Chet Zar Siamese Witches Print Release Today

No comments:

Now this is how you do Halloween right. 1xRUN for the first time ever has a little treat from Chet Zar being released today.

"I’ve always been into this kind of fantasy world. The idea of other realms and dimensions. These kind of dream states and other unusual realms of existence. I guess that comes from watching horror movies and reading comic books when I was a kid. For me it's all about getting back to this place like when I was a kid. It’s sort of like you’re not fucked up yet when you’re a kid. It’s like you’re still sort of pure and it’s a pretense to self consciousness. You just do it and are in the moment which is how it should be as adults, but you just kind of grow up and lose that innocence. So painting is a way for me to get back into that state of mind. I spent a lot of time as a kid just dreaming up other worlds and thinking about them. Kind of escaping into fantasy worlds which is basically what I do now with the art." - Chet Zar

Siamese Witches is a 16 x 20 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Bright White Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 100

David Welker Robert Hunter 2013 Fall Tour Poster Release

No comments:

David Welker tried taking a vacation this summer but the man never stops working. Here is another piece that took shape while traveling through Europe this Summer was Robert Hunters Fall Tour poster. When he got home David took his sketches to pen & ink and a final screen print. The Hunters are truly sweet people and he had the pleasure of meeting Robert before his New York show.

Robert wanted David to do an homage the old Fillmore style that he was such a central figure in helping to inspire. So the result is a 12x24" Four Color screen print by Screwball Press with tons of subtleties. The Queen of Diamonds is sitting stoically like a fortune teller about to reveal your fate or hide it. David will have a very small number of personal AP's on sale today Wednesday at 3pm EDT over at www.WelkerStudios.com

Coop Original Cover Art for MXPX "Life In General" For Sale

No comments:

Here is how the art ended up being used for the album

I think most of us as some point look in our flat files and and exclaim damn I got too much stuff. You either buy more flat files if you have the room or you sell it. John Harris of Beyond the Pale is in that position now, he wants to unload some stuff and it is some really good stuff. How about some original art from the legendary COOP plus it's colored as well.

John purchased them directly from Coop on a visit to his home in 1997. Full color art like from COOP is super rare and seldom comes up on the market.

It is the front & back album cover art for MXPX “ Life In General” November 1996.

Original full color hand drawn & inked by COOP.

Front cover art: “The Jock & punk”

Back cover art. “Teacher & punk” 18 x 17 1/2 inches. Hand drawn & colored art by COOP 1996.

Off white 100lb stippled mat art card.
AUD $ 3500.00 each piece, OBO. Discount on both items.

Glenn Arthur All Heart, No Soul Print Release

No comments:

Halloween is and will always be my favorite holiday and season. I love anything macabre and spooky and so I try to create a Halloween themed painting every year. This piece actually stands alone from my other work. I created it merely to appease my desires of making art specifically to celebrate my favorite time of year: Halloween!

Hummingbirds have been a signature in my work for as long as I can remember. To keep them from getting dull or repetitive I like to change them up to fit whatever piece I’m working on. For this painting it only seemed natural that they should be little hummingbird/bat hybrids that I call humminbats!" - Glenn Arthur

All Heart, No Soul goes on sale today at NOON EDT at 1xRUN.com

It's so insane that Drafthouse Films is releasing THE VISITOR. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you are in for a MAJOR treat. Jay Shaw did the poster and the scene it depicts is one of the most jaw-dropping in the film... of which there are A LOT.

David Welker Phish Reading Poster Release Details

2 comments:

David Welker created a psychedelic version of Reading, Pennsylvania, for a stop on Phish's 30th anniversary tour.

"Reading's landmark Pagoda is on the right, and there's a reference to the Reading Railroad of past and how it's a river town situated among the hills," explained the artist. "I included different characters, possibly from Phishlore: Rutherford as a young lad crossing the bridge with his skateboard under one arm (instead of jumping in and drowning as he's destined to); townspeople with a lasso around an octopus who wants to return to the river; an alligator dancing with a banjo player in the street; and some strange, bulbous creatures fishing with their extendable tongues." On the horizon, a shark atop a pyramid alludes to the current fiscal crisis ... or the Phish song "Wilson," Welker hinted.

He conceived the design over the course of a month and executed the poster in two weeks. "After the pen, ink, and separations were drawn, I spent a few days on color concepts," he said. "At the last minute, I handed it over to my wife and our intern for their input. It has a feminine touch with the magenta, lavender, and neon greens – it's more fun than the colors I'd been using, which were somber and had an old-storybook feeling." The 22-by-14-inch, six-color screen print with a full bleed of metallic silver is inked on Madero Beach paper.

Welker also made a 4.25-by-6-inch, three-color screen print (buy it HERE) for Phish's newly released box set recorded live on December 7, 1995 in Niagara Falls. The print has an edition of 3500. "It's a sweet little image," Welker remarked. "I spent a lot of time in Niagara Falls and it has sentimental value for me because my parents lived up there for a while. I studied the falls and one of my previous mentors used to do huge paintings of the crest and currents, so I tried to capture that with pen and paper."

The Reading show poster is a 6 color screen print from master print maker Ben LaFond. All the layers of the print are sitting on a metallic silver full bleed. 22x14" Edition of 725 on French Madero Beach

David Welker will have his personal copies available tomorrow Wednesday, October 30th at 3pm EST $50
