Darin Shock Shaun of the Dead Sculpture for The Official Edgar Wright Art Show

Look it's almost the same size as Simon Pegg in real life
Tonight at Gallery1988 (West) they open "The OFFICIAL Edgar Wright Art Show!" Join Gallery1988 tonight Tuesday, August 20th from 7-10pm for the opening reception of "The Official Edgar Wright Art Show." The show features an amazing lineup of artists, who have all created pieces inspired by their favorite Edgar Wright films.

One of those pieces is by Darin Shock and it's pretty amazing.  Given the opportunity to participate in Gallery 1988's tribute to writer/director Edgar Wright, Darin decided to create something inspired by Shaun of the Dead. Wright is responsible for Shaun as well as Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the about-to-open The World's End, etc. Being a big fan of Wright's style Darin wanted to participate and despite being the easy rout, he chose to focus on Shaun of the Dead. Darin also wanted to take the opportunity to experiment with scale as well as steer away (a little) from the sort of 2D/3D relief work he has been doing recently. Shaun stands in at just over 3 feet tall and is 15 inches wide. He consists primarily of wood, foam and acrylics.

If you can't make it to the opening reception, the artwork will go online Wednesday, August 21st at www.gallery1988.com  The show will run through September 7th.
