ESSAM NYPD Drone Campaign Print Release
1xRUN are excited to welcome ESSAM for his debut RUN of his now infamous New York City Police Department Drone Campaign Street Signs.
ESSAM, received national attention for his controversial artwork depicting New York Police Department drones dropping bombs on innocent civilians and is now facing felony charges related to his series of street signs and NYPD Drone Faux Ad Campaign.
"The drone project was born out of what I saw as a need for a conversation on the subject of drone use both internationally and domestically. The originals were printed in the same manner commercial advertising is printed for phone booths in New York City with a UV-cured inkjet on styrene, a very durable plastic, and they all went up in phone booth ad space around the city. I designed the piece in June of 2012 but they didn’t hit the streets until this past September. The debut was timed with the general assembly of the UN, which may have something to do with my current predicament." - ESSAM
Drone #1 is a 40 x 21 Inches 4-Color Screen Prints on Heavyweight Cotton Fine Art Paper
Drone #2 is 22 x 40 Inches 4-Color Screen Prints on Heavyweight Cotton Fine Art Paper
Both are editions of 55 that come signed and numbered.
On the morning of November 28th, ESSAM was arrested in his home after being pursued for nearly a year by the NYPD for making provocative street art commenting on the domestic and international use of drone aircraft (UAV’s) by the United States and its police departments. The work has been featured in the New Yorker, ANIMAL, Complex magazine, Portland Press Herald, and countless other periodicals, as well as on CNN, Fox Business, and Russia Today.
Currently ESSAM faces a litany of charges seemingly designed to quell his first amendment right to speak freely. By purchasing this print you help to keep our right to free speech.
