David Welker Crossing Dragon SAMO Print Release & More
David Welker took some much needed time off and now is beginning to shift back into high gear again. He'll be focusing on painting in the coming year but will always be drawing as well. The big news is that he'll be moving his private showroom from Centre street in Manhattan to a public street level gallery space in Brooklyn hosted by his great friends at Bottleneck Gallery. It will be open to the public with daily hours and there will be a grand opening in May with new originals, and both new and never before released prints from some key pieces of the past few years.
The final print release of 2018 will be his first ever timed edition. David recently finished a drawing titled "The Crossing Dragon" that was in the works since 2015 and slowly pushed forward to completion in late November 2018. He is thrilled with the print quality of this piece. It needs to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. It will be hand deckled, embossed and signed and numbered based on a 24 hour timed release. He will include one piece of original art in a random tube and he will hand remark a few prints from the edition as well.

In addition to the timed print he'll also be releasing a limited edition print of one of his favorite images from my 2015 Hoerle-Guggenheim show. The piece is called "SAMO" and is David's tribute to the early days of Jean-Michel Basquiat's poetic tagging of the streets of Soho. Hand deckled, signed, numbered and embossed in an edition of 100 prints.

He also wants to offer a mini print from a recent mini drawing. The piece is titled "The Witch's Flower Tea". It's a still life. The original drawing will be in Rome, Italy on December 8th with Dorothy Circus Gallery curated by the one and only Travis Louie. The print is hand deckled, signed and numbered in an edition of 40 pieces.
All orders will also receive a special screen printed, die cut screen printed sticker called "Matryoshka Kitty".
All prints will go on sale on Wednesday, December 5th at 12PM ET at https://welker-studios.myshopify.com/.
