  1. My first was All Points West Jersey City.
I walked into work and my friend had a bunch of web browsers going on multiple machines. they were all on Emeks site. Once he explained he was trying to buy a print I offered to help in case he couldn't get through. Well, we both got through so I bought one for myself. Once I saw it in person.... I was hooked. Now I'm an addict.

  3. My first EMEK Poster was the 2006 Ben Harper print. I saw the image at a record store and it definitely caught my eye. I went home and searched the internet for the artist known as EMEK and was introduced to a new world of amazing prints and posters. I bought that same poster later that week which began my EMEK addiction that still continues today.

  4. My first EMEK poster was from a contest like this one. EMEK offered the chance to buy the Prodigy Singapore 'Lionfish' poster by guessing his name for it. Although my guess was not exact, it was picked - Leo the Ludefisk. I have collected his work ever since. Thanks for the contest! tim.vottero(at)sdsmt.edu

  6. my first Emek was the 2003 Neil Young print. Emek is such an incredible artist - only wished I lived closer to the west coast to visit some of the show and see some of his older prints in person. Thanks for the contest and the blog! rw1rw1rw1()yahoo.com

  9. Emek jeeze where do i begin. I only buy prints to shows i go to, and i have been going to shows since 1994. Anytime i see an Emek print at the show it has been SOLD OUT, i have missed out on so many prints because of bad luck. I go to his auctions to attempt to buy something and guess what, SOLD OUT. I could not take it any more and had to go on ebay and after 16 years of going to shows and buying poster prints I FINALLY own the Sonic Youth 2010 Emek from the Wiltern(spent WAY too much), it is getting framed as we speak.

Also i am a HUGE TOOL Fan, on their 2006 tour i saw them a total of 5 times in California alone, saw them at the club Nokia this year, and have seen them so many more times (total is somewhere around 8 or 9 times) and all those times i missed out on getting an Emek Print. SO if i win you would be hitting me on both ends!!!! This contest is awesome by the way.

  11. My first EMEK was his 1994 Dinosaur Jr print. Dinosaur Jr is one of my favorite bands and I just thought it was such a strong image by a strong artist, I just had to have it. After much searching, it's now mine, and it's one of my favorites to this day. Thanks EMEK for your great work! peterson.justin()mayo.edu

  13. i got turned on to the work of emek via henry rollins. emek did the cover to a rollins spoken word: think tank. i went to see rollins on that tour at the 9.30 club in dc. they had litho prints of the cover illustration tacked up. i snagged one off the wall of the ladies bathroom. the first emek screenprint i bought was QOTSA 2003 ft lauderdale. it's a lift of albrecht durer's adam and eve. albrecht durer is my most favorite artist but i can't afford his prints so i got emek's version instead. i actually ordered 6 other prints in that tube, ahhh the good old days of emek collecting.

  15. My first print, as a relative newcomer, was his collaboration with Aaron Horkey on the Decemberists 09 poster.

I had just gotten into concert posters maybe a month or two beforehand and I had bought a ticket to the Decemberists show at Edgefield outside of Portland. Lo and behold, the morning after I bought the ticket, I saw this beauty up on your blog.

It definitely kickstarted my addiction, was the first print I got framed (at 21 years old, getting something framed seems absurd), and I went on to buy Emek's Death Cab 09 poster as well, because the image was beautiful and also because I liked the fact that the poster was for Death Cab's show at Edgefield the day before the Decemberists. Maybe I'm just OCD, but I thought that was cool.

  24. Ok, I cant figure out if comments are filtered and then posted or not but here goes my second attempt.
Outside of Pearl Jam posters, I am not a big collector of posters. But with this years tour kicking off in Kansas City EMEK's poster was the first EMEK I obtained and one of the tour posters I really wanted. Ended with both MSG ones because I was at the events.

  29. i don't usually kiss and tell but for EMEK, anything...

first EMEK for my girlfriend and I was 06 coachella, it was my 2nd time at Coachella with her and really the most memorable... we didn't buy the print because it was EMEK, we bought it because it is a beautiful piece of art that once it's up and framed in our house (hopefully in the next 20 years) it will remind us of an incredible, magical, weekend that we will never forget. it's not the work and what it represents that is important about this print to me, it's what it represents to us.

  32. 2003 QOTSA. Back in the day when you could drop him an email & he'd send a poster in return(wow). Emeks a proper artist, proper detailed work. Some of his faded line releases wood, metal & batiks et al are cracking. Cheers ITRPF/FL.
