Baby Driver And War for the Planet of the Apes Posters Release By Mondo

No comments:

On Thursday Mondo will have posters for two incredible new release titles: BABY DRIVER and WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES.

First up Mondo will have a poster by Matt Taylor for Edgar Wright’s latest, BABY DRIVER. Edgar is 110% without a doubt one of theur favorite modern filmmakers and his newest offering is a complete tour de force in the theater. Telling the story of (B-A-B-Y) Baby, a talented getaway driver stricken with tinnitus and driven by his music, the film is an action-packed heist thriller that’s completely propelled by its stellar and stacked soundtrack. Matt Taylor’s work on his poster is incredible and does a great job of marrying two of the core concepts of the film: fast cars and a killer soundtrack. It’s a great solution and his illustration work is, like the film itself, kinetic and effortlessly cool. The film is currently in theaters, and we absolutely suggest seeing it "large and loud."
"It’s rare that I make posters for movies I haven’t seen yet, based only on a trailer, unless it’s something pretty darned special *cough*theforceawakens*cough*. But when I saw the trailer for BABY DRIVER (and when I say saw, what I mean is: watched fifty times on repeat), I realized that this was something pretty darned special. Everything about that first trailer was unbelievably cool, and this poster just kind of seemed like the ONLY thing I could draw - luckily Eric, Rob and Mitch thought the same, and here we are. I finally caught the movie this week, and even after seeing it, I think this would still be my pitch for a poster." - Matt Taylor
In addition to BABY DRIVER, they’ll also have a poster for the concluding film in the brilliant new APES franchise, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES. Mondo are huge fans of Eric Powell’s work and his artwork for this poster is no different. I mean, it’s Caesar leading his army of fellow apes on horseback. Eric’s use of color and the lush, snow-filled environment is just gorgeous and wonderfully juxtaposed by the intensity of the apes charging forward. RISE and DAWN were each fantastic and they can’t wait to cap off the story with WAR this weekend.

"I've been a huge PLANET OF THE APES fan since I was a kid, so it was a huge honor to work with Mondo on this poster. As soon as I saw the trailers for WAR, I know exactly the aesthetic I wanted to go for." - Eric Powell

These poster will be available online at a random time on Thursday, July 13th at https://mondotees.com/

Matt Taylor A Princess of Mars And Tarzan of the Apes Poster Release

No comments:

Black Dragon Press are thrilled to announce two new posters celebrating the works of hugely influential popular science-fiction writer Edgar Rice Burroughs by the brilliant UK illustrator Matt Taylor.

They’re thankful to Jim Sullos at Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. for the opportunity, and of course to Matt for working with Black Dragon Press on this project.

Tarzan
18” x 24”
5-color screen print 270gsm Mohawk Superfine Ultrawhite
Hand numbered from an edition of 45

Princess of Mars
18” x 24”
5-colour screen print 270gsm Mohawk Superfine Ultrawhite
Hand numbered from an edition of 45

A few words from Matt Taylor:
Tarzan and A Princess of Mars set the template for so much genre fiction that to the new reader they seem instantly familiar because of the legacy they've created. Both of these books have been ill served by contemporary cinema, so it was great to have an opportunity to create posters that were free from the limitations of having to match up to existing visions of the characters and instead present my own take to, I hope, better match the tone of the writing.

Tarzan and John Carter are both men cut off from the worlds they know, so I thought it would be apt to have them isolated in their surroundings. It was a real pleasure to work on these posters and have Black Dragon give me this unique chance to tackle properties which are a little off the beaten path.” - Matt Taylor.
Tarzan Of The Apes and A Princess Of Mars by Matt Taylor will go on sale this Friday 16 September 2016 at 4pm UK which is 11am EDT time from their shop.

James Flames & Matt Taylor Back To the Future Posters Release From Mondo

No comments:

Future Day is upon us! Mondo have been counting down to 10/21/2015 since Back to the Future Part 2 was released in 1989 and the time has finally come. To celebrate this momentous occasion they're releasing two awesome posters from James Flames & Matt Taylor.

Back to the Future by James Flames. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 325
Variant by James Flames. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 175

James Flames on the poster:
If I’m being honest, there are very few movies that I liked as a kid that actually still hold up for me today. Very, very few. But man, the original BACK TO THE FUTURE is definitely one of them. I mean, I know why I liked it back in the mid-80s – like most kids, I was crazy about cars, crazy about 50s music, and Michael J. Fox was like the coolest dude out there. Everybody I knew wanted to grow up to be like him. Dude wailed on guitar! But what I can better appreciate about it now is that it wasn’t just cheap kid’s fluff – there’s real storytelling in there, great characters, cool concepts. And at the heart is this kid and this car, and the amazing adventure they get into together. And that’s what I wanted to focus on with my poster. That moment where Marty meets the Delorean...his life, and the entire world, are changed forever in that very instant. And of course, it was fun to play with the two time-eras and split them apart in the background (and then reverse them for the variant edition). So stoked to have gotten to illustrate such a cool movie. Heavy.”- James Flames
Back to the Future Part III by Matt Taylor. 36"x20" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 325.
Variant by Matt Taylor. 36"x20" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 175.

Matt on his latest Back to the Future Poster:
"As soon as Mondo asked me to do a poster for PART 2, I pretty much immediately knew what I wanted to do for PART 3. I know it has its naysayers, but as it was the only one of the movies I saw in the theatre upon release, it has a special place for me and was the one I really wanted to do a poster for. BTTF has always been this brilliantly weird anachronistic mess of styles with an 80s take on the 50s - and then that filtering back to the 1880s - so I wanted to make something that had hits of all those periods; the 1980s palette, the modern layout and the 50s lifestyle-esque styling of the horses. I don’t know if I was completely successful, but it’s the poster I’m most happy with, and I’m sure will present some interesting framing questions for those who want to hang all three of my prints for the trilogy - sorry!"- Matt Taylor

Matt Taylor Back to the Future Part II Poster Release By Mondo

No comments:

We've reached the year of the future! No better way to celebrate than with Matt Taylor’s BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II featuring the DeLorean's descent into Hill Valley circa 2015. Mondo released Matt's first BACK TO THE FUTURE print at Thought Bubble last November and are stoked to release PART II in two versions (the variant featuring a glow-in-the-dark layer).

A few words from Matt:
"When I did the BTTF poster last year for Thought Bubble I was determined to try and create a poster that didn’t feature the Delorean because - as I said at the time - I thought Laurent Durieux and Phantom City Creative had made the definitive DeLorean posters. But as it happened, I just couldn’t let the opportunity pass to draw that iconic car, seeing as the Mondo guys were so good as to let me take a swing at the second movie. And anyway, everyone knows the flying DeLorean is so much cooler than the original."
Back to the Future Part II regular edition by Matt Taylor. 20"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 325.

Back to the Future Part II (Variant) by Matt Taylor. 20"x36" screen print with Glow-in-the-dark layer. Hand numbered. Edition of 175.
