John Dunivant Margot The Maggot Girl Print On Sale Today

2 comments:

"Margot The Maggot Girl came together in 2007 from sketching up of a few different characters. I was thinking about the baby mutants in jars that old carnies used to display, a lot of the old fetuses that didn't make it. They would have all these weird little mutations sometimes two heads, or no body, some with some seal-like flippers, all these different things. I was talking with one of the troops that we work with, and they would come up with these different names of combination of part animal parts humans, so I was thinking in that world. I thought how all these different babies would live and Margot became one of them. She doesn't quite age. she still has the body of this little girl, but in maggot form. She can't quite grow past that age, so she has this bit of melancholy about her. She used to hang in the arcade down at the original Theatre Bizarre grounds and this last year at the Masonic Temple she's been hanging around the Theatre Bizarre stage. " - John Dunivant

1xRUN are more than excited to present the third canvas print from Theatre Bizarre architect and 1xRUN regular John Dunivant. Their latest banner ushers in Halloween as Margot The Maggot Girl John Dunivant continues to take 1xRUN collectors into the world of Theatre Bizarre with looks at old characters, classics re-imagined and much more.

The Maggot Girl is 12 x 13 Inches Archival Pigment Print on Stretched Canvas with a signed and numbered edition of 150

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Starfucker and Aerosmith Posters by Clint Wilson

No comments:
Clint Wilson has been printing out of the Nakatomi print shop for years now, in the off hours after they go home,  and Tim Doyle honestly has no idea what he gets up to while he’s there.  He comes in and disappears without a trace, like an art ninja.  But he leaves behind awesome screen prints…so it’s more like a ninja-Santa thing. Hmmm. ANYWAY-
Now…we have photographic evidence.  Clint just made this incredible process video showing the creation of his most recent gigposter for the band STARFUCKER.  The video has everything from the initial sketches all the way through to the final signing and numbering- you get to see every aspect of the operations of the Nakatomi print-shop  in Austin!

And, after you’ve watched that, pick up the poster in question, and a few others (pictured below) in the CLINT WILSON section of the Nakatomi store!

 Starfucker- 18×24 edition of 100

Red Hot Chili Peppers- 18×24 edition of 100.

 Aerosmith- 18×24, edition of 50

Deftones, Patton Oswalt and more Posters by Charles Moran

No comments:
Charles Moran is dropping 3 new posters in his store at 5pm EDT tonight.

Electric Factory presents Deftones (with Scars on Broadway) October. 28,2012.
This is a 3-color, 18x24", on 100lb Bright White Cougar. Edition of 70
This is Charle's newest gigposter for comedian, Patton Oswalt. Its 17x24", 4-color, edition of 50.

Initially, he wanted to place a hook handed Patton in a distant future, fighting space lizards at the mercy of the Ham overlords......great concept but.. As Patton said best "..new images, new directions, not a self-referential worm hole."
The concept decided upon was in the vein of 70's subversive comix.

This is his newest poster for the 10/13/12 screening of The Lost Boys presented by Artsquest and Jay and Brians Excellent Video Store in Bethlehem, PA at the Frank Banko Ale House. Its a 18x24, 4-color silk screen with an edition of 50

KMNDZ Sucker Free Print On Sale Today

No comments:

"This piece was my first painting of a face. I had such a hard time I must have painted it around five time before I felt I got it right. Merry Karnowsky challenged me to step out side my comfort zone and paint a figure. It was intended to be an exercise. In the process, I found my self falling in love with painting all over again. The original piece was finished March 2012, it was painted on Luan wood. I tend to gesso my pieces with black golden paint. Colors used are golden Acrylic paints. Once piece is finished it varnished with Soluvar from Liquitex." - KMNDZ

Johnny "KMNDZ" Rodriquez attributes his success in commercial design as a direct result of his passion for art. “I didn’t choose a career in visual design. It chose me. Draw, paint, design, take pictures… it’s what I do and always have done.” KMDNZ is about both the past and the future. “Anyone who’s ever touched a Mac, knows that the keystroke combination ‘command’ + ’z’ = ‘undo’. After using it day in and day out at work, I started wishing that I had an ‘undo’ action for everyday life. We’ve all done things that we wished we hadn’t, and said things that we would like to take back.”

Derek Hess Rush Poster Cleveland On Sale

No comments:

For the first time in over 6 years Derek Hess has done a rock concert poster. Some how Rush got him to do one for the show in Cleveland this past weekend. The poster is a 5 color serigraph, 36" x 20", edition of 150.

Derek Hess on how he designed the poster :

ok...a few things going on here...it's 5 colors...two reds in the back, one metallic silver, a dark red / brown of the symbols and a black for the main figure and text. the two in the back are to reflect the color palate of the record 'clockwork angels' which this poster is for the cleveland stop on that tour. the main image of that records art work revolves around symbols on a clock's face. so i took the iconic rush start and laid the symbols around the circle like a clock. then three of the symbols i replaced with three angels..'clockwork angels'..and the three also represent the three members of rush. final i did a gestural drawing of the rush guy against the federation in black to pull him away from the rest of the piece to keep it from flattening out

Nekst Rolling Graffiti Print On Sale Today

No comments:

"The piece was created in June of 2012. It's in Detroit off the freeway painted for everyone coming from the west and all the arrivals to the airport. Revok and I thought and kicked some ideas back and forth about what I made that was marketable. I decided that since my work is about scale and visibility a photograph of my work could hopefully illustrate the environment, size, and narrative better than any illustration I would do." - Nekst
