Motley Crue Santa Monica Print By Wildner Lima Release

On April 8, 1982, Mötley Crüe played a sold out show at the 3,500 capacity Santa Monica Civic, which was produced by racing car promoter Steve Quercio who saw the band play the Whisky and wanted to help get them to the next level.

Mötley Crüe shared the stage with a couple of race cars owned by John Force. As they played, they set fire to various instruments and debuted their new song "Knock 'Em Dead Kid." The performance and number of ticket sales for a local "Hollywood club band" finally attracted the attention of record labels, and the event becomes a turning point for the Crüe.

Iconic by Collectionzz couldn't celebrate MC40 without creating screenprints commemorating this crazy show, with new art by the always excellent Wildner Lima!
It was an honor to develop this illustration for Mötley Crüe. The style and attitude they had at this stage always delighted me a lot, and I tried to be very faithful to these characteristics. I hope that the fans, like me, feel happy with the memory that this work brings. -Wildner Lima

Jimi Hendrix Experience Bag O'Nails Club 1967 Poster By Rhys Cooper Release

Iconic by Collectionzz commemorates many iconic concerts, but sometimes a particular concert just stands out. This is one of those times and they turned to Rhys Cooper to create an equally epic poster.

When Jimi Hendrix first came to England, the word was out that a phenomenal guitar player from the United States was in town. On January 11, 1967, the newly formed Jimi Hendrix Experience spent a full day of recording 'Purple Haze' and 'The Wind Cries Mary'. Later that day, The Jimi Hendrix Experience performed two shows at the venerable Bag O’Nails, a tiny but influential music business Mecca in London’s Soho.

Hendrix continued to make waves in the local music scene, and whenever possible, a large group of fellow musicians would attend The Experience’s shows. Virtually every major British blues guitarist found themselves at this performance. The Beatles’ Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were in attendance, as was The Who’s Pete Townshend and John Entwistle, The Rolling Stones’ Bill Wayman, and The Cream’s Eric Clapton.

Out of that seething maelstrom of creativity, heavy blues would be born; and every blues guitarist found themself rethinking their musical direction.

Now fifty years to the day of The Who live at the Young Vic, Iconic by Collectionzz are releasing this special, limited edition screenprinted poster by Paul Kreizenbeck to commemorate not only this performance, but a legendary era of one of the best and most influential rock bands in history!

Elton John New York Poster By Ryan Richardson Pratt Release

Elton John made his American concert debut in the summer of 1970, and in October he released his third album in less than two years, Tumbleweed Connection. By year's end, he was back in the States for more shows, one of which would be the setting for his first live LP, 17-11-70. On November 17, 1970 John gave a performance with drummer Nigel Olsson and bassist Dee Murray at A&R Recording Studios in New York City. The show was set up as a promotion for his new LP, and was broadcast live on WABC-FM.

John gave one of his most definitive early performances on 17-11-70. In addition to original material like "Take Me to the Pilot," "Burn Down the Mission" and "Sixty Years On," John and the band take on songs by the Rolling Stones ("Honky Tonk Women") and a medley that includes nods to both Elvis Presley and the Beatles. John cut his hand at some point during the performance, and by the end of the show, the piano keys were covered with blood. John has stated in several interviews that he believes that this recording is his best live performance.

According to John, a live album was never planned as a release. Recordings of the broadcast, however, were so popular among bootleggers it prompted the record label to release it as an album on April 9, 1971. John also had released 2 full studio albums (Elton John and Tumbleweed Connection) and a movie soundtrack (Friends) when the live LP was issued, making him the first musician or band since The Beatles to have 4 records simultaneously land in the Top 100.

Collectionzz are honored to commemorate another golden anniversary for the iconic Elton John with these official screenprints by Ryan Richardson Pratt:

It was an exciting challenge illustrating this milestone in Elton's trajectory. I tried to focus on what made this night's performance special. The image is an echo of the stark original album cover, slightly expanded and illuminated with the "Bad Side of the Moon" looming above. It's Elton before the iconic costumes and stadiums of fans. Stripped down and intimate. A showcase of the hungry young rising star with his leg kicked up, fingers assailing the keys, while lighting up the airwaves and midtown Manhattan skyline with his unique energy and attitude. -Ryan Richardson Pratt

Artist Statement:

"When humans love something we tend to protect it. If we could all find some sort of connection to the natural world it will no doubt lead to more care for our environment. The more we remember that we are all in this together and everything works together, the more we will value the importance of a healthy and biodiverse planet. My design was created to represent this connection we have with nature.

Many people, including myself, have found an appreciation for nature through outdoor activities such as surfing. When you fall in love with activities that are so directly related to breathable air, clean water, stable weather patterns, and a healthy snowpack you can’t help but think about what you can do to protect the environment. I hope to encourage more people to get outside and experience the natural world in order to nurture our connection and love for it." - Hannah Eddy

Black Crowes Atlanta Poster By Vance Kelly Release

In 1990 The Black Crowes gave the rock genre a much-needed swift kick in the ass with their debut album Shake Your Money Maker. That album, fueled by singles "Jealous Again," "Twice As Hard," "She Talks To Angels," and a rollicking cover of fellow Georgian Otis Redding's "Hard To Handle," immediately took the music world by storm, selling over 5 million records and topping Rolling Stone's "Best New American Band Readers Poll" in late 1990.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, the band recently released a multi-format reissue of Shake Your Money Maker, which included a previously unreleased iconic live set from December 20, 1990 at The Center Stage in Atlanta, GA. The Robinson brothers sat down with the AJC to discuss what made that show at Atlanta’s Center Stage so special:
CR: We did two or three nights there and one of them was my 24th birthday. The year before we were probably playing The Cotton Club or The Point in Little Five Points to 30 people. To have that first year of success with the record and us (becoming) The Black Crowes – it was super special to see all of our friends and family there. People magazine was there to interview our parents! We were so excited to have Chuck Leavell (who played on the album) play on those shows. The footage from the “She Talks to Angels” video was from those shows.

RR: I was 19 when we made (“Shake Your Moneymaker”) and realistically a year out of high school and living with my parents. So to get on a bus and go out for a year and come back to two or three sold-out shows at this venue where we had watched so many people play…I mean, I saw the Replacements there, I saw Iggy Pop with Jane’s Addiction opening, The Church - just so many cool bands had played there. For us to come back and play it was pretty cool. I was shocked at how good the show sounded. There was a lot of energy, a lot of good playing, a lot of excitement.
Vance Kelly created the official poster for us commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Homecoming Concerts:
When The Black Crowes first came on the scene back in 1990, I was blown away. I loved their 70's Rock and Blues vibe and still a fan to this day. I used their original two crows from that era for inspiration and took it into a more ethereal realm. - Vance Kelly
