Trey Anastasio Band Oakland Poster by Rich Kelly Release Details

No comments:

Rich Kelly was recently tasked with creating a poster for the Trey Anastasio Band's April 19 & 20 shows in Oakland, CA. In line with a bunch of other illustrations he has created, he was drawn to the "giant guy accompanied by a bunch of little guys." Our friend relaxing atop the Fox Theater is actually the great great grandson of this dude, who was the grandson of this dude. Maybe someday Rich can have a show of his giants with a giant family tree.

The poster is 18in x 24in five colors on French 100# Speckletone Old Green paper with a signed and numbered edition of 300.

Anyway, he will be selling a small portion of these posters on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 11:00am EST. They will be $50. Here is the link to the store.

The ACME Corporation Poster by Rob Loukotka Release Details

No comments:

Rob Loukotka's The ACME Corporation posters were a very very popular Kickstarter project that ended up in the Wall Street Journal and Wired. He only sold prints through Kickstarter, but will have extras, APs, and a variant launching on Thursday. As a fan of the Road Runner & Wiley Coyote cartoons this is very cool poster.

Rob watched every Coyote & Road Runner episode, then hand drew all 126 wacky gadgets, explosives, and items that appeared in the cartoons.

Tornado seeds! Giant magnets! Dynamite! Rocket powered roller skates! Anvils! Giant Rubber Bands! Rob spent over 100 hours illustrating, designing, and researching this one poster.

The fictional ACME Corporation appeared in nearly all 43 Coyote & Road Runner cartoons from 1949-1994. They make any product you can imagine. He has loved The ACME Corporation since he was a kid because they're a true dream factory.

How amazing would it be if The ACME Corporation were real? That's why he made this poster; to make our world a little crazier. Only a giant 24x36" poster can capture the incredible detail of these fun items. The poster was screen printed on thick 'Wild Cherry Red' French Paper, signed and numbered by him.

Along with the red one he is releasing a Metallic Copper Variant.

The drop date is Thursday, May 2nd at Noon CDT (1pm EDT). Available exclusively in his online store: http://fringefocus.bigcartel.com/

These posters are printed and ready for you to put up on your wall.

Casey Weldon Chewie Print On Sale Today

No comments:

Casey Weldon had done a series of four eyed cats several years ago that were just basically portraits, and he had always wanted to expand on the idea a little using more candid and scenic shots.  This piece is one of six in a series that was included in his solo show at Trifecta Gallery in Las Vegas last March. They made lost kitty posters to promote it around town.

"This particular kitty is Chewie, who happens to belong to amazing artist Sarah Joncas. I love the begging look on his face and am really happy how the slightly psychedelic approach to the floors came out. I had done a series of four eyed cats several years ago that were just basically portraits, and I had always wanted to expand on the idea a little using more candid and scenic shots. This piece is one of six in a series that was included in my solo show at Trifecta Gallery in Las Vegas last March." - Casey Weldon

Chewie is a 17 x 18 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 300gsm Museum Natural White Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 50

Scott Hove "Guns and Ecstasy" at Spoke Art Opens Thursday

Scott Hove - “Guns and Ecstasy” solo exhibition at Spoke Art
May 2nd - May 25th
Spoke Art gallery is proud to present “Guns and Ecstasy” the latest solo show from BayArea mixed media sculptor Scott Hove.

Following Hove’s participation with Spoke Art at the recent Miami and New York City art fairs in 2012 and 2013, we are honored to have a new body of work by the artist on view in his hometown of San Francisco this month.

Known primarily for his ferocious cake and taxidermy sculptures, Hove expounds upon his unique medium in his latest body of work, “Guns and Ecstasy”. For this exhibition, Hove has worked with repurposed and modified twelve assault weapons, and created what he calls "A Pentagonal Disco Infinity Chamber"... This is a one-person-at-a-time mirrored cake room with a disco ball and an endless sense of euphoric space.

Scott has this to say about the show:
"The title, "Guns and Ecstasy", alludes to having the freedom to choose a driving
fantasy that will affect our outlook, which in turn directly affects everyone around us. We can choose a paranoia fantasy where we need to fortify against an imminent attack from uncontrollable aspect of a crumbling society, grasping for a sense of control. This position seems to be embodied and leveraged by the NRA, and the assault weapon has become the central fetish object of the dialogue. We can also choose to look for connection, beauty and celebration, and surrender ourselves to a world where nothing will ever be certain again."

“Guns and Ecstasy” opens Thursday, May 2nd with an opening reception from 6pm -10pm. The artist will be in attendance and complimentary refreshments will be served.

The show will be on view through Saturday, May 25th.
Who: Scott Hove solo show
What: “Guns and Ecstasy” an exhibition of new works and installation
