The Hockey Samurai Warrior by Ryon Xavier Smith

No comments:

Ryon Xavier Smith - a concept sculptor, monster creator, animation creator and toy designer living in Vancouver, BC - has decided to bring two of his favorite things together - samurais and hockey (specifically, the Detroit Red Wings). The Hockey Samurai Warrior stands 10" tall and will (probably) by released as a limited run of 100 pieces.

These will most likely be done as a DIY project. And while I'd love to get my hands on an already painted up figure, I guess since getting the NHL license might be difficult, you could customize the piece as your favorite goalie.

Finally, a Toy For Cat Lovers and Metal Heads

No comments:

Lulubell Toy Bodega has dibs on an exclusive that’s sure to tempt cat lovers and metal heads alike: Real Head x FullyVisual Mini Fortune Cats. Dreamed up by Mori, designer and owner of Real Head Japan and hand crafted by Jamie from FullyVisual, these kittens are heavy. I want to insert some bad pun about how it would suck if it were “raining cats and dogs” and these fell on your head, but I can’t quite get it together. Each cat is priced as follows: $35 for silver, $45 for copper, $55 for gold and $65 for black nickle. One crazy cat lady (or lad) will win a golden ticket redeemable for a full size 7-inch tall solid metal gold Fortune Cat. Both sizes are made in 1:1 scale with the original for that perfect fit in with mutant cat collections! Good luck kitty lovers: the cats come out to play on Wednesday, June 3rd, at 12PM PST only at FullyVisual.com.

He’s back - after a sold out showing at Ambach & Rice last year, Josh Keyes moves to tackle the Rockies at the David B. Smith Gallery in Denver. The new show “Sprout” deals with the ever present tension between nature and the urban landscape. Josh’s new body of work draws on themes from Alan Weisman’s book “The World Without Us,” which illustrates Mother Nature reclaiming the Earth’s man-made structures and locales. The show will feature the largest Keyes painting (seen above) to date at a whopping 30″ x 80″!

We’re also excited to see Josh’s latest “interactive” installation piece “the Boli,” Josh’s sculptural interpretation of the hand-made artifact of the West African “Bamana.” The show opens, with Josh Keyes in attendance, on May 30th at 7pm and runs until July 3rd.

Limited Edition Prints by TAKI 183 available online NOW

No comments:
Graffiti writers around the world know the name that started it all: TAKI 183. A kid from 183rd Street in northern Manhattan, TAKI 183's simple signature captured the attention of a reporter and, on July 21, 1971, the article "TAKI 183 Spawns Pen Pals" appeared in The New York Times.

Just like that, TAKI 183 became a graffiti legend, with rumors spreading that he even tagged a Secret Service car and the Statue of Liberty. Amid all the rumors, TAKI 183 remained silent. Now, almost four decades later, TAKI 183 has emerged to tell his story.

This site includes photos of TAKI 183's work, images of his friends and contemporaries, his true story and, for the first time, official TAKI 183 limited-edition screenprints.

There are currently three screenprints available in the store:

COLLAGE

A collage design made up of The New York Times article about TAKI 183 from July 21, 1971, and various high school newspaper articles and drawings about TAKI 183 from 1970.

Four-Color Hand-Pulled Screen Print
18 x 24

Each of the 25 prints is unique in that no two tags are exactly alike. This is your chance to have a real TAKI 183 tag, overspray and all, plus marker tags of his mentors!
