Rob Schwager Junior Daredevil Print

No comments:

Rob Schwager has released another perfect, beautiful, brilliant print titled Junior Daredevil. He keeps creating these insanely good prints and you just run of words to describe them.

Details from Rob on the print:

As a child growing up in the 70's, there was one man that all of my friends and I had as our childhood hero.

All-American daredevil Evel Knievel.

We watched his epic jumps on ABC's Wide World of Sports. They were HUGE events for not only us kids, but the entire nation. ESPN "extreme sports" didn’t exist back then. Knievel created the genre of extreme sports. He was an extreme sport all unto himself.

We spent hours playing with our Stunt Cycle toy sets. But nothing was better than riding around the neighborhood on our bikes, pretending we were stuntmen too. We'd constantly challenge each other to see who could jump the farthest. We'd launch ourselves off of crudely cobbled together ramps, built from anything we could find. We had some spectacular jumps, but we also had some equally spectacular crashes.

I recently told my oldest son about Evel Knievel. We watched his jumps online and took out books from our local library. Those were a good start... But nothing charged him up more than that day he took his first bicycle jump off of his skateboard ramp. After his shaky landing, the look of pure excitement in his eyes spoke volumes. That thrilling shared experience of his first jump, totally transported me back to my OWN childhood and we totally connected that day. I looked at my grinning son and said... "Yeah... I know."

This print is my tribute to the great Evel Knievel and all junior daredevils everywhere...

No comments:

Avone returns to 1xRUN today with his new print Build & Destroy. And no that is not Miley.

While at Candamil we were preparing for a show at Wynwood so I wanted to execute something big and major. Pretty much everything was organic and just fell into place. Christian Vargas shot Jana Wirth and we wanted to use it as part of the composition and from there it was all "happy little accidents"." - Avone

Ernesto Yerena Live in the Present Print

1 comment:

Ernesto Yerena has released a print dedicated to those who fight against anxiety and depression.

It is said anxiety is "living in the future" and depression is "living in the past". The healthiest way to live is in the present. To be present is to be free from both anxiety and depression. I myself have had a long bout with both of these disorders or as I like to call them sicknesses of society. We live in a society that has a very fast pace and we try to keep up with it, in the process we may begin to get behind on bills or we may get the feeling we are not accomplishing what we set out so we dwell on our shortcomings and worry about what has not even happened yet. Constantly living like this is very unhealthy but this is our norm. I try to question these norms and really strive to live in the present but it is a battle and also a form of art that I have not yet mastered. I hope you all enjoy this image. If you have ever suffered from any form of mental health issues this image is dedicated to you. Con Ganas! -ernesto

Skrillex Amsterdam Poster by Tim Doyle On Sale

No comments:

Tim Doyle was tapped by Skrillex’ management to produce a poster for his recent show in Amsterdam! Skrillex wanted to keep these very limited and rare, so only 100 copies of each print on the tour were made! Nakatomi will only have 20 for sale, and this poster can never be reprinted!

This 4-color print measures 18×24, and features florescent inks and a split fountain! Please note- because of the nature of florescent inks, some of the colors came out POPPING bright and the overlay of the green and pink layers (the ground) came out definitely more orange than the muddy green as seen in the preview digital image above.

Also- under a black light, this print might actually come alive and do battle with you for your soul. I’m not saying that WILL happen, but it might be a good idea to have a sword handy. Just saying.

Print is available HERE NOW in the Nakatomi store!

James Flames Avett Brothers Bloomington Poster Release

No comments:

James Flames is releasing his new The Avett Brothers poster today (Wednesday) at 1pm Eastern.

James Flames on the posters:
So, funny story about these posters...

Back in September, the band had to reluctantly cancel their Bloomington, IL show due to a personal matter. Unfortunately, the posters were already done and delivered.

They immediately rescheduled the show for February, and asked me if I would re-print them with the new date and have them ready for the new show. No problem!

But then I thought... what if I made the new version special unto itself - redraw it so that the style matches the Lexington, KY poster I made for them in November, and give it a fresh look. A ton more work for sure, but I was positive it would be worth it in the end.

I couldn't be more proud of how it came out. And the band loved it! But then, the snow hit! The band's bus was snowbound in NC and now the February show was canceled! Crazy.

Luckily it was rescheduled for the very next week, and by all accounts the show was absolutely amazing! Sometimes great things are worth waiting for.

And so these posters have quite the stories behind them: the literal story of the boy and his dog and image itself being inspired by the song Bring Your Love To Me ("Bring your love to me, I will hold it like a dandelion, one I want to save, one I want to keep from the breeze that follows me and no one else."), and the story of the show that took three tries to actually happen.

Here is the link for the 2014 show poster signed and numbered by James

There’s also the original version of this poster that he’ll be releasing as well – it’s from the original show that was canceled back in September. They asked if he would reprint them with the revised date for the new show, but James decided to totally redraw it and make it a little extra special.

"This piece is a first of a series I have in the works, I have 3 others with the same idea but different characters. I have also been collecting foreign currency to explore other ideas along theses lines. I've always been a fan of Mickey and we all see him being used some how. I thought it would be funny to make him relevant and also a bit out of the comfort zone most people are used to seeing him in. I figured with the way the economy had been going, and still is for that matter, that even Mickey Mouse is collecting his dues." - Joseph Martinez

Shepard Fairey Oil & Gas Building Print Release Details

No comments:

Details from Shepard Fairey on his new print releasing this week Oil & Gas Building:
Industrial power has been a point of pride in America since the early 20th century, and many impressively iconic, if monolithic, architectural landmarks have been erected as symbols of industrial dominance. The Chrysler building, the General Electric building, and the Sears Tower come to mind. Dominant industrial forces may build great monuments to their success, but those physical manifestations of their power and ego often correlate to the dangerously disproportionate influence they have on politics and policy. This Oil & Gas print is about the volatility of giving an industry with too much power the ability to manipulate politics in its favor despite the dangers to the environment and climate change. The situation is going to blow up in our faces metaphorically, and already has for too many people literally as well(remember the BP explosion and spill?). A lot of people freaked out that the Obama administration lost taxpayers about 600 million by investing in Solyndra, a solar panel company developing a new technology, which went bankrupt. However, few people seem upset that the U.S, govt. gives approximately 25 billion in tax breaks and subsidies to the highly profitable oil and gas industries. The Solyndra investment did not work out, but the need to fund new, renewable technologies, should be obvious when the rapidly depleting oil and gas sources become more difficult and dangerous to extract every passing day. The only reason the govt. subsidies are so disproportionate is because of the massive power the dying oil and gas industry still has.

The Oil & Gas industry, which includes multinational and independent oil and gas producers and refiners, natural gas pipeline companies, gasoline service stations and fuel oil dealers, has long enjoyed a history of strong influence in Washington. Individuals and political action committees affiliated with oil and gas companies have donated $238.7 million to candidates and parties since the 1990 election cycle, 75 percent of which has gone to Republicans.

Though oil is finite, our reliance on it is so extreme that the power wielded by those who control oil is virtually unlimited. Oil and gas companies and the car manufacturers who profit heavily from gas powered engines used their power and influence to overturn a zero emissions law in the state of California, effectively delaying electric cars arriving on the market accessibly for ten plus years. It is dangerous for an industry to have that much power.

We need to cultivate renewable alternatives, and for the sake of the future, we need to push the govt. to support the developers of new technologies rather than subsidizing old fossil fuel models moving toward obsolescence .

Check this article on the political influence of the Oil & Gas industry.

Thanks for caring
-Shepard
The print is 18 x 24 inch screen print.  Signed and numbered edition of 450.
Release date: February 27, 2014 at a random time in Prints.
