Derek Hess NVA Flightless Bird Print On Sale Today
Joining 1xRUN for his 2nd RUN they welcome back the incomparable Derek Hess. For his first RUN, Derek brought us the intricate line work of the musically themed "Ground" inspired by Celtic Frost (and Electric Light Orchestra...)
For this RUN, Derek brings us one of his latest pieces with the hybrid of the North Vietnamese battle tank spliced with an ostrich for the NVA Flightless Bird.
"I'm a big fan of tanks. The idea came to me one day that the beak and head of a bird could work as a tank turret. The title of this piece "NVA Flightless Bird" is the combination of a North Vietnamese army tank turret and an ostrich. The North Vietnamese army was referred to as the NVA during the war. The turret is from a soviet T-54 tank, the Russians supplied North Vietnam with weapons during the Vietnam war, and the ostrich is known as a flightless bird. Everyone needs and image of an ostrich with a T-54 tank turret head flying a North Vietnam flag rocking Nike high heels wading through the wreckage of American tanks hanging above their mantle." - Derek Hess
NVA Flightless Bird is 16 x 20 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper with an edition of 40 signed and numbered
On Sale today at NOON EST at 1xRUN.com. They will also have the original sketch and painting on sale as well
