Psychedelia Edition

Dark Hall Mansion is proud to release their new officially licensed Beatles project, the 4-print Limited Edition set: John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Dark Hall Mansion working closely with Live Nation Merchandise, The Beatles' North American Licensing Agent, and Apple Corps Ltd will release their new Beatleslimited edition screen print set of 4 by leading contemporary artist, Tom Whalen, on February 12, 2013. This exclusive 4-print set stunningly showcases The Beatlesunmistakable personas amongst the abstracted milieu of '60s Pop culture and the landmark film that is "Yellow Submarine." The 4 prints measure 24" x 30" each and were beautifully composed and designed to work individually or as an interlocked whole when displayed.

Tom Whalen's 4 new Beatles prints make a striking impression, particularly when viewed as a single quadtych, one meant to artistically render and underscore the
personalities of The Beatles themselves. Each print will be individually numbered, 24″ x 30″ in size, and exquisitely screen printed. With an extremely limited release of only 200 sets available worldwide for all Beatles fans, it's an edition for even the most discerning Beatles collector.

There will also be a very select Psychedelia Edition, limited to just 50 sets worldwide with each print individually signed by artist Tom Whalen and printed with shimmering metallic inks that intensely set off the designs and nuances of his highly stylized artwork.

Both Editions go on sale February 12, 2013 exclusively through Dark Hall Mansion, http://www.DarkHallMansion.com via their online store http://www.darkhallmansionstore.com.
Pricing will be $200 for the 4-print Standard Edition and $300 for the 4-print Psychedelia Artist Signed Edition.

Both Editions go one sale precisely at 9:30 AM PST at Dark Hall Mansion’s online Store on February 12, 2013.

The 4-print Beatles sets are a limited edition series created by Dark Hall Mansion. ‘The Beatles’ is a registered trademark of Apple Corps Limited. Yellow Submarine is a trademark of Subafilms Ltd © 1968. Dark Hall Mansion is a labor of love. We are passionate about art, about the work of print and poster artists present and past, here and abroad, we are committed to bringing their skills to the forefront on projects both compelling and exciting, bridging their studios and creations directly with your walls and personal collections.

Graveyard Band Poster by Brian Ewing

No comments:

Details from Brian on the poster:

Here’s the final art for the GRAVEYARD poster. I had been posting process shots here to show how I worked on it. Let me know what you think? Also go and check the band out...if you dig bluesy stoner rock you will dig them like I do.
I'm continuing with the Dissected Monster series. This time around it's my favorite monster ever - The Creature! Of all the monsters from that period the Gill Man still holds up. The design was ahead of its time. When I was a kid and they aired the Creature in 3D I remember running around frantically trying to earn $1.50 to buy the 3D glasses from Open Pantry down the block. I begged my mom to help me adjust our old tv to the correct frequency so the 3D 'technology' actually worked. It was a glorious day that I'll always remember.
I had to take some liberties with the anatomy. I combined fish anatomy with human anatomy. It was a challenge but also very fun to research. (Because I am a nerd...)

The poster is 18”x24” Screen Print edition of 100 Signed & Numbered

Mark Englert Woody Allen Sleeper Print on sale

No comments:

Mark Englert has a new print for sale titled "I'd hate to see what they use for fertilizer".  The first thing Gallery 1988 contacted Mark about doing for them was a piece for their Woody Allen inspired group show. Sleeper was the first Woody Allen movie Mark really enjoyed. He was a little kid at the time, so the slapstick appealed to him and he wasn't old enough to appreciate many of his other movies.

Mark wanted to do a landscape that was unique to a Woody Allen movie, so, just using New York, London, Paris, etc. wouldn't be enough.

Due to some unfortunate printing issues, he didn't make it in time for the show. But the poster is up for sale now

SEDITIONS Gallery Show Frank Kozik and Winston Smith at Varnish Fine Art

1 comment:

Opening Reception: Saturday February 2, 6-9pm
The seditious editions in the show are works of “rebellious disorder” that act as an intellectual call to arms to the public at large to stand against complacency. Each artist repurposes the pop cultural zeitgeist of the 50’s postwar era with punk rock bones to create sometimes complex sometimes bone chillingly simple messages challenging us to look harder at the politics and governments we take for granted are working in our best interests. On exhibit will be original works and limited editions.

Kozik and Smith share the experience of having lived in postwar Europe in the early to mid 70’s, a period of intense upheaval. Kozik’s childhood in Franco Era Spain was full of visually influential authoritarian acts and imagery, evidenced by his use of the propaganda poster format. By contrast Winston Smith’s time in Italy as a teenager was full of class struggle and socio-political turmoil turned to violence that one writer claims “amounted to anarchy.” This state of chaos mixed with a 50’s childhood in a “flyover” state comes into stark relief in his politically tinged collage-montages.

Using imagery of the 50’s and beyond as his starting point, Smith “kidnaps” them from their original contexts, re-purposing them into politically charged tableaus that confront the viewer with the paradoxes and incongruities occurring in front of our eyes. With a sublime humor, Smith talks to us of deep and troubling issues with friendly imagery. Kozik uses the template of the propaganda poster prevalent during and post WWII in the US and Europe to create art print and music poster editions full of visually gripping and supremely graphic scenarios rife with cultural messages of challenge. He has recently turned his graphically keen eye to the world of sculpture, creating limited edition works of some of his most well known images.

Kozik created a special edition of clear orange resin Gipper/Reagan busts for the Varnish show.

Editions will be released for online sales on Saturday Feb 2 at 6pm PST.

4th Anniversary of Inside the Rock Poster Frame and Nakatomi Giveaway

215 comments:

This month marks the 4th Anniversary of the blog. I truly appreciate everyone that takes the time each day to stop by here and check out what's happening. The people that follow on Twitter who put up with non-poster related rants at times and crazy bantering with artists and others. All the people that LIKE the blog on Facebook and get a laugh out of some of the silly pictures I post along with the pictures of framed art. Thank you to all the fans, friends and artists for the support, love, encouragement, advice, suggestions and help as well. It really does mean a lot and I THANK YOU.

4 years ago this month Tim Doyle started Nakatomi. He set up a print shop in his garage and got busy making art. This passed year he moved his print shop into a dedicated studio area after out growing his garage. He now prints work for clients all over the world, designs posters and prints for a long list of clients as well. Next month Tim will have his second solo show of his work at Spoke Art in San Francisco. Tim will be at the opening of the show and promises to wear pants, something he feels very strongly about.

I think it was last year I mentioned to him hey you know we each started our thing at the same time. It never occurred to either of us until then and I suggested doing a giveaway. So here we are at our 4th ANNIVERSARY, traditional 4th Anniversary gifts for married couples are flowers and a modern Anniversary gift is Linen/Silk. Now we are not married in anyway and I dont think you guys want any flowers from us.

So here it is 2 gifts for you my faithful readers, one of Tim's prints from his Unreal Estate II show titled Good News, Everyone. Inspired by the landscape of Futurama this print is 24 x 18 and glows in the dark. You will receive one of the rare Artist Proof copies of the poster. Next up is a mystery tube of posters from Inside the Rock Poster Frame. So two people will get gifts from us.

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment about what piece of UNREAL ESTATE you would like to see Tim take on next to have a chance at winning the print. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the random number generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until midnight EST Thursday January 31 that's almost two days to enter with the winner announced that night.

Tim Doyle - "UnReal Estate II" show opens Thursday, February 7th - 6pm-10pm at Spoke Art in San Francisco. Check the Facebook Event Page HERE

Here is what Tim said about the show-
"Unreal Estate 2 is the follow up from my sold out show from Feb 2012, also hosted at SpokeArt San Fran. The show last year was an absolute blast and my only regret was that I couldn't get to MORE locations than the time I had allowed. So, Ken at Spoke was gracious enough to invite me back for pt. 2 and I was able to put my spin on 10 more locations. The problem with doing a show like this is that there is always ANOTHER location you want to do- it's like a perpetual pop-culture motion machine.  I hope everyone enjoys what I've done this time around, and I hope to see you all at the show!  Thank you."
Send Nakatomi some love on Facebook HERE

Thank you to Tim Doyle, Nakatomi and Ken at Spoke Art for providing the print for the giveaway. Good Luck to everyone that enters

Tiny Bird Press Orange Crate Kid Print Release Details

No comments:

Wood Variant

Rob Schwager of Tiny Bird Press is very excited to announce his first print of the new year.

Just like Rob's first "Remember When" print the "bomber boy," this piece pays tribute to a simpler time. A boy, his dog and his orange crate scooter.

Most kids these days don't know what it's like to play outside for hours on end. My children are guilty of it as well. They're consumed with technology and hand-held gadgets at every turn. When I was a kid, we'd leave the house as early as possible, have adventures outside all day long and then we'd practically have to be hunted down by our parents after dark to come in for dinner and then eventually bed. -Rob Schwager

"Orange Crate Kid"

Notes:
- Hand-printed
- 18″ x 24″ on 100lb American made Cougar natural cover weight paper
- Printed with water based non-toxic inks
- Signed and numbered, edition of 100

**Wood variant - 5 pieces printed on 1/2" thick top choice blonde wood panel.**

Both go on sale Tuesday, January 29th at 7PM Eastern time in the Tiny Bird Press store.
