EMEK has been a fan of Michael Franti for over 20 years, since his days in The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. The effortless way he combines groovy beats with positive socially conscious messages. So, an idea came to me in a dream, it was a little different...the setting of a faceless lonely old man sitting on a park bench feeding the pigeons as a discarded newspaper blows by across a desolate landscape.....closer inspection reveals the pigeon is actually a peace dove, and in the man's hand is the earth (... a metaphor for a Higher Power).
The poster was done in Scratchboard, starting with an all black board, then using an exacto blade to scratch away the black to reveal white underneath.
The poster is 18 x 24 and printed on a heavy cream colored paper.
Price is $60 plus shipping.
100 were sold at the show, and a signed and numbered and embossed and doodled edition of 200 was split between the band and EMEK.
EMEK's copies go on sale this Thursday at noon Pacific Time EMEK.net
