Well opening day at the Zero Friends store in New York City with Alex Pardee was a huge success. The place was packed for hours with people buying everything they could. People were buying instant Pardee collections 8 9 10 different prints at a time.

No comments:

From Jay:

hello people! it's time for something different. as you know, i've been traveling a lot recently, and i wanted to share some of what i've learned about such strange and foreign places as belgium and southwestern england. i've been working on a whole pile of paintings which accurately depict some of the remarkable customs and interesting inhabitants of these alien lands.

the show opens friday january 29th, from 7 to 10pm. the show will remain hung until february 14th, 2010. rotofugi is located at 1955 west chicago avenue, just east of damen, in chicago. the phone number there is 866-953-9229. awesome hot coffee will be generously provided by metropolis coffee roasters.

please click this link to subscribe to rotofugi's special secret preview mailing list, which will allow you to see (and buy) the work from the show before the opening.

fwiw, i am planning to go to the barber to get my hair cut for only the third time in 20 years, literally. i know you'd never guess, but i'm a do-it-yourselfer.

Burlesque of North America ARCADE FIRE HAITI BENEFIT

No comments:

From BoNA:

Some of you may know about Arcade Fire's long relationship with the country of Haiti. The group's co-founder Régine Chassagne's family emigrated from Haiti before she was born in Canada and her Haitian heritage shines through in songs such as "Haiti" and in the group's ongoing efforts to support non-profit organizations working in Haiti.

We dug through our archives and were able to dig up some extra copies from the original run of Arcade Fire Spring 2007. We will be selling twenty (20) complete sets of the four posters this Thursday at 2pm. All proceeds will be donated to Partners in Health, Arcade Fire's preferred charity organization.

The prints will be sold in complete sets of four.
We are unable to offer matching numbers.

$120 + $10 shipping US / $20 international

If you would like to make a direct donation to Partners in Health, you can do that right here.

Malleus OM poster

No comments:

From Malleus:

Once You restart in printing You cannot stop anymore.
This is the law of the screenprinter. Even more if the screenprinter is a poster artist.
So, in a few days we’ve another poster printed, and we’ve done it all today, 4 colours in one single day.
That’s why we feel a little tired right now.
Anyway, it’s the poster for the mighty OM and their gig in Milano, tomorrow, at Circolo Magnolia.
We’re looking forward to meet Al Cisneros, we’re in contact since years, we met him the first time in Tilburg, at Roadburn festival in 2007. I remember it’s been great to meet him.
Sleep is one of our favourite bands of all times.
When we heard Sleep’s Holy Mountain for the first time (damn, it was 1992, we were all Young!) it was a blast.
Then we looked for “Volume One” and it was incredible.
So, at that time, we could not even think that one day we’d be in touch with our “musical heroes”.
And meeting Al was really great, super nice guy.
So, during these years we did another poster for Om and the Sleep’s reunion print for the gig in London.
Very very cool, we’re very proud of the Sleep poster.
So, tomorrow, we’ll see OM in Milano.

In the final poster there’s also Lichens, the band supporting and it’s at the bottom of the frame.
It’s a 4 colours poster, printed on a light tobacco paper (a really beautiful paper, a new one we’ve never used before).
We’ve printed a first shade with a glittered white going into very light cream.
Then a metallic silver cyan and a gold.
Finally a metallic brown.
It’s come out cool, very cool.
The run will be about 150/160.
We’ll number them tomorrow and the posters will be on sale on our store after the show (so on the 28th of January).

They’ve also printed a really short run on brown kraft glittered paper with only the black ink.
I’ll post some pics soon.

The newest work by Shepard Fairey.
Edition of 300 each colorway, $45, Released on 1/28/10 at Random, Limit 1 each

This is just horrible on so many levels. Using the Clash's Know Your Rights on the image of some androgynous figure is blasphemy. At least the edition size has dropped.

Nice feet too.

Edwardian Ball at The Regency poster by Chuck Sperry

No comments:

From Chuck:

Here’s my poster for the Edwardian Ball which will be celebrated at the Regency Ballroom on January 22 & 23, 2010.
I went for a retro Edwardian era style (1900-1910) with an influence from Gustav Klimt. Since I’m using a lot of metallic inks, I resonate with Klimt’s use of “bling” in his art.
Here’s some pictures of the actual print. You can see the paper is textured like watercolor paper.

From the Edwardian Ball site:
“The award-winning Edwardian Ball transforms the historic Regency Ballroom into a garden of delights, Friday and Saturday January 22nd and 23rd, 2010. Join a magical outdoors-indoor symphony of music, theatre, dance, art, storytelling, circus arts, fashion, technology, and, of course, the art & stories of Edward Gorey.”
