Godmachine La Haine Movie Poster Exclusive World Premiere

With an interesting year ahead, FAMP Art is going through an evolution they didn’t see coming and they’re really excited about it. FAMP wanted to start 2015 off with a small, yet highly relevant print as they worked their way up to a mainstream title and other fun projects.

Mathieu Kassovitz’s 1995 crime drama, La Haine, is one of the most highly regarded French films of the past 20 years and with all the political unrest that exists here in the States and France, it felt fitting to release a print for this now rather than wait.

If you haven’t seen the film, La Haine depicts the lives of few young inner-city Frenchmen after their friend is unjustifiably beaten by the police. A riot ensues and one of the guys finds a cop’s gun, ultimately deciding that if his friend dies, he’s going to kill a cop with it.

As you can see, it’s very relevant and something they felt made sense to release at this point in time. For this print, FAMP teamed up with Le Pacte and popular Welsh artist Godmachine to create a gritty and anarchic poster that reflects the style and passion that the film exudes.

Fun fact: It just so happens that this is one of Godmachine’s all-time favorite films so FAMP were thrilled at the idea of working with him on it.

I asked Godmachine about the design of the poster:
"I first saw La Haine in a media class in college about 15 plus years ago. It blew our minds and spoke to us as the little street urchins we were back then- skating, smoking weed, fighting, drinking, partying....ahhh those were the days. But the film also led to us having a more political awareness too; we studied the film and read all we could about it and discussed it in smokey cars late into the night listening to Trans Am and Fu Shnickens. How prophetic of the film, how sad, how fucking shitty it is that now my much loved France is in the grips of a shitty far right movement- how happy I am to be
able to include "fuck le pen" in the poster. Ive watched this film annually since then and it never gets old, never lets me sit back in my seat, never relents or becomes uninspiring. Its a war cry to love, youth and solidarity- dont let the fuckers that seek power tell us otherwise. As a piece of art it also gave me two good rules by which I measure all other films: does it talk about film and does it talk about life: all good films have that in some capacity. I love you France- fuck le pen."
The print will go on sale February 25th at 1pm EST on the FAMP Art website. It measures 18”x24”, will have a run of 50 prints and will cost $45. This print ships worldwide.

Based in New York, FAMP Art is a company that specializes in creating officially licensed, limited edition screen printed posters of foreign films, pre-1980s classics and a few random goodies here and there of things we simply love.

A business years in the making, FAMP Art was founded to bridge the gap between pop culture art and art-house cinema, focusing on films that don’t get much love in the art world but are praised in the world of cinema (and that we ourselves are passionate about). Our goal is to fuse two different worlds through the glory of awesome and beautiful art prints.
