Matt Gordon Mountain High Art Print on sale
Years (indeed, centuries) before scientists toyed with the notion of an alternate universe or two, there were painters like Matt Gordon who happily envisioned the flora, fauna, and (for want of a better word) that would be found in such new and colorful territories. This work is a perfect example. We have three creatures that fall nicely within the complementing categories of crypto-zoology and psychological archetypes - and with a nice dash of pop-culture referencing thrown in for free.
Some DNA has obviously been thrown into the blender - and thanks, but we'll leave the... species-scramble decipherment to someone else! Is it an advance party of aliens in our neighborhood or a hunting trip on some faraway planet? Who/what is that guy bearing arms and wearing a somewhat worn homage to Hanna-Barbera? Like many artists working in this genre, Gordon is benignly playing with the stuff of matter here and creating lush landscapes enhanced by fresh mythologies. Yabba-Dabba-Doo!
All prints are Signed & Numbered by the Artist and come with a Certificate of Authenticity from 1xRUN.

Around this time last year, Burlesque of North America closed up their First Amendment gallery with an exhibit and print release from Minneapolis artist Greg Gossel. They love Greg's brightly-colored collages made from repurposed snippets of pop culture. It turns out you guys love his work as well since his last two prints, "Crash Landing" and "Midnight" both sold out fairly quickly. Here are two brand new art prints designed by Greg and screenprinted by Ben LaFond, available exclusively through Burlesque!

Brian Ewing Black Angels poster on sale now
Brian Ewings first gig poster of 2011 is on sale now.
This is for the Black Angels. Super rad band if you're into the stoner, psych, shoe gazer rock type stuff. Brian mixed his love for Art Nouveau, 60's Rock Posters and Pin-Up to design this poster.
When the light hits it the underprinting shows through the black and adds a really cool texture to an otherwise flat background.

Tweak a Standard Frame for Easy Art Swapping
I found this on Lifehacker. Great site with great info on everything.
Framing your own art and hanging it on the wall isn't difficult, but if you want to swap out the artwork in the frame for a new look, it can be a bit of a pain. Here's how you can modify a standard frame to let you switch out the contents as often as you like without taking it down.
Lilla wrote in to Ikea Hacker that she wanted a way to easily switch out the contents of a frame she used to display her children's artwork without taking it down, taking it apart, and putting it back together when she was finished.
It was pretty easy: she removed the metal clips, glued the acrylic face of the frame to the inside, and glued three thin square bars to three of the sides to give the frame some depth. Since she only added the bars to three of the sides, the fourth side was left open for easy access. She cut a new backing for the now-deeper frame from cardboard, and attached it to the bars.
She used an Ikea Nyttja frame, but you can apply the hack to almost any frame. Plus, the whole project only takes a few minutes once you have everything you need. Do you change the art on your walls often enough to make a hack like this worthwhile? Let us know in the comments.

June 3rd through July 30th

Details from Derek:
This body of work is inspired by the classic Playboy covers from the 1960's and 1970's. being in elementary school during that time, the Playboy magazine was my introduction to the female body, the July 1970 issue to be specific. since then figure drawing has become a passion of mine and is the focal point of all my work. These pieces are a combination of formative year impressions and fundamentally strong drawings. I chose the grease pencils to work with because quite frankly nothing else would work, fortunately i like working with them. the Playboys themselves i purchased on Ebay. This is my second group of Playboy drawings, the first 40 were in a show in Hamburg Germany at the Feinkunst Kruge.
His new art print is titled Insurmountable. It is signed and numbered offset print, edition of 300. 25" x 12"

Frank Zio Cal Berkeley National Champions poster
Details from Frank :
So, some of you may know that in another life, by another name, I swam for Cal Berkeley. I had some great teammates and we were always very competitive, but we were never able to attain that elusive goal: The National Championship. Well, this year, and for the first time since 1980, the Cal Men's Swim Team won a national title! I flew out to Minneapolis and had the privilege of being there among over 60 Cal Swimming alumni to watch our boys do what had not been done in over 30 years! Not only that, but I had watched our women do the same thing one week prior, giving us an unparalleled dual-team victory!
Naturally, I wanted to celebrate this momentous occasion in the only way I knew how, by making a rock poster! So here it is, to any Cal fans or collectors of the disordinary. The Cal Swimming Victory Print, complete with the names of all the swimmers and coaches who were part of both of these historic teams.
The print itself is a almost totally metallic foil 5 color silkscreen. It was printed with all the care and dedication that a project of this personal importance deserves. Give yourself a little piece of Victory for $35, shipping included.
