OPENINGS COVERED: Red Bull House of Detroit August 2012 Show

The Red Bull House of Art in Detroit had their second opening Friday night and the Inside the Rock Poster Frame Street Team was their to cover it.

Eight artists from the Metro Detroit area were chosen by the curator Matt Eaton. It was a strong lineup with a nice variety of talent on display.

Allison Vince / make-up
Bryan Baker / print making
Corey Birdwell / non-traditional photography with mix medium
James Collins / oil and acrylic on linen
DelVona Johnson / acrylic on wood
Kobie Solomon / mixed media
Michelle Tanguay / oil on canvas
Ray Domzalski / acrylic on wood panel

James Collins had the most mind bending art with some crazy optical illusions in many of his pieces. He also had a great concept with his large piece that is all white by appearances. It's layers of silver and white house paint with the last layer of white they wrapped it with plastic wrap to create the texture. But at the same time the white paint will flake off over time exposing the silver underneath to create an always evolving piece of art.

Ray Domzalski had some great work on wood panel.

Michelle Tanguay's bright colors lit up the room even as the last days of summer are upon us.

Gallery Hours are every Saturday from 10am-3pm.
