Tomer Hanuka and Laurent Durieux The Tree of Life and Days of Heaven Posters From Mondo

On Thursday Mondo will have two posters as part of their Terrence Malick series - The Tree of Life and Days of Heaven - by two of their favorite artists, Tomer Hanuka and Laurent Durieux. This is Tomer’s third Malick poster, after Badlands and The Thin Red Line, and we’ve been utterly blown away by his approach to these uniquely complex and layered films. This new poster is no different.

Here is what Tomer had to say about the artwork:
“There’s a short and beautiful sequence in the film where the three brothers are shot underwater; their heads above water, so we only see these dancing tangled bodies. It felt like a concise metaphor for the idea of teen-hood, floating in an abyss before emerging fully formed— which ties with the more abstract parts of the film depicting evolution of microscopic organisms. From cell to fish then to the land and air.”

Additionally, they’ll have a gorgeous new poster for Days of Heaven by Laurent Durieux. As soon as we began planning the Malick series, one of the first thoughts they had was: “Laurent. Days of Heaven.” They knew that he could capture both the beautiful rural Texas imagery present in the film while also touching upon the themes and relationships at play among the characters… and they could not be happier with the final result.
