Things We Hold Dear Print by Jason Robert Snyder

Back for his second RUN, Jason Snyder has brought us his latest print Things We Hold Dear. This piece is pulled from Jason's recent exhibition of the same name at the Harold Golen Gallery in Miami, Florida.

"The idea for this piece came about as I was thinking about the arbitrary nature of certain things that we hold dear personally, and as a society. In the image, the woman is holding a wild turkey close to her, which seems absurd. But why does the turkey’s life have any less value than other animals? I would argue that the turkey is one of the more important animals to the united states’ history, but it is a metaphor, so that’s a whole other story. the piece was painted over a period of probably 2 months. Not sure the number of hours, but probably in the neighborhood of 40 hours total painting time if I had to guess. " - Jason Snyder

Jason Robert Snyder spent most of his childhood on a farm in Pennsylvania, studying his surroundings and formulating ideas of the world around him. He began transferring his ideas through oil paint while attending the Pennsylvania State University as an architectural engineering student. Completely self taught through trial and error in the years since, he has developed his unique style and interpretation of reality to what it is today.
