Vice Press and Grey Matter Art to Release Limited Edition Posters by Matt Ferguson for John Carpenter’s THE FOG, THEY LIVE, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and PRINCE OF DARKNESS In Classic Cinema Quad Sizing!

Last year Matt Ferguson and Vice Press had the honor of working with STUDIOCANAL on the release of their brand new 4k restorations of four of John Carpenter’s most iconic titles: THE FOG, THEY LIVE, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and PRINCE OF DARKNESS. All four brand new 4k restorations were done using the original camera negatives, with the color grading approved for the new restorations and UHD versions by the films' Cinematographers: Gary B Kibbe and Dean Cundey.

As part of the release, each film was screened in cinemas across the U.K and featured brand new theatrical posters designed and illustrated by British artist and John Carpenter fan Matt Ferguson.

From the 10th of January, for one week only, GMA and VP will be giving collectors the opportunity to purchase these posters in their classic cinema quad sizes, a huge 40x30 inches. Each poster will retail for £50/ $60 or all four can be purchased as a set for the discounted cost of £150/ $190. Each print will be signed and numbered by the artist and the total size of the edition will be based on the number of posters ordered during this period. Each poster is a 30"x40' (inch) fine art print, printed on 250gsm Vitesse Silk Paper.

THE FOG, THEY LIVE, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and PRINCE OF DARKNESS will be released via Vice Press (www.Vice-Press.com) at 5pm U.K time and Grey Matter Art (www.GreyMatterArt.com) at 12pm EST on the 10th of January and available until the same time on the 17th of January. Edition size will be dictated by number of prints purchased during this period.

“Last year I had the distinct pleasure of being hired by StudioCanal to work on the 4K John Carpenter classics. I conceptualized and made all of the key art for the films. It was a dream job for me and I am really happy the art came out pretty much exactly as I intended. My ideal versions of the art are the UK quad size, it's the way the art was intended to be viewed and also my personal favorite dimensions for movie posters, so I am really happy that we are getting to make these available to people." – Matt Ferguson

Casey Weldon x PangeaSeed Art Print Release

No comments:

PangeaSeed is pleased to announce their first print release of 2019 for their latest print project, "In Peril". Featuring original artwork by supporting ARTivist Casey Weldon (USA), this limited art print edition highlights the iconic endangered great white shark.

Artist: Casey Weldon
Title: "Rainbow Bite"
Dimensions: 16” x 24” inches with a half inch border
Edition size: time release limited edition giclée print signed & numbered by the artist
Paper: Italian cold-press watercolor paper
Pricing: $80 plus shipping
Printed by Paragon Press

Available: Tuesday, January 8 - Monday, January 14, 2019 at 12pm PST via shop.pangeaseed.co

Artist statement:
"Since I was a child, I have been taught to fear the shark. Thru media sensationalism and Hollywood exploitative cinema, sharks have always been portrayed to me as anthropomorphically mean and soulless creatures that want nothing other than to chomp me to bits and gobble up my remains if I dare tap a toe in that ocean.

The older, uglier, and more physically frightening I become in my later years, I have learned that even the scary creatures out there are just looking for a good time and doing what they do naturally. In reality, less than 10 people die annually due to shark related incidences. Vending machines and falling coconuts kill more people than sharks annually. In the end, we all just wanna eat till our bellies are full, and maybe just party a little bit when the sun goes down."

Help Ron Zakrin’s Recovery From Spinal Injury

No comments:

On November 17th, Ron Zarkin fell about 15 foot onto his back. Ron suffered a severe spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Ron is currently at a spine rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI.

Details from 1xRUN:

We have always looked to artist Ron Zakrin for inspiration, and that’s what makes this situation so difficult and one that we felt we needed to share with all of our collectors. Last November, Ron Zakrin fell from the second floor of his studio and shattered a vertebrae. I went to the hospital to visit Ron after his surgery and he was in really high spirits and was starting to gain movement back in his feet. He’s back home with his brother now, and they need some help with building a ramp and updating the bathroom to help make Ron’s recovery as pleasant as possible.

Detroit’s art community has seen Ron’s work for years with his innovative exhibitions, electronic music releases, as well as his performances under the moniker Goudron. Back in 2009 we hosted our first exhibition with Ron Zakrin at our first gallery 323East, he was one of the first artists we featured on 1xRUN, and we have worked together on tons of projects and have been inspired by Ron’s personality and the storylines he weaves across his creative outlets. Ron’s prints and originals have been collected by hundreds of 1xRUN collectors around the world, and we know you feel his inspiration, and love the unique mix of storylines found throughout his art. So we wanted to reach out and let you know that someone in the 1xRUN Family is in need.

Ron’s family has created this GoFundMe campaign to help with his recovery, and we wanted to share it with all of you. We would hope someone would do the same for us if we were facing the same adversities.

Head over to his GoFundMe Page HERE.
