The Who James Eads Poster Release

The Who released their highly acclaimed rock opera Tommy in May of 1969 that was supported by a massive tour throughout North America and Europe. The Tommy Tour came to its conclusion 50 years ago, December 18, 1970, at The Roundhouse in London (fun fact: opening for the band that evening was a young musician named Elton John). It was a night of celebration for the band, who were in extra good spirits that evening.

To commemorate this historic show, James R. Eads created a beautiful print setting the scene of a wintery yet glowing city of London, the band's energy lighting the city through their music during the holiday season.

The Doors New Orleans Poster By Luke Martin Release

Iconic by Collectionzz is releasing official posters for The Doors by Luke Martin commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the band’s final concert with lead singer Jim Morrison.

The Doors played what turned out to be the band’s final concert with Morrison on December 12, 1970, at the fabled A Warehouse concert hall on Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans. While the performance itself went so poorly the band called off the tour the next day, the Warehouse show has passed into rock ‘n’ roll legend much like Morrison himself.

The Doors broke out of Los Angeles with 1967’s “Light My Fire,” and Morrison was the leather pants-wearing Lizard King, a charismatic counterculture sex symbol shaman who excited audiences. But by the time he arrived onstage at A Warehouse, “he had been living his life like a Roman candle burning at both ends for the last five years,” said David Dutkowski, The Doors’ official archivist.

The 20-song set opened with “Roadhouse Blues” and “Back Door Man.” At some point, Morrison stopped singing and sat down. “Multiple band members said it was like something left him at that moment,” says Dutkowski. “Ray Manzarek (who died in 2013) swore he looked up from his keyboard and saw Jim’s spirit leave his body. He swears the shamanistic energy, the soul of Jim Morrison, flowed out of his body and with it, the will to perform.”

During the final song, “The End,” Morrison lost it.

“I was standing on the side of the stage at the end,” recalled concert promotor Don Fox. “Jim started talking about life and death and what was going on in the world in 1970. All of a sudden, he took the mic stand and started smashing it and smashing it right into the stage floor. And then he walks off.” Fox went over to where Morrison had been standing “and there’s a hole in the stage. He drove the mic stand right through. He’s the only artist I’ve ever seen put a hole in the stage.”

Following the show the other band members had a meeting at which they agreed that the New Orleans show should be their live swan song, since Morrison's unpredictability made further touring impractical. Morrison participated in the recording sessions for L.A. Woman, then went to Paris in March while the rest of the band finished up the mixing sessions. Weeks later, on July 3, 1971, he turned up dead. He was 27.

Following The Doors show at A Warehouse, Fox repaired the damaged section of the stage. Upon learning of Morrison’s death, he carved “In Memory of Jim Morrison” into the plywood patch. “In a strange way, the Warehouse and Jim Morrison are linked together forever.”

Pantera Posters By Matt Ryan Tobin Release

Reinventing the Steel was released on March 21, 2000, twenty years ago, and the music and the memory live on stronger than ever today. "Goddamn Electric” was Pantera's love song to heavy metal, and as such, it gives a much deserved salute to the band's own favorite groups Black Sabbath and Slayer. "Phil was calling out all these bands that stuck true to their guns," Dimebag explained to Guitar World in 2000. When Phil Anselmo belts out the words “your trust is in whisky, weed, and Black Sabbath” in “Goddamn Electric,” it hits hard every time. Collectionzz is commemorating this song and album with amazing prints by Matt Ryan Tobin.
"This song explodes. The moment I first heard it, so did my head. I interpret this song being about finding salvation in music and happiness in the little things. At the end of the day, regardless what the world throws at you - you always have whiskey, weed…and Pantera." - Matt Ryan Tobin

Dimensions: 18x24 inches
Regular edition printed full-bleed with hand-deckle edges on Canson Aquarelle 310gsm archival paper | Variant edition printed on Slickrock Metallic Pearl 260gsm

Release date: Thursday, December 3 at 12 pm PST via shop.pangeaseed.org

Artist statement:
"Coral reefs have many important functions. For example, they provide shelter for a huge variety of underwater organisms. Many species of fish live there in their early life before swimming out to the open sea. It is a great example of the natural beauty and magic of our oceans. A beauty that is losing its lifeforce and turning into a colorless underwater wasteland devoid of all life due to human impact.

My starting point for this project was the impact of coastal development and the negative and deadly effects it has on the ecosystems close to the shore. 40% of the world's population lives close to the coast, something that causes numerous threats to corals through the ever growing development of human infrastructure and the threat from global warming." - Kilian Eng
