Chuck Sperry Widespread Panic New York City Holiday Poster Giveaway

Chuck Sperry never fails to surprise and amaze me in new ways it seems. I mentioned the giveaway to him and he was like sure how about such and such poster. I'm like yeah that would be cool, I sometimes ask artists for certain posters like Brad Klausen's Pearl Jam poster yesterday since I think it's badass. Most of the time I leave it up to the artists since I'm not sure what they have available and grateful for anything they want to giveaway to you fine folks.

Chuck comes back 90 minutes later with I changed my mind lets giveaway the Widespread Panic Madison Square Garden New York City poster that is an Artist Proof. I responded with "wholly shit ok thank you" hahaha.

So here it is one of the coolest Christmas gifts you might ever get, from the man himself Chuck.

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment about your most special Christmas/Holiday Time Memory (want to make sure people know Chuck is not looking for Halloween stories or something) to have a chance at winning the posters. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the random number generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until Midnight PST Sunday December 21 with the winner announced on Sunday

HUGE THANK YOU to Chuck Sperry for one of the most incredible giveaways this year on the blog. Thank you to everyone that stops by the blog every day also.  Happy to bring you guys all the giveaways that I do and people like Chuck that make them happen.

  1. Best memory was when the small creek outside my in-laws house froze overnight one Chritmas a few years back, so we could skate along it under the trees that made a natural cathedral like roof overhead. that was nice.

  6. For me, the best Christmas memory is sitting at the top of the stairs with my older brother and little sister, waitinf for what seemed like hours until Mom and Dad were up and ready Christmas morning, and we would all head downstairs together. One particular year, I could have sworn I heard "activity" on the roof, despite the fact that I was "a New York City kid" and we didn't have a fireplace :-) Thanks! Jim LaFemina

  9. We took our daughter to a Christmas party last year and they asked if anyone would like to say a blessing before we ate. My daughter volunteered. Now being Jewish, I was pretty amazed, but we let her go with it and she said, "Baruch ata adonai, eloheinu melach haloam, bareh perie, HA CHRISTMAS!!" -- there was silence and then laughter, you kind of had to be there but our evening and i think it made everyones evening too. -- Matthew Steinberg

  19. My favorite Christmas memory is from 1989, but I get to relive it each year. My whole family, cousins, grandparents, aunt and uncle, etc went to the theatre and saw Christmas Vacation. It came out in December of 1989. Every year since then when I am with my parents and my sister and her family we watch Christmas Vacation and it never gets old. Merry Christmas Everyone!!

  20. My fondest Christmas memory was getting a cheap pair of pants from Weiner's clothing store in Houston one year. I hated them so much. I didn't understand until years later that my parents were almost completely bankrupt at the time and not only struggling to not lose our house, but borrowing money from friends and family to pay for food and yet they still tried to give me a nice Christmas.

  21. My most special Christmas memery was last year 2014. It was the first time in 20 my older brother spent the holidays with us. He had a fall out with my parents over 20 years ago and vowed never to see them again, after years of begging him to let things go, he finally did, and we had the best Christmas ever, things have been resolved between him and my parents. I 'm striving to make this Holiday season even more special since my mother and father just turned 80. Life is so short, and the Holiday's are totally about celebrating us beting together.

I have 3 older brothers and my parents were always overly generous at Christmas time. best memory is one year we got what had to be the entire Evel Kneivel set of toys....a couple of motorcycles, the scramble van, the funny car, the rocket cycle, and the car that broke apart on impact. We had a great time with that stuff, I still wish I had it today, firmly in my mid 40's.

  30. So, one of my best holiday memories was when I took a trip to Australia and reached Perth on Christmas Day. Its one thing to celebrate the holidays in the winter, but its completely different to experience Xmas and New Years in the prime of summer.

The hostel I was staying at threw an outdoor BBQ for its guests and it was just a completely different vibe - drinking and getting sun, two things that make a great holiday.

  31. During Christmas Eve when I was about seven, my Dad stayed home with me as I had pneumonia. The entire family was about an hour away - as they already had planned a party. I don't remember too much, but what I do remember is everyone drove out to our house to be with my Dad and me. They packed up all the gifts and all of the food, and we they celebrated the day with me! Apparently it was my Uncle's idea, and I will never forget that day, nor him.

  34. Best Holiday Memory: Waking up Christmas morning, running downstairs to the tree and finding the 2' Alien figurine with a movable mouth and GID skull. You would squeeze the back of the head and the mouth would open and out came the "mini-mouth". I remember this because I had disobeyed my parents and snuck downstairs in the middle of the night to watch Alien on HBO when they first aired it. It scared the shit out of me and I couldn't tell my parents because I didn't want to get in trouble. So Christmas night and every one after I would lay in my bed with the figurine on the other side of the room, glowing.....staring at me. Couldn't stash him away because I wanted to keep my eye on him at all times. I eventually grew to love Alien once I learned he could grasp army men in his jaws.

Anyway, that's my holiday memory! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

  35. Javier Calderon....I guess my most fond memory of Christmas would have to be whenever we got to take Christmas to Virginia to see ALL of the family. I got one big ass extended family and they all live in Virginia and we live in MS. So it was always nice to see the uncles and aunts and all my cousins and grandparents. Plus it would snow somethingmes. Don't see a whole lot of that stuff down here . Bit Christmas to me is all about the family Nd I used to love getting to spend it with the WHOLE family

  36. My favorite holiday memory might be from this year. My husband just bought us a house over the summer (we had been living with my inlaws for the last year) and this year for the first time since we've been together (11 years) we bought a christmas tree. Our sons are 5 and 2 and they got to buy special ornaments and help decorate. That look of wonder on their faces iaspure happiness for me. When our 2 year old sees the tree he says "I see Christmas mama" and ot melts my heart.

  40. A particularly special holiday memory of mine is also a bittersweet one. It is a testament to the loving community that is Widespread Panic.
I had tickets to the 2003 MSG Halloween run and was unable to make it; my dad was terminally ill and I felt that home was where I needed to be. I sent my friends to NYC with my tickets to be given away and I spent Halloween night on the couch at parents. My dad passed the next morning, and I was grateful that I could be with him. So fast forward 2 months to the saddest Christmas ever. No-one really cared to open gifts, our hearts weren't in it. So imagine my surprise when I opened a card signed from Greta, wishing me well. I was a bit confused, my dog Greta can't write so neatly. The gift attached to the card was an autographed poster from the Halloween run that I had missed. Apparently my mom had called widespread merchandise to order a CD or something I can't even remember asking for, and got to talking with Greta. My mom told her of the dog named Greta and how panic is so important me. She chose to send that poster out of the kindness of her heart. It just means so much to me to be a part of something so positive, that reaches so far and into so many lives, so powerfully. I love my Widespread Panic family. I can't reach into the lives of the band or the many people that are part of making this magic happen, but I do support their causes as often as possible. I believe this community is truly making a difference in the world and I consider myself blessed to be a part of it.

  41. My most special Christmas moment had to do with my Dad. He was a quiet, introspecive individual who fought in World War II. A very kind but quiet man who valued nature and its surroundings above all else. When I was growing up he was always there for us but in a quiet, sort of aloof way and I never really found out much about his inner feelings or thoughts much less the details of his life. One Christmas, late in his life he was alone in the Phoenix area at Christmas time and I offered to come get him from LA to have him spend Christmas with our family. I was actually apprehensive about driving 9 hours with him alone in the car as I thought we would have nothing to talk about and it would seem stressed. It couldn't have been farther from the truth as on that ride he opened up about his entire life and i learned so much about the man and what his life was like. We had a great, great Christmas together and on our ride back to Phoenix we talked non-stop about hundreds of things. A year later he died and I was so glad we got to spend that most precious ride together.

  42. Most special Holiday/Christmas memory(s): I got no kids, and I'm pretty selfish anyway, so my memory is be about me. When I was in high school my parents would send me to baseball camp in Florida for Christmas vacation. I'd usually fly out Christmas afternoon and spend the next 7-10 days in South Florida practicing and playing with other baseball-spoiled kids my age. Learned many a lesson from a MLB players and brought those lessons back to KY. Always a kick ass time away from Winter weather getting my off season baseball fix. Looked forward to those Christmases more than any other.

  56. One Christmas all my family and friends were out of town leaving me home alone. I opened presents by myself then watched: Predator, Wild at Heart, Gremlins 2, Herbie Goes Bananas, Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 and got about half way through Excalibur before I passed out. I thought it was an amazing experience and a tradition to build on. I tried it again next year (people were around this time) and realized it was a horrible idea to repeat.

  113. First thanks for the spiritual giveaway! My favorite christmas was probably in ´99 when a big winterstorm broke into our area (Black Forrest, GErmany) and the whole neighboordhood was pretty bad impacted by the storm. Roofs came down, chimneys and concrete walls. Cars were plattened by trees and most of the roads were closed due to trees that broke. The whole neighborhood came together and we helped each other to clean up and organized some places for the people who´s houses were pretty damage. Overall the most spiritual christmas i had next to the christmas 2011 when our son moved in with us december 25th. Merry Christmas to all out there. Stay safe.

  121. As a child, my brother and I would wake up at the butt-crack of dawn for Christmas morning:: he-man, GI-Joe, Star wars (original), daisy BB guns, four-wheeler, trampoline, etc era. My maternal grandparents would come over and spread the cheer with more molded plastic.

After lunch, we would pick our favorite newly acquired whatever and drive 3 hours north to my paternal grandparents. No seatbelts were worn and fights occurred when someone crossed the center line of the back seat.

Immediately upon arrival, we would take down the German officer's sword that my grandfather brought back from WWII and play until someone cried. After dinner everyone (grandparents, 5 sets of Aunts and uncles, and 10+ cousins) in a flurry of paper would open presents in controlled chaos. The party would continue in a smoke-filled bar-esque room as the adults consumed crappy beer and played Rook, a card game akin to hearts. The kids would run amok unsupervised.

It was a family Christmas everyone should have at least once.

  122. My favorite Christmas memory was from when I was a kid. There was a huge ice storm that knocked down some trees over the bayou. My dad and uncle moved them away from the water, and stacked them up. The way they stacked them basically built a huge fort, and myself and my cousins played in that fort for a week or so over the Christmas break. That time definitely sticks out in my mind as my top Christmas memory.

  126. The fondest memories involve little imaginations at work. During a hike in the snow, my son (who was 3 at the time) told us that he saw a moose. When pressed for a description because no one else saw it, he told us that it was purple with white stars and had wings and giant antlers on its rear end. I saw that moose once at a Dead show, but that's a story for another day...

  135. My favorite Christmas memory was last year. My mother was handed the last box under the Christmas tree. It was wrapped in vintage paper and string with a notes that read, "Sorry for the delay, this got lost in my sleigh" signed S.C. My mother oped the gift to find the toy she has always wanted growing up as a child, but never received due to heavy financial hardships. Me and my siblings heard numerous times of this story. We worked some Christmas magic last year, and made her forgotten Christmas wish come true. Seeing her tears of happiness and joy that morning was the best Christmas gift I could have asked for!

I paid more money for a stronger bandwidth so the lag on our call would not kill the mood. We were living in Texas at the time and all of her family and mine were located in Virginia Beach. It sucked being in Iraq because I missed out on a lot of fun times but it worked out.

  153. My favorite Christmas memory would have to be a Christmas exchange party I had with my Mother's family when I was 8 or 9 in Des Moines, IA. Given that my Mom has 5 sisters and 1 brother... you could imagine the pleasant chaos of togetherness with 16 cousins all of my aunts and my uncle. I got up on Christmas morning to run downstairs to see what was under the tree, but there in front of the fireplace was a plate of cookie crumbs and a glass of milk spilt on the floor. 168. This year I am going to make my best Christmas memories ever! I live in a ski town and Christmas is our busiest week of the year. I have not been able to spend Christmas with my family for 13 years. This year my sister and two nephews are coming to spend Christmas with me. I am so excited that my nephews will be able to see what it is like to live in a snow globe. I can't wait to see their faces when they see the perfectly lit little Christmas village. We are going to have snowflakes kiss our faces as we ski through the forests of aspens and pine. I am excited that I will get to be a memory in their best Christmas ever. 181. Many years ago, one Christmas Eve, I was called out for work to the middle of Wyoming around Noon on cold, cloudy, snowy day by a client. Along the way to the job site, literally in a place along the road that most people would call the 'middle of no where', there was a pickup with its hood up on the roadside. I stopped to see if I could help and the driver was under the hood atop the engine ... he had completely run out of gas. I noticed that there was someone else in the truck holding a bundle. It was his wife and this young couple's week-old baby that they were taking home from the hospital. I used the full gasoline can from my work van (for a work generator we used on job sites) to fill-up his tank and prime the carburetor (it was that much out of gas!) and followed him to the nearest station (~10 miles) making sure he could fill-up. Although I am not overly religious, I think about that baby and young couple every year on Christmas Eve and hope they remember too. Merry Christmas and thanks to Squirt and ItRPF for this special Sperry gift!! Tim V.
