A Brazilian writer put it best. "We came to conquer nature," he said. "Nature, in her turn, simply smiled a knowing smile - and seduced us." This work by Suarez is a fitting visual to accompany that romantic observation. The child/woman's eyes are as luminous as dawn and as knowing as experience can make them. Her hair is fiery and each strand is a flame. But the most arresting element in the picture is the coiling and affectionate creature around her neck. It is not a serpent, but it obviously evokes the memory of Eve - definitive archetype of both sensual discovery and eternal femininity. In this case, however, it is the tempter who (like the viewer) is tempted and the fruitful fragrance of that flower must be heavenly indeed.
Speaking about her new piece, Tatiana explains "Leopard was done specifically for the folks at 1xRUN. I’ve got a seemly collection of animal pictures, which I often flip through when I’m in need of inspiration for a new piece. The decision to use a leopard gecko was simply, me coming across the photo, and remembering that I’ve been eager to use one in a painting for a while now. That, and also that I think they’re groovy – swapping his brown spots to fuchsia would make him even groovier. The ladies in my paintings are usually adorned with flowers of some sort, this time I decided to have that accent tattooed to her neck. "
"Each print would be hand embellished with some metallic hair strands; adding to the groovy." – Tatiana
