David Welker WELKOWEEN Online Print Showcase Release

No comments:

David Welker is releasing 12 new prints today.

I'm very happy to present my first ever Halloween Show. I love October so much. Every year I steep myself in Halloween lore both old and new. Something about the transition from the crisp remnants of a Summer past and the foreboding of Winter, evokes deep emotions in our souls. I tried to put together a mix of imagery to reflect the complexity of these feelings. I hope you enjoy the selections. Thank you so much for your continued support of my work.-DW

Willie Nelson Houston Print By Bailey Race Release

No comments:

Collectionzz is really enjoying working with Willie Nelson, and they have a new official print for him just in time for Halloween! Back in 1975, Willie played at his Halloween Ball in Houston, at a drive in movie theatre. Tickets were $5.00, you'd pull your car up, take out your lawn chair and cooler, and listen to Willie and his band play Red Headed Stranger. What sounds better than that? Bailey Race created not only a concert poster for this event, but illustrated a scene about the event,

I wanted to create a piece that touched on what it would be like to visit a record shop in 1975, while also preparing to go to the Willie Nelson & Co. Halloween Ball. To do so, I really started to get in deep on how I would make it feel like a small record shop, like it was 1975, and like it was a moment of calm before the famous Red Headed Stranger release show. While doing so I was able to really slow myself down and strip back a lot of what I knew about illustration and even the 70's (Being 23, I had to do a whole lot of research about a time that pre-dates me even existing), and really dive deep into creating a world that felt both bustling and intimate, while also evoking nostalgia from folks who remember the time's rummaging through the stacks at their local shop.

In approaching the concert and composition of the piece, I really wanted to take almost an "Anti-Gig-Poster" approach- In which I mean to illustrate a collectible piece of Willie merchandise, while allowing it to also function as a gig-poster for the Hollows Eve 1975 show. To do so, I focused more on the feel and environment of the scene, while putting the show information in as Easter egg-esque bits throughout the illustration (Such as the Calendar, the hand written ad, and the commercial on the TV)- as well as packing in some other timely references and references to Willie and his eclectic catalogue up to that date.-BR

Black Crowes Poster By Paul Kreizenbeck Release

No comments:

Collectionzz is on a roll with releasing impressive art over the past 8 months, and it continues tomorrow when they introduce The Black Crowes to their growing lineup of officially licensed prints. The Black Crowes are one of the greatest American rock and roll bands in history, and released their 5x platinum debut album Shake Your Money Maker in 1990 when Rich Robinson was only 21 years old, and Chris Robinson was only 24. Despite their youthfulness, they performed with old soul as though they had been doing it for 50 years. So with that in mind, when creating their first print for the Crowes, Collectionzz wanted to illustrate that balance of youthful energy and old soul, and of course utilize that iconic Crowes logo:

The two-headed crow is meant to symbolize the two Robinson brothers, who have been the only constant members of the band since it's formation in 1984. I spent some time researching the band's art through its history and it has always struck a balance between hippy psychedelia and an aesthetic more serious and sincere. I think the band's music often walks that line as well, and I've tried to capture that feeling in this print. The Black Crowes have had many artists I admire contribute to its visual archive and I'm honored to be among them! - Paul Kreizenbeck

Alan Campbell Solitaire 10 Year Anniversary Print Release

No comments:

On February 21th 2010 Alan Campbell released his first print, it was a linocut inspired by a trip to Vienna he had taken the month before, it was a stylized drawing of a man with a beard, printed in pink ink.

This year being Alan's 10 years of printmaking anniversary year he had planned a bunch of projects but obviously life got in the way,

These are also the first prints he has pulled since February in his local print studio, the Glasgow print studio was closed because of covid restrictions.

"Solitaire" started life for as a design for a company in America, i started to realize the direction i was taking didn't make sense for that project so i explained that and they were cool to let me try something else, but i still really liked this drawing, so i wanted to finish it, so i leaned heavy into my Wiener Werkstätte influences, which is a arts and crafts movement that was founded in vienna 1903- 1932, that i really love.- AC

So Solitaire became almost a sequel to his first print release, so it became his 10 year anniversary release it comes in four version in tiny editions.

The Doors Morrison Hotel Print by Richey Beckett Release

No comments:

Collectionzz is thrilled to finally present their first limited edition print for The Doors, commemorating the album Morrison Hotel on its 50th Anniversary designed by Richey Beckett !

This album was dangerously close to not being made. In late 1969, it appeared that The Doors were destined for a breakup. At the behest of their record label to "work out their demons" by recording a new album, the band re-entered the studio with their long time producer Paul Rothchild. The result was The Doors' iconic fifth album, released in February 1970. Morrison Hotel received critical and commercial success with radio hits such as Roadhouse Blues and Peace Frog.

Creem magazine called the album "the most horrifying rock and roll I have ever heard. When they're good, they're simply unbeatable. I know this is the best record I've listened to ... so far", while Rock Magazine called it "without any doubt their ballsiest (and best) album to date." Circus praised it as "possibly the best album yet from the Doors" and "good, hard, evil rock ... and one of the best albums released this decade"

Collectionzz enlisted Richey Beckett to create a print that authentically captures The Doors in late 1969:

"Illustrating The Doors 50th Anniversary of Morrison Hotel poster was a huge honour. Henry Diltz’s iconic portrait of the band, shot from across the street as they struck a pose in the lobby window, has become one of the most beloved record covers of all time for one of the band’s most celebrated LPs. My intention in the illustration was to bring the viewer closer, right up to the window, face to face with Morrison, Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore as mysterious shapes and patterns emerge from their backlit figures—a glimpse into the legendary Hotel and the mystical narrative created around it." - Richey Beckett

Crosshair Amanda Blast Furnace Art Print

No comments:

The Amanda Blast Furnace stands at AK Steel’s Ashland Works in Ashland, KY, formerly Armco. Upon its construction in 1963 it was described as "largest blast furnace in the free world". It was the last furnace to operate at that the Ashland Works. It was idled in 2019 and permanently ceased operation in 2020 with the closure of the facility.

Dan MacAdam of Cross originally shot this subject for a Black Keys poster in 2012, when it was still running. This version eliminates the changes he made to create a gig poster and restores its true appearance. People have been asking about an art print version of this long sold-out poster for years so if you're one of them, here it is.

Amanda Blast Furnace is an 8-color silkscreen fine art print, 17.5 x 23”, produced in a signed & numbered edition of 62.

He also has a new Wilco poster available for one of the few pre-covid concerts earlier this year.

Darin Shock 311 Halloween Posters

No comments:

Darin Shock had the honor of designing the official 311 Halloween poster for 2020. His edition (regulars and foils) are available for purchase right now until 11:59 pm EDT Tuesday night. Please note that this is a PRE-SALE and all posters will take approximately 5 weeks to be printed and shipped. There might be a few available down the road, but purchasing right now during the pre-sale is the only way to guarantee you'll be able to grab one. There's a regular edition, plus a Swirl foil, Rainbow foils (two versions), and a limited number of Donuts foils. Posters are 12x36", 5 color screen prints and come signed & numbered.

The classic Ben Cooper plastic mask and costume was a huge part of the Halloweens of my childhood. It's probably fair to say that 2 out of 3 kids wore one each year. My personal favorite was when I dressed up as Scooby Doo in 1983. Anyway, I've always been attracted to these masks, as well as the packaging. I've actually had this concept tucked away in my sketchbook since 2009 and have just never found the right fit for it. When I got the nod from mgmt to do this poster, I figured this was my chance! Anyway, hope you dig it. -DS

N.C. Winters I Dissent Art Print and Fundraiser

No comments:

N.C. Winters has released a great new print, dont worry you can get one.

Details from the man himself-

Things are pretty intense right now.

There’s just too much going on in every direction, and like many of you, I’m wishing there was more I could do. The passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg spurred me into action and I’ve decided to try and do something about how I feel. So I’ve made a new art print, and am donating half of the proceeds to the ACLU to raise money for those who combat the widespread injustice going on in the country right now. In their words:

“The ACLU dares to create a more perfect union —
beyond one person, party, or side.
Our mission is to realize this promise
of the United States Constitution for all
and expand the reach of its guarantees.“

If you wish to support this cause, please consider buying a print. Or maybe you don’t really have an opinion on this matter and want a print to celebrate the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, this is for you as well. There’s a chance you don’t care about any of this and are just collecting my art, and looking to add the next piece in your collection. That's fine also.

The prints are 18″ x 12″ three color screenprints, printed by Lady Lazarus in Houston. They’re available in two versions: the regular print as is for $40, and a hand embellished version for $150. Against better judgement, I’m putting NO limits on the prints, even the hand embellished versions(!). So if you want to buy several, I encourage you to do so, even though my future painting hand may regret that decision. Right now my goal is to raise as much money to donate as possible.

The prints are available right now, and will be until next Friday, October 9. The total number of prints sold within the window will determine the final edition size. Please understand that the final number of prints sold, both regular and especially hand embellished will determine the final shipping time. My estimate for now is 3-5 weeks from today, but of course, that may change depending on the amount sold. I appreciate your patience in advance!

Thank you for your support as always, and specifically for this print. This is something I feel strongly about and thank each and every one of you who joins me in this endeavor.

“I Dissent” timed edition screenprint
Print size: 18″ x 12″
Final edition size determined by how many prints sold within the sale period: October 1–9.
Three-color screenprint on Madero Beach speckletone 100# cover stock.
Each print is hand signed & numbered.
$40 each for regular print.
$150 for hand-embellished version.
50% of profits from sales will be donated to the ACLU.

The prints are available right now in his online shop!

Zeb Love Heaven Hill & Hi-Fi Art Prints

No comments:

Hope you're enjoying the first few days of Autumn. Zeb Love spent them in the print shop making these posters. With all the gigposter work on pause for the foreseeable future...it certainly has made his work slow down to a trickle. But he has been staying busy, being able to make these art prints really helps keep the lights on. He is also been enjoying using oil paints.

Heaven Hill
18x24" - 5 Color Silkscreen - 2nd Edition of 82 - Signed/Numbered

"Original artwork I made for an Avett Brothers Bend Oregon show in 2019. I created an identical art print of that poster for an art show in CA, but only a small edition of I think 18? This is a little different, I flipped the canvas so the banjo player is now a right handed player. The colors are also slightly different."-Z

Hi-Fi
18x24” - 4 Color Silkscreen with metallic gold - 3rd edition of 83

"With this edition a split fountain of two blues were added for the sky/border. Also the artwork on the record sleeve was changed to the snake/apple emblem. That emblem was also used in Serigraphy Volume 3 as well as some of the last batches of notebooks made."-Z
