Steven Lopez Greet Them With Fire Print Release Details
Los Angeles artist Steven Lopez makes his first appearance on 1xRUN today with a great looking print titled Greet Them With Fire. Cool looking print hope we see more of his work in future at 1xRUN.
"This studio painting was part of my solo show at Gauntlet Gallery this year. I feel this piece culminates my exercises in lighting and texture. The elephant was really fun to work with. Especially when I embellished him with Quetzal type feathers. That's why this painting has emotional attachment to me. It combines a story of adversity along with my penchant to push my artistic boundaries.
I've had a few scrapes and bruises over the years to help with the idea. It started out as a conversation with myself that I had over and over again. This helped me understand the possibilities of that conversation and how to relay it visually. If I showed you the first sketch you'd laugh if you didn't know what the final draft looked like. But that's how it started. drawing and redrawing a many times over until it felt right." - Steven Lopez
Along with the print they will have 4 original paintings and 2 drawings on sale as well. They all go on sale at NOON EDT Wednesday at 1xRUN.com

Darin Shock Couch Tour Poster Release
Darin Shock has created the "Official" Couch Tour poster for 2014.
If you don't know, "couch tour" refers to live streaming a concert (either audio or video). This is very popular amongst the jamband scene...aka Darin's world. Oftentimes friends gather for such an occasion but sometimes it's just a man and his dog. He also took this opportunity to pay tribute to some of my favorite posters of this genre.
Anyway this is a 4 color, 24x18" limited edition screen print. The pre-order will help dictate the edition size, which he'll announce after the pre-order period ends. Darin will have a small number available after they're produced but you can go to his store now to guarantee you'll get one. The regular edition will be $25 and the green variant will be $35. The green variant edition shall not exceed 30 prints and there's a one variant limit per individual. Prints will be shipped in 3-4 weeks and will be numbered according to when the order was received. The pre-order period begins now and will end next Tuesday (the 6th) at noon EST.
Orders can be placed here: http://stateofshockstudios.com/store.html

Peeta Tell Your Bumps Print Release Details
Italian artist Peeta is back with a new print at 1xRUN today titled Tell Your Bumps.
"This piece is part of a 2011 production. Most of the works I have painted during the last part of that year follow the same trend: the painting of fictional brush strokes over the 3d piece on canvas. The practice inspired me to create new volumetric and dynamic effects.
Each time I paint a new canvas, I aim to discover the most optimal way to use colors, light and shade to reach a three-dimensional result. Layering splashes of color over the letters brings into keen focus their three-dimensionality, transforming them into real objects that not only cast shadows but also receive or obscure the subsequent blottings and swipes of paint." - Peeta

Alabama Shakes Asheville Poster by Status Serigraph World Premiere Exclusive
Alabama Shakes are at Asheville North Carolina's famous Orange Peel for two nights. Justin Helton of Status Serigraph did the poster for both nights, the poster is 18x24 3-color poster printed with metallic indigo ink. Show Edition of 100 and an Artist edition of 50 signed and numbered.
I asked Justin about the design
The poster is inspired by the ups and downs of relationships and the hoops you jump through sometimes to make them work. A lot of the Alabama Shakes songs are based on relationships and either the downfall of the continuation of them… I see the circus performer as a reference to one of these "relationships" representing the things you go through and do to make them work. Some things are easy, some are hard… and some of it is all for the show. -Justin Helton
For those of us not in North Carolina the poster will go on sale April 30th at a random time between 2-3pm EST. in the Status Serigraph Store HERE

Gabz Escape From New York Poster Release Details
Grey Matter Art and StudioCanal present a New Limited Edition, Screen Print by artist, Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz) for the iconic film “Escape From New York”. This will be the first official poster for the John Carpenter classic released in 1981, featuring Kurt Russell as hero “Snake” Plissken. Also, this will be Grey Matter Art’s second offering and first collaboration with Gabz, who said this about the project, “When Mike Gregory, co-founder of Grey Matter Art offered me an opportunity to work on John Carpenter’s “Escape from New York,” I didn't hesitate much. My main intention was to deliver something a little bit different from what I’ve been known for until now… something less character based, more focused on the movie’s atmosphere, and true to the original poster artwork. Being a fan of the original and iconic poster, my print also has post-apocalyptic streets of New York City, gang members, and the majestic Statue of Liberty (or what was left from it) dominating the skyline. Except Snake Plissken, in my version is all by himself: tired, hurt, on the run, and fighting against all odds. Perceptive viewers should also notice Snake’s plane crossing the red walls of the New York City prison, and the bottom grid which is intended to be a tribute to visual effects used in the movie”. !
Creative Director Mike Gregory also had this to add “When we had the chance to obtain the rights to “Escape from New York," I was very excited and honored to have a shot at it. This movie, in my eyes is a true 80’s classic, which still holds up to this day. Snake is such an iconic character, and I wanted to have this movie presented in a way that does it justice. Being this is the first authorized art poster based on the film, there was only one artist in my eyes that I wanted to take on this project, and that was Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz). Though most collectors are probably used to his multiple character compositions, I think he did a great job that separates this from his other work, focusing mainly on Snake, when he is injured, and at his lowest. Gabz depicted this perfectly, and we are very proud to have such a great poster to release to the public. People have been waiting for this movie to have an official poster for it, and I think this is the one.”!
