Justin Hampton Mark Lanegan The Days of Pandemia Prints and Posters

No comments:

Details from Justin Hampton and Mark Lanegan on their new collaboration.

As a reflection of this moment we’re all living in, Mark and I present to you these newly realized editions of my artwork originally designed for the Mark Lanegan Band 2012 Blues Funeral tour. ‘The Days of Pandemia'...

This is a surreal time in our collective history and a very unnerving moment in all of our lives. The image is a representation of something that seemed like it could never happen to us, something that modern scientific advances had left in the dusty pages of the historical record. Although that was a different condition in a different time, the image of the Plague Doctor has resonated with a lot of people in these unsure times. How do we stay safe? How do we deal with this? Should we be scared? Will this pass? Will science ultimately defeat this? There is so much uncertainty right now, including so many people losing their ways of life. Most people are sheltering at home with ‘social distancing’.

Along with so many people Mark and I have lost our way to make an income, with his touring, and myself making poster art for bands concerts. What was to be Mark’s upcoming European tour was cancelled. All of my already produced posters for what was to be upcoming gigs have also been cancelled. We’re thinking outside of the box here in offering this print without a concert to go with it. I’ve always wanted to make an art print of this image and flesh it out more with added detail and colors. Although the image is a dark tone I think of it as an acknowledgement of what’s happening with a sense of hope in the sunset and faith that after the darkness there will be another day. Humanity will survive, we’ll be better prepared and hopefully come out of this kinder and more appreciative of the amazing world that we all share.

The regular cream edition is 20x26 inch limited timed edition serigraph is signed by both Mark Lanegan & Justin Hampton. The edition size will be dependent on the quantity sold between April 10th - 20th. Printed on heavy French Cream stock, hand numbered, and embossed. Each purchase of this edition will include a certificate of authenticity and frameable lyric sheet of 'The Gravedigger's Song by: Mark Lanegan.
Red Edition is limited to 30 with everything else being the same.
White Edition is limited to 60 with everything else being the same.
Black Edition is limited to 30 with everything else being the same.

There will also be mini prints of these as well measuring 8 x 10 inches.

Justin Hampton Underneath the Bridge Kurt Cobain Keyline Print Release

No comments:

In celebration of the legacy of Kurt Cobain, Neon Eye and Justin Hampton present...

'Underneath the Bridge' The keyline edition print

Originally commissioned by the Experience Music Project (or EMP- now named MoPop) in Seattle for their 2011 exhibit called 'Nirvana, Taking Punk to the Masses'. This print is Justin's personal interpretation of the song 'Something in the Way' from the ground breaking album 'Nevermind'.

Justin talks about the print:
I love the way the original 8 color version of the art print turned out but there's something truly special in just seeing the bare art unobstructed by any additional colors. There's a lot going on in this particular piece and it's nice to see it as it was originally hand illustrated in pen, ink and brush.

Approximate print size: 18 x 24 inches
Single layer serigraph on Cranes archival cotton rag w/ hand torn deckled edges.

Each copy comes with a small, hand rendered one of a kind remarque(sketch) in pencil at the bottom of the print with a theme from the lyrics.

Signed, numbered & embossed limited edition of only 50 copies.

On sale now in the Neon Eye Store !

PNE 27 Club Mini Prints

No comments:

In 2009, the artist collective known as POST NEO EXPLOSIONISM (Jermaine Rogers, Emek, & Justin Hampton) released a striking collaborative silk-screened art print: 'The 27 Club'. The image has become a defining tribute to the pantheon of rock-and-roll's legends who fell victim to their 27th year. Musicians featured in this classic image include Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, and Robert Johnson.

Now, a decade later, PNE has released the '27 Club' Decade Edition introducing two additional members: Amy Winehouse + Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan. The full sized Decade Edition prints instantly sold out over at Collectionzz, and they are now pleased to offer the mini-print versions at Neon Eye. This where the 27 Club posters and mini's were printed and where the prints are currently housed, meaning these will ship immediately.

Justin Hampton Changes David Bowie Art Print

No comments:

Justin Hampton created this print from a series of pencil renderings illustrating the metamorphosis of David Bowie's career from 1967 to 1997. 30 years of hits and numerous persona changes secured Bowie's place in modern music history as one of the industry's greatest icons. Of course he went on to do much more until his passing in 2016 but this print captures what Justin thought would consider his 'classic years'. Plus, those 20 more years would make for a really long print, almost twice as long!

Archival Fine Art Print on Cotton Rag measuring 18″ x 24″

Justin Hampton Bound Justice Art Print Release

No comments:

Presenting the art print version of Justin Hampton's 2017 Metallica poster. Lady Justice is an allegorical personification of the moral force in judicial systems. Her blindfold represents impartiality, the ideal that justice should be applied without regard to wealth, power, or other status. Often referred to as 'Blind Justice' Justin opted to alter her in this piece to 'Bound Justice' with her bound and gagged on the steps of the Supreme Court as a metaphor for the mistreatment of Lady Justice. The definition of injustice is: the absence of justice: violation of right or of the rights of another. This was never intended to be a kinky or sexual image in any way but a jarring visual statement representing crimes going unpunished, injustices inflicted upon marginalized people and laws not being upheld to the full extent or even enacted with malice by bending the interpretation of the law. Justin  finds this to be particularly relevant at this point in time in American history, especially over the last two years with the ongoing investigation of the obstruction of justice by our President, Russian interference in our elections, shutdown of the government, ban of transgender in the military, the rise of hate crimes and general decay of national moral compass.

Justin is donating a portion of the proceeds of this print to the American Civil Liberties Union(ACLU). Civil protections are needed now more than ever.

This image has been re-scanned from the the original painting at a much higher resolution and newly color corrected. You can see the actual texture of the canvas and paint itself. This is a much higher quality and vibrant reproduction of the image than the band poster.

Justin also has an art print of a wine label that he was commissioned to create for Vine St Imports in New Jersey. Vine St highlights a different vineyard from around the world every year with their brand ‘Lost Highway Project’. He designed a previous label for them with the same wine maker from Australia in 2004 giving us a visual story telling of a woman making her way on the ‘Lost Highway’. Since they were getting the ‘band back together’ Justin thought it would be fun to show a glimpse of they beloved girl further down the highway on her new adventures. Justin poured a ton of work into this piece and is very pleased with the result.
