Foo Fighters Cuyahoga Falls Print By Darin Shock Release

1 comment:

Darin Shock has a new poster and it's another first for him. He designed the Foo Fighters poster for the show in Cuyahoga Falls. It will be going on sale Friday 7-27-18 at 1pm EDT. There will be a regular edition, a lava foil and a rainbow foil. All will be available at www.stateofshockstudios.com

Darin talks about the his idea for the design:
While coming up with a concept, I was listening to and thinking about a few Foo Fighters songs...particularly "Learn to Fly" and "The Sky is a Neighborhood". I was thinking on themes of flight and space exploration and silliness (similar to many of their videos). The poster depicts a paper airplane launch being taken in by a fascinated girl in the foreground. I decided to use my daughter, Zella, for reference and was later convinced that was meant to be when I learned that Dave Grohl put his own daughters in "The Sky is a Neighborhood" video. I also thought it would be interesting to depict the band performing on the top of a shuttle launch station...a la the Beatles on the Apple building in 1969.

Rich Kelly Dave Matthews Band Charlotte Poster Release

No comments:

The year is 1799. In a creek near his family's North Carolina farm, a 12-year-old boy named Conrad Reed discovers a 17 lb gold nugget. Unaware of the rock's value, his father used it as a doorstop for years before selling it for a grand total of $3.50. This discovery was the first documented commercial gold find in the United States and would set the table for the much more famous California Gold Rush of 1849.

So anyway, therein lies the inspiration for this Dave Matthews Band poster that was created by Rich Kelly for their recent Charlotte show. The poster is a Four color screenprint that measures 18" x 24". Signed and numbered Artist Edition of 35.

He'll be putting a handful of these in the shop on Thursday, July 26 at 2pm Eastern at https://richkelly.bigcartel.com/

James Flames Dave Matthews Band Holmdel Poster Release

No comments:

James Flames newest poster for Dave Matthews Band (and his final one for their summer tour) will be available Tuesday.

This is his third poster for Dave and the boys this summer, and with each poster James tried to tell a short story, so that all three of them relate to each other in a really cool way. James is so proud of how this one came out, and so excited to share it with you guys.

James tells the story:
The title of this illustrations is "Finding Love in the Sun Grove Village", and here's the story within the poster:

There once was a village that was built into a series of hills – each hill was a layer resting upon the hill below it, stacks and stacks of hills. And along each hill layer were little homes, built right into the ground. The people who lived there would walk out of their doors and climb the layers of hills until they reached the top, where they tended to their crops and their flowers.

But these weren’t ordinary crops – the trees looked like lemon groves, but they weren’t lemons at all. They were little suns!!

Most of the suns never grew past the size of small fruits, and they were very useful at that size, providing light, energy and health to the village.

But, as the legend goes, when two people fall in love and pick one of the little suns, it grows and grows, until it lifts off into the sky to join the universe. And so here is a scene of two of the villagers who have just fallen madly in love, and are joined by this sun, creating a supernova in the sky above the village.
The poster is 18" x 24" and a Five Color Screen Print.
Artist's Proof Edition of 75, Signed & Numbered.

On sale Tuesday at 3pm EDT at www.jamesflames.com . James also has a new website that looks real nice.

Darin Shock 311 Summer Tour Poster Release

No comments:

Darin Shock did the 311 Summer Tour poster and they will be going on sale this Tuesday (7-24-18) at 2pm EDT. There will be a regular edition, a glow-in-the-dark variant, a rainbow, thatched and tinsel foil. For those that are interested, they'll be available at www.stateofshockstudios.com.

Darin talks about his concept for the poster:
I also thought I'd talk a little about this design. Since I was a little kid, my Dad had a vintage Seeway jukebox in his living room. I was always fascinated by it and played it incessantly. He introduced me to a lot of music via this jukebox. He would also change out the records to reflect the season (such as Halloween records around Halloween, Christmas records around Christmas, etc.) which I loved. Basically, I've held this jukebox in high regard for a long time.

I therefore thought it would be interesting to depict my son, Oakley, standing in front of the jukebox...just as I did as a kid. On one level it's sort of a passing of time concept, which I thought would be fitting given 311's longevity. I find it compelling that so many fans are now able to share their affection for their band with their children...as my Dad did with me. On another level the design is about feeling youthful, curious and passionate about music. All beautiful things that I relate to 311 and their fanbase.
Also wanted to note that the dates and cities of the Never Ending Summer Tour are listed in the spaces where song titles would normally be. In fact, there are a few song selections in there as well...all chosen by the band.

Alan Campbell Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep ? Art Print Release

No comments:

Alan Campbell is releasing a new print and here he provides some insight to his creative process.
Do Androids Dream of Electric sheep? is the starting point of the film we all love (Blade Runner), written by Phillip K Dick, published in 1968, the film is pretty faithful to the novel, with a few differences, the biggest of those to me was the use of Animals, in novel the full story is pushed along by Deckard wanting a proper animal, the ultimate status symbol after the nuclear war that has killed most of them, he riles through a catalogue from a pet store, phoning the pet store and keeping count of what he can afford if he kills all the replicants and gets the associated bounty's. I focused the main part of my print on this; the ostrich, being one of the desired animals, while the spider is related how the replicates treat animals near the end of the novel, without empathy.

Josh Keyes Float & Frontier 1 Art Prints Release

No comments:

1xRUN are excited to welcome in painter Josh Keyes as he joins them for two very special releases! First off they've got Keyes' iconic "Float" which drops on July 20th, to coincide with the Apollo 11 moon landing way back in 1969. With the drop of each interspatial release 1xRUN will drop extremely limited quantities of matching two print sets.

Edition Size: 250
SIZE 24 x 18 Inches
TYPE Archival Pigment Print on 290gsm Moab Fine Art Paper

This RUN comes signed, numbered and with a Certificate of Authenticity from Josh Keyes and 1xRUN.
"The conception of both paintings rattled inside my mind for a few months before the image gelled. I spent some time watching footage of NASA missions and looking up at the stars at night, just thinking what if, and maybe.
I was stuck in indecision for a long time whether or not to make these paintings. The setting in space was so foreign to my previous work. I worked on some other paintings, but the idea of deep infinite space kept creeping through my thoughts. I guess the turning point was just to dive in and see what would happen. I was aware of Jeremy Geddes beautiful astronaut paintings, and wanted to find my own voice for working with this subject matter.

I think they are successful in that I accomplished what I set out to express. I would enjoy revisiting this theme in the future. I think the imagery is interesting and wacky, and when I look at the print, it transports me someplace far, far away. I like art that leaves me slightly confused and with unanswered questions. If you need another reason, the paper and printing quality are top notch." - Josh Keyes

Timothy Pittides Killer Klowns From Outer Space Movie Poster Release

No comments:

This week Mad Duck Posters are releasing new licensed movie posters for the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns From Outer Space! The posters are 24x36 screen prints with incredible new art by Timothy Pittides!

The artist has a true passion for the horror/comedy 80s classic and had the following to say about the movie and project:
"When I was approached to do this, a TON of ideas and concepts flew out of me, but none really hit the mark. The original one sheet of this film is iconic and a play off that was where my mind went. I also knew this poster would have to pop and have COLOR! Since all my work is hand done, on paper, this task came down to creating each individual image ( the earth, the arm, planets, logo, etc) separately and breaking each color layer down manually as I went. The poster had a final total of 55 single layer scans and 13 colors overall making it the most colors I have ever worked with. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it!"
There will be 3 flavors.
Regular Edition, 24x36 screen print, 13 Colors, Numbered, printed with Metallic Silver, Run of 125, $65
Gold Star Variant, 24x36 screen print, 13 Colors, Numbered, printed with Metallic Gold, Run of 35, $90.
Cosmic Candy Variant, 24x36 screen print, 13 Colors, Numbered, printed on Rainbow Foil, Run of 60, $100
The posters are will be released this Wednesday, July 18th at 12PM ET HERE!

Stephen Blickenstaff Shatner Poster Release For Dr. Demento Covered in Punk

No comments:

Demented Punk unveiled the debut music video from the chart topping two-hour demented punk extravaganza Dr. Demento Covered in Punk. The album features an eclectic mix of artists from the world of classic and contemporary punk/indie/alt-rock, along with special guest stars from film, TV and more. This audio oddity is a modern-day homage to radio icon Dr. Demento, a world-renowned institution who has championed novelty music and its creators since the 1970s, available now at both physical and digital retailers. A full track listing can be found HERE.

The music video, produced by John Cafiero (of the band Osaka Popstar)—who also produced the album itself (and performs the “Covered in Punk” theme song heard at the conclusion of the video), can be viewed online now in its entirety via the Demented Punk YouTubechannel.

A much talked about track on “Dr. Demento Covered in Punk” is what Rolling Stone called a “growlingand expertly melodramatic” version of the Cramps “Garbageman” performed by pop culture icon William Shatner. Demented Punk is set to commemorate that culture-clash with the release of an amazing 18” x 24” screen-printed poster suitable for framing. The edition, limited to 300 prints worldwide, showcases a mind-blowing illustration by artist Stephen Blickenstaff commissioned specifically for ”Dr. Demento Covered In Punk”. The all-new design created in homage to Blickenstaff’s original 1984 “Bad Music for Bad People” cover art, beams in the likeness of the legendary Shatner in place of the late great Cramps front man Lux Interior. 300 hand-numbered prints will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, 100 of which have been personally autographed by William Shatner. The limited edition screen-print will be available exclusively at the Demented Punk online store starting 1pm EST on Friday July 20—while supplies last.
