Brad Klausen Mike McCready Mad Season Sonic Evolution Seattle Poster World Premiere Exclusive

1 comment:

Tonight Pearl Jam's Mike McCready joins the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall for a special night of music. Sonic Evolution celebrates the past, present and future of music with brand-new symphonic compositions inspired by musical icons Pearl Jam, Nirvana and more. PLUS! Mad Season's Mike McCready and Barrett Martin team up with Chris Cornell, Duff McKagan and other guests for a special performance.

For this event Brad Klausen has created an equally special poster. Here is what Brad said regarding the design based off the Waking the Horizon title of Mike's orchestral composition and Mike's comments:
McCready was inspired by “looking at the sunrise and thinking of how many possibilities for change there are in life, and also thinking of the millions of sunrises that have happened and what that means to me in terms of waking to my truth each day.”

I only got 3 sunrises in there, originally there was gonna be more then 3 (couldn't do a million...) but it just got kinda cluttered so I went with 3... and the mushrooms are a reference to the name Mad Season...
The poster is a 14.1 x 24.5 inch screen print with an edition of 300. 200 will be on sale tonight at the show and Brad will have 100 for sale either Saturday or Monday in his store. As soon as he decides I will update this post.

UPDATE

Posters will be on sale Monday Feb. 2nd at 9 Am Pacific

Ames Bros & Rene Gagnon Super Bowl Edition of Free Friday Poster Giveaway

64 comments:

As most everyone knows Super Bowl XLIX 49 is happening this Sunday as the New England Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in Phoenix, Arizona. Leading up the game balls seem to be the main topic everyone is talking about. Well now it's going to be posters as well. I thought this weeks Free Friday Poster Giveaway would be fun by making it a little different. Two artists who are fans of teams and you the readers would be the winner.

So representing the Seattle Seahawks are Ames Bros. Based in Seattle and as you all know have a long history of creating Pearl Jam posters along with work for many other bands and sweet t-shirts. They have donated one signed copy of the Pearl Jam Vs Ames Bros Book: 13 Years of Tour Posters - a chronology of Pearl Jam's celebrated concert posters spanning 1995 to 2007. And one Seattle Seahawks vs Hunger 2015 'Firehawk' T-Shirt. For more info on helping kick hunger, visit the official Seattle Seahawks Kick Hunger Challenge web page and the Food Lifeline website.

Representing the New England Patriots is Rene Gagnon. Rene is graffiti artist and fine art creator who has been putting his work up in the streets for many years. Along with creating prints that always have a great bit of social commentary and humor to them. Rene has donated a mystery tube of 4 prints. If you have ever ordered anything from him you know he always includes good stuff. The only thing Rene has ever deflated are pressurized cans of spray paint...

So how is this going to work you ask ? You leave a comment with the team you think is going to win the Super Bowl. After the game is over I will delete all the comments from people that picked the losing team and use the random number generator to pick one winner that will win what the respective artist has donated for the giveaway.

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment about who you think will win the Super Bowl to have a chance at winning the goodies. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the Random Number Generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until 6:00 PM EST Sunday February  1 with the winner announced on Monday.

Thank you to Rene Gagnon for his generous donation of 4 prints. Head over to  www.renegagnonfineart.com/ to see all his work.

Visit the Ames Bros Official Store for ingeniously clever graphic t-shirts, limited edition concert posters and commercial graphic design services.

Daniel Danger Days of Mondo Past Poster Release

No comments:

When an artist attends one of the Flatstock shows they usually create a poster. Off and on when Daniel Danger created one he put himself or his friends on the poster and would include some funny current poster world events or other little inside jokes (My favorite being Austin 2008). All that has led up to the greatest poster he has ever done, Days of Mondo Past.

This piece of hilarious work is knock on the iconic cover of Uncanny X-Men #141 from the early 80s. In a dystopian future, the Sentinels control the United States, and have hunted mutants or placed them in camps or straight murdered them. Kitty Pryde's mind is sent back in time to her younger self and she attempts to stop this horrible future from happening.

Daniel Danger on the idea behind his poster:
"Lets assume internet message boards are Sentinels, and uh, Rob Jones is Wolverine. Mitch is definitely Kitty Pryde. Draw your own parallel past this point. This is absolutely an idea i had at 4am in the morning if that wasn't painfully obvious, and enjoyed a few days of working wildly outside of my style. have fun with it, i certainly did."

The poster is an 24x36" 7 or 8 color screenprint that is a casual timed edition since Daniel has no idea how many people will actually want this outside of his artist friends and pals at Mondo, and will print to match reasonable interest. I love it and think it's funny as hell nice job DD.

Matt Leunig Eric Church Denver & Spokane Posters Release

No comments:

Matt Leunig is releasing a couple more posters for the current Eric Church “Outlaw” Tour, for Denver & Spokane. The Denver concept was originally for a Philly show a couple months back but the poster was pulled. The design was mostly finished and he was able to change it up a bit and adapt it for the Denver stop. In coming up with concept Matt kept thinking of those old “Ride to Hell” biker patches and wanted to come up with an image that had almost a story to it.

The Spokane concept came from a desire to incorporate some of American Indian influence into the art without going too over the top. Matt liked the idea of a Dreamcatcher built out of motorcycle parts. A mobile of sin. Plus cool and furry Bison are,.. their skulls look pretty badass.

The Denver poster is 18′ x 24′, 4-color and had a print run of 400.

The Spokane poster is 18′ x 24′, 4-color and had a print run of 290. Matt will have a very limited run of Artist Prints (signed/AP) of both prints available the day after the Spokane event,

On sale Friday, January 30th 11AM PST at ScrapedKnee.com

Tyler Stout Alien Movie Poster Release From Mondo

3 comments:

Last night in Austin, Texas Mondo held a special screening of the classic movie Alien. With it came the chance to purchase a Tyler Stout poster for the movie. The poster world held their collective breath through much of the night, much like the Catholics waiting for the new Pope to be chosen. Waiting for the first pictures to be posted online like smoke from St Peter's Basilica. The church bells were not ringing in St Mary's when it was revealed, the only sound heard was fans exhaling like they had just been hit in the stomach by Mike Tyson. The online reception to the posters has been a mixture of huge disappointment and down right outrage.

Many people have said it looks like a motion picture (note the space) soundtrack cover forced into being a poster and I have to agree. The layout and composition look pieced together. Could we have at least gotten Jonesy on the poster ? The worst part is the day is wrong on the poster. Alien is beloved my millions of people and after all this time Mondo has set peoples expectations so high errors like this should not happen.

Both posters are 24 x 36 inch screen prints. The red regular has an edition of 510 and will cost $60. The green variant has an edition of 235 and will cost $110.

Mondo will be releasing both editions of the poster at random time on Friday.

Nicole Gustafsson Snoopy Valentine Print Release Details

No comments:

Dark Hall Mansion is most pleased to welcome artist Nicole Gustafsson and her unique take on Peanuts, Valentine's Day, the charm of old school homemade valentines and love!

Dark Hall Mansion, under license from Peanuts Worldwide, will release Nicole Gustafsson's "Snoopy Valentine," a charming ode to Valentine's Day by way of Charles Schulz's Peanuts gang. Her lovely and subtle original piece is fully painted by hand and is at once all Peanuts and very much Nicole; from the quite impressive cutting skills of everyone's favorite beagle to the charm of old friends in a most unique setting, it's Nicole's touches such as Charlie's classic zigzag shirt pattern as backdrop or his relaxed and faithful pose awaiting his valentine on a mailbox- shaped handle that not only gently nods at classic Peanuts films like "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" but references one of Charles Schulz's most poignant and overarching of themes, love, and its endless complexity.

Nicole was delighted to work on an official Peanuts piece:
"Growing up it seems like there was always aspects of Peanuts that were part of our lives. Watching Peanuts TV specials over the holidays and hanging little ornaments of Snoopy and characters on our Christmas tree, or the time I got a really big valentine with Snoopy holding a heart. So when I was asked to create a piece based on Peanuts, I immediately thought of all these fun times I had with my family and friends."

DHM is most pleased and fortunate to have Nicole and our officially licensed Nicole Gustafsson "Snoopy Valentine" editions will be available in a Standard, Variant, and extremely select Canvas edition of just 10, with 5 canvases based on each colorway.

All "Snoopy Valentine" pieces are strictly numbered giclee editions and go on sale THIS FRIDAY, January 30, on Dark Hall Mansion's dedicated store page here: http://www.darkhallmansionstore.com/ at 9:30 AM PST

PangeaSeed and special guest artists Marko Manev are pleased to announce the first official print release of our 2015 print suite "Tales from the Deep: Stories, Myths & Monsters" - a fine art print suite to help save our seas.

Artist: Marko Manev
Title: Descent into Madness

Artist statement: "I choose to do a tribute of the classic book by Herman Melville because of the timeless struggle of man vs nature I think that Ahab’s irrational drive to hunt and kill his “nemesis”, an albino sperm whale, really resonates with todays mindless consumption and destroying of the ocean habitats by man. Humanity needs to finally realize that we can no longer dissociate us of nature. By destroying everything around us, we are destroying ourselves most of all. Nature will continue to exist in one form or another, with or without humanity. It is our responsibility as dominant species on the planet to be custodians of everything around us."

Print details: four color screen print on 100lb cougar white
