Aaron James Powers Ray LaMontagne Atlanta Poster

No comments:

Aaron James Powers has released his artist copies of the Ray LaMontagne concert poster he created for the Atlanta tour stop this past July.
 Aaron talks about the design:
I had been looking for an excuse to create another illustration featuring a horse, so it seemed like a great fit when the opportunity came up to be part of this year’s Ouroboros tour for Ray. The mix of southern peach orchard blossoms and foliage mixing with a translucent horse with stars embedded in its silhouette stood out among all the other dozens of ideas while brainstorming. I was thrilled to hear the prints sold out that night at the venue and can’t wait to work on my next poster projects coming down the line.
It’s a 3-color, hand-printed 18” x 24” with an artist’s edition of 50 at $40.

BioWorkZ Samurai Skull Print

No comments:

Ben Kwok has released a ridiculously good print titled Samurai Skull.

Here is what he said about it:
I've always been fascinated with feudal Japan, especially with Samurais. Their weapon and armor is truly spectacular. I love the details and flares of the Samurai Helmet (Kabuto) which inspired me to create this image. Initially wanted to use a Japanese Noh Mask, or a Samurai Mask (Mempo), but I thought a skull would make for a more interesting composition. More importantly, it's a tribute to the warriors of a powerful military caste.

Hand Numbered, Signed, and Embossed Limited Edition print of 100

Daniel Danger Spirit Board And Clayboard Original Art Release

No comments:

Daniel Danger worked for months on a idea to have something unique for this years MondoCon and that is a Spirit Board.

Daniel Danger Spirit Board Set Includes:
- Custom 10x15” Spirit board and full wrap box
- Custom laser-cut doorway planchette
- Set of three new 9x12” four color screenprints
- Two 1.25” enamel pins in felt bag
- Signed instruction card numbered out of 150 copies in a 2nd edition.
I really wanted to create something unique and out of the norm for myself, and to have fun with my own aesthetic and narrative legacy. The concept of ghosts, and their many interpretable meanings and metaphors, are crucial to everything I do as an artist. Important as well is the notion of communication, sometimes between far away and illogical places and times, loss, and distance.-DD
You can also get the set with a  9x12" custom clayboard monoprint, each unique and random.

They go on sale Monday at 2 PM EDT at www.tinymediaempire.com in his store.

Cope2 And Monica Alonso Photograff Print

No comments:

Cope2 has teamed up with photographer Monica Alonso for different kind of print titled Photograff and released by 1xRUN.

"This print which is part of our collaboration project "Photograff" is a combination of traditional film photography and traditional graffiti. There is a lot of history behind the two and the idea was to bring both worlds together and put in as much manual labor as possible. Every single step that was put into making this piece is a manual process, there was no digital technology implemented in the original piece. I only shoot on film and this photo was shot with 120mm (medium format) Kodak 400 tmax film and the camera used was a Mamiya c330. I then personally develop the film and make the final darkroom prints. The photo is never filtered or retouched. Once this is done cope paints his work and art on to the photo which then becomes not only an original piece of work, but a collaboration as well. Choosing the subject matter is another important step that ties everything together for this photo in particular. I shot trains that were sitting in the concourse yard in NY. Trains to me are pretty timeless, they tell a story of a point in time especially in the graffiti world." - Monica Alonso
The print is 18 x 18 inch Archival Pigment Print on 290gsm Moab Rag Fine Art Paper with an edition of 50.

Brad Klausen Widespread Panic Milwaukee Posters Release

No comments:

Widespread Panic just finished playing 3 nights in Milwaukee, WI and these are the 3 posters Brad Klausen designed for each of the 3 shows.

Brad was told the WSP fans refer to the Milwaukee shows as "Milwookie" and Robert, the man who handles the band's merchandise, suggested the idea that since Brad lives in the Pacific Northwest, land of the Sasquatch, what if Brad made a triptych telling of a Sasquatch / wookie migrating from out of the woods of the PNW on his way to Milwaukee to the shows. And this is the result of running with that idea of Robert's. Brad is pretty stoked on how it turned out.

Brad will be selling 100 signed and numbered uncut sheets of all 3 nights, October, 21st, 22nd and 23rd. The poster is printed on black paper.

Poster is 36" x 24", 5 Colors (black paper - uncut sheet)

Eric Robison Corpse Bride Print From Dark Hall Mansion

1 comment:

Dark Hall Mansion welcomes back leading contemporary artist, Eric Robison, for another Halloween surprise, DHM's latest officially licensed limited edition fine art print release features Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride".

A very favorite film of Dark Hall Mansion, Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" has so many of the wonderful touches that make Tim Burton films so lovely and singularly unique. Nowhere is this more evident than in the beautiful "Corpse Bride" herself, Emily, whose sweet and delicate nature belies the cruelty visited upon her, and yet whose pureness of spirit ultimately leads to one of the most gorgeous cinematic finale's as Emily's soul takes flight amongst an ethereal transformation of thousands of butterflies.

Artist Eric Robison, whose vast work and prominent credits include that of former Disney Imagineer, lightly captures Emily's visage and spirit in this moving watercolor portrait. At once bold and fragile his Standard edition print captures "Corpse Bride's" pathos and echoes one of Emily's own song lyrics, while Eric's Variant edition print captures that incomparable finale in the church as Emily, lit by moonlight, sweetly transforms into her heavenward bound soul.

All officially licensed Dark Hall Mansion limited edition Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" prints are available in either 18" x 24" or 11" x 14" format and go on sale Tuesday, Oct 25th, at 12:30 PM PDT on their dedicated store page here: http://www.darkhallmansionstore.com

Jay Ryan Dumpster Fire, Permafrost And Bears Prints

No comments:

Jay Ryan has just returned from an exciting weekend at MondoCon in Austin, Texas, where he dropped three new prints.

Regular Bears, inspired to some degree by a camping trip his family went on with a bunch of kids' book authors last year in Oregon.

Permafrost
We all need more mammoths in our lives, and this one comes with a woolly rhino. Jay was in Oshkosh, Wisconsin two weeks ago for a print demo, and they made prints based on this same drawing ("Oshkosh Frost", due to the Wisconsin weather that day). Jay liked the drawing so much that he made a new edition at full 18 by 24" size, with different films and colors.

Dumpster Fire #5
Several years ago, Jay made prints for the Onion's AV Club, but there were printing problems, and he had to run the edition all over again on new paper. The stack of misprints was large enough that Jay saved them with the idea that he would eventually print something else on top. After a couple false starts during the last few years (clouds, a giant pink number 5), they've finally landed these Dumpster Fire prints for you. The paper has about 16 layers of ink on it, though the Dumpster Fire portion is "only" four screens.
Jay made about 50 of these with text on them for his friends in Nonagon and the Rutabega, for a show which happened on October 20, but he doesn't have any of those to sell.

French Paper Art Club is releasing a great looking poster by Dan Mumford featuring Superman.

Man of Steel by Dan Mumford
7 color screen-print (with a varnish layer)
18’x24’
Officially Licensed
Limited Edition of 180 Signed & numbered by Dan Mumford

On sale Wednesday October 26th at a random time at https://en.frenchpaperartclub.com

A few words from Dan about his piece :
‘With this piece we thought it would be nice to tackle something a little different within the Superman Mythos. The way Man Of Steel showed this beautifully crafted world of Krypton fascinated me, and it was a shame we spent so little time there in the film. So with this I wanted to pay tribute to the beginning of Man Of Steel and the tragic moment as his Mother watches the end of her world and Kal-El disappears into the sky.’ Dan Mumford

Arno Kiss Sword in The Stone Print

No comments:

Arno Kiss just released a new screen print. It’s a 3 color, 18x24 print based on The Sword in The Stone by T.H. White. It's one of Arno's all time favorite books/stories. He's been reading a lot lately and wanted to find a way to incorporate that with his other passion illustration.

I asked Arno about the print since I had no clue what the book was about:
It's the story of King Arthur pulling Excalibur out of the stone when he's young. But before he's ready to wield the sword, the wizard Merlin transforms him into different animals (pictured in the stars at the top) to teach him the valuable life lessons that a king needs to rule his people.

Dan Grzeca Top 20 Art Show At Galerie F

No comments:

Dan Grzeca is a Chicago-born illustrator and printmaker. He has been screen-printing since the mid-nineties, contributing to the nascent and then burgeoning roster of Chicago Poster makers by creating a visual documentation of the Free and Improvised music being made by Ken Vandermark, The Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet, and Caffeine among others. He has gone on to make work for big, famous bands, but still gets the most satisfaction out of making work that ties into music produced by talented friends.

His idiosyncratic style is achieved using pencil and scratchboard drawing techniques which are then transferred to screens for multi-layered printing. Dan spends a lot of time thinking about the screen-printing process in both a painterly and stripped down way, attempting to achieve aesthetic freedom by limiting choices in the composition process. Success to him is measured by visual boldness, stark imagery, subtle color layers, and ink-stained clothing.

“Dan Grzeca’s Top 20” will highlight twenty songs, pieces of music, musicians and bands that have inspired him over the past two decades. Music is an intangible experience that unites us all by way of rhythm and an intrinsic understanding of the human experience that transcends language. It is a great challenge to bring this movement to paper but Grzeca’s work is at the pinnacle of capturing the experience. Galerie F is thrilled to be working with not only a Chicago printmaking icon but also one of the foremost gig poster designers of our time.

The exhibition opening will take place from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday, October 28th.
Complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages provided at the opening from
Three Floyds Brewing Co., The Hop Butcher and Perrier.

Details may be found at www.GalerieF.com.

Remaining artwork will be on sale Wednesday, November 2 at 5PM CST  on GalerieF.com. This is to give attendees and in-store purchases first grabs at this artwork.
