I was going through the giveaway drawer in my flat file and saw this cool looking poster by John Vogl for The String Cheese Incident show in Austin last year. I thought you fine folks would like this one for the giveaway this week. I have heard of the band for years but after pulling it out I thought ok how did they get this name. The band's name come from an incident that occurred when the band was alone in a Colorado bar late at night. After a couple beers the guys got in a big food fight between them involving cheese. They began referring to the night as the "Cheese Incident" shortly after becoming the band name.
The poster is from the show at The Backyard, July 4-6th, 2013. It is a 3 color poster that is a frame friendly 18x24 inches, with a signed and numbered edition of 450.
Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments

ReplyDelete9/26/2003 The Fabulous Fox Theater Atlanta GA and my 15th birthday. My friends bought me a ticket and somehow I convinced my parents to let me go (probably one of their biggest regrets lol). This was before all the electro bullshit, before Han, and when they were still a touring and live performance powerhouse.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this show is fantastic and one of a kind. I moved to Colorado for college and have seen about 50 shows. This is still one of the most unique incidents I've ever been to. It's dark, jazzy, exploritory, and passonate. It's before electro cheese, Han, and when they were still a touring powerhouse making a name for themselves. Out of the 50 this is the ONE that changed my world.
My name is Kevin. E-mail is kmkirkwo@gmail.com just in case. I love the site and what you do. I'm an avid poster collector myself. Thanks, and keep sharing.
