Free Friday Poster Giveaway Featuring Francisco Ramirez and Bureau of Print Research and Design

37 comments:

Francisco Ramirez is always fun to chat with at Flatstock and he is a huge World War 2 history fan. This was the first of many science fiction themed posters by Francisco. So you ask how is this sci-fi? The idea that Germany won the space race before the USSR or the USA.

"The Space Race can trace its origins to Nazi Germany, beginning in the 1930s and continuing during World War II when Germany researched and built operational ballistic missiles. Starting in the early 1930s, German aerospace engineers experimented with liquid-fueled rockets, with the goal that one day they would be capable of reaching high altitudes and traversing long distances."

But say that Germany got to space first but didn't return back. This is the inspiration for this print.

Deadnaut I (Restrike) is 1 color on Black French Paper and measures 19 x 25

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments to leave a comment about Space and or Sci-Fi to have a chance at winning the poster. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the random number generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until midnight PDT Saturday Saturday September 1 that's two days to enter with the winner announced on Sunday.

Since some people can't read instructions if you leave more than one comment I will be deleting them all and you will have to do it again, meaning if Billy leaves 3 comments I will delete them all and he will have to do it again. ONE comment per person. It's not that hard, we're not saving lives here just giving away a poster.

Huge thank you to Francisco Ramirez and Bureau of Print Research and Design for providing the print to you my fine readers.

Shepard Fairey Black Hills Paster Kit On Sale Details

2 comments:

10,  24 x 36 inch folded Offset Pasters for wheat pasting.   Not signed or numbered.

“Shepard and I made these offset paster kits as a way for people to get involved beyond having a poster on their door, or saving a collectors print.  Its time to get your hands dirty.  We hope that people will take these kits and make the issue visible in public spaces instead of keeping the image and message in their homes.
Just this past week a large piece of the Black Hills went up for sale (http://www.lastrealindians.com/2012/08/15/the-auction-of-the-sacred/) and is currently being held for a possible back room private sale to avoid controversy (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/georgianne-nienaber/pe-sla-lakota-auction_b_1823451.html).
After more than 150 years of broken treaties the fight for Native rights to sacred lands continues.
Every pack of these pasters that goes out makes the issue more visible, and the money from the sale of these packs will continue to fund the purchase and printing of the message that we must “Honor The Treaties” and “The Black Hills Are Not For Sale.”  ~Aaron Huey

$15.  Only 100 kits will be sold.

Munk One Original paintings and drawings for sale

No comments:

Munk One has added 15 different original pieces of art to his store. Items ranging from paintings using a variety of mediums to original drawings. Some are paintings that were in gallery shows and there are also original paintings used for album art and drawings for clothing that he did for Upper Playground. More items will be added over time so keep an eye on the store. Original art from any artist rarely comes available so don't miss this chance to move up to the world of original art.

Many of you know I am a big fan of Munk One's work. Just looking at these 5 pieces you can see the depth of his talent. Different mediums and different themes, you would not casually look at these and think they are all by the same person. Diverse talent like that is something I really respect and enjoy. Some artists and their fans are "comfortable" with the same feel and look to all their work, I'm guilty of that as well with a few I like. But what is really intriguing is when an artist keeps pushing himself to create more and push the boundaries with each new piece he creates and not rest on his laurels

Glenn Barr Alien Bride Print On Sale Today

No comments:

"The “Alien Bride” was conceived one evening in a late night drawing session in my sketch book. I wanted to visualize the dichotomy of scale with the female form and include a large “not of this Earth” figure, this came about in a stream of consciousness like thought process…kind of letting the pencil flow about the paper and then pulling out an image once there are enough lines on the page, in doing this you can create a very energetic drawing." - Glenn Barr

Alien Bride is 29 x 19 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper with an edition of 30 signed and numbered with COA

Jermaine Rogers Breaking Bad Poster Release Details

No comments:

The official Season 5 Premier Print was released at San Diego Comic-Con where it sold out...all but 50 copies, that is. This small stash was held back so that it could be made available online, via JermaineRogers.com

Jermaine worked with show creator Vince Gilligan on the print, to
effectively tease viewers regarding the anticipated season premier without giving too much pivotal information. One thing is for sure: the look exchanged between Walt and Jesse in this artwork forebodes some 'not so nice' things to come...

From the first edition of 300 prints, these prints will be made available this Friday, August 31st at 3PM Eastern (12 noon Pacific): first come / first served.
Random copies will be personally remarqued (i.e. 'doodled') by Jermaine Rogers.

Print is screen printed and measures 24x18 inches, signed and numbered by Jermaine.

New Posters from Jon Smith All This And Heaven Too and Hail to the King

2 comments:

Jon Smith has released a couple of new posters. All This And Heaven Too is a line from a Florence and The Machine song. It's an art print from that Florence poster he did. It's all mysterious and earthy, I think Jon is trying to appeal to the chicks that read the Twilight books or maybe even Lord of The Rings.

The prints measure 18 x 24 and for the first time Jon is trying an open edition of them, they will all be signed as well

Hail to the King, Baby is Jon's tribute to the only thing good about Seattle sports, Felix Hernandez. A Cy Young award winner, he just recently threw a perfect game and Jon wanted to commemorate that achievement.

Hail to the King, Baby is  a 3 color screen print including metallic gold, honoring King Felix's crowning achievement. 18"x24 signed and numbered edition of 100.

Matt Gordon Wodka Macheck Print On Sale Today

No comments:

I really like Matt Gordon's work, such a high level of detail with his paintings you think they are drawings and they are really funny too. Back for his 4th RUN, 1xRUN are excited to bring back Michigan artist Matt Gordon with his detail laden Wodka Macheck.

"The physical photo reference I used overtook my imagination and recorded the roundabout real surroundings and human interaction I deal with on the everyday at those moments. I was forced to be as truthful as I can be when I decided Jesus would be in the sky and that fact milked me 'til my teets were tweaked. This piece is the morning or next image after the painting I made "wat's up twubble?" They were made in unison." - Matt Gordon

Wodka Macheck is 20 x 14 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper with an edition of only 20

This RUN comes signed, numbered and with a Certificate of Authenticity from Matt Gordon and 1xRUN

The Dark Knight Rises Aurora Victim Relief Fund Auction

1 comment:

As I have mentioned before the art community always helps in the time of need. Artist David Blake and another member of ExpressoBeans.com have put together a great cause. Other members of EB have added stuff as well including posters by Justin Santora, Jay Ryan and Emek. I urge you to check it out.

Go HERE to bid

The Cause
The purpose of this auction is to raise funds to support the victims and their families that were affected by the tragedy that took place on July 20, 2012, at the Century Theatres in Aurora, Colorado. All the proceeds from this auction will be donated to the non-profit organization, Community First Foundation-The Aurora Victim Relief Fund (http://www.communityfirstfoundation.org). The donation will be made in the name of Expresso Beans.

Community First Foundation, a longstanding community foundation, has established the Aurora Victim Relief Fund in partnership with Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. This fund will only be used to meet the immediate and long-term needs of victims and their families and, as funds are available, the broad needs of those affected in the community.

The Auction
The auction is now open for bidding and ends on September 1st at 9:00 p.m. PST. There are only two places where bids will be accepted, in this thread and on David’s blog (http://www.davidblakeart.com). For bidding purposes, EB’s and David’s blog’s date/time stamp will be noted. On September 1st, if multiple people place the same highest bid price with the time stamp of 9:00 p.m., each person will be given one chance to rebid and the highest bidder wins. Please note that some artwork have opening bid amounts and the winning bidder agrees to pay the shipping cost.

The Artists
A big  and thank you to the artists that graciously donated their artwork. They were very generous in their support of the victims and families that were affected by this tragedy.
