Beautiful Monstrosities Show featuring Audrey Pongracz and April Segedi covered

Last night in Royal Oak, Michigan at 323 East Gallery they had the opening of Beautiful Monstrosities and the ITRPF Street Team was on hand. Besides being equally talented (and equally beautiful), artists Audrey Pongracz and April Segedi both share a passion for certain thematic motifs that appear frequently in their respective works - the dark underside of images drawn from fantasy and from the Victorian idealization of the female. It is a powerful and ambiguous theme to be sure - a dreamscape with poison, threatening shadows, stifled passion, imperiled innocence, and a hushed mood of desperation. In "Beautiful Monstrosities" the painter and the sculptor will unveil faces that seem comforting and familiar at first to the viewer ... but look closely at each piece and you will discern that masks are slowly vanishing.

Exhibition runs from July 9th through August 10th
