Glenn Arthur The Visitant Print Release

No comments:

Glenn Arthur is back with 1xRUN today and his newest print release is titled The Visitant.

"This painting was created for the LAX/TXL group show in Berlin, Germany with Thinkspace Gallery. It is currently on view at the show through July 12th, 2014 and is available for purchase through Thinkspace Gallery’s website.

The tittle of this painting is very specific to the piece because the word visitant means, “a being believed to come from the spirit world” or “something, as a mood, feeling, emotion, etc., that overtakes a person from time to time.” I was having a severe creative block for a while when this image came into my head like a visitant and helped me to break through the block." - Glenn Arthur

Glenn Arthur The Groundskeeper Print Release

No comments:

"This piece was created for the 3rd Annual Supersonic Electronic Invitational in San Francisco. The painting was for a group exhibition of artists to showcase whatever type of work they wanted to display. I wanted to do something with more of a narrative feeling to it; something that could easily have a back story. I also adore all things macabre, so it was a perfect piece for me to submit to the show.

The print release date is on February 5th which happens to be my 35th birthday! Also, this is actually my first fully completed painting of the new year." - Glenn Arthur

Glenn Arthur All Heart, No Soul Print Release

No comments:

Halloween is and will always be my favorite holiday and season. I love anything macabre and spooky and so I try to create a Halloween themed painting every year. This piece actually stands alone from my other work. I created it merely to appease my desires of making art specifically to celebrate my favorite time of year: Halloween!

Hummingbirds have been a signature in my work for as long as I can remember. To keep them from getting dull or repetitive I like to change them up to fit whatever piece I’m working on. For this painting it only seemed natural that they should be little hummingbird/bat hybrids that I call humminbats!" - Glenn Arthur

Glenn Arthur Hide And Seek Print on sale today

No comments:

"This piece was created for a show called Incognito: A show of disguise, which was in October of 2012 . The original sketch is graphite on bristol paper, and then painting is acrylic on wood. I paint in thin layers of light washes of color on gessoed wood gradually building up layers until I achieve the desired look. The final painting is also coated in a satin varnish. The original is $700.00 and is currently for sale in San Francisco, CA at Mission: Comics & Art.

I wanted to create a bit of a surrealistic piece for the show where it was unclear whether or not the girl had eyes tattooed on her hands or her hands were actually transparent. It was kind of a throwback to the days of playing hide and seek as a child and trying to sneak a peek through your hands to see where your friends were hiding." - Glenn Arthur

Glenn Arthur Call In The Spirits, Wherever They're At Print Release Details

No comments:

1xRUN are excited to welcome in Californian artist Glenn Arthur as he brings us one of his latest pieces Call In The Spirits, Wherever They're At. This piece is an homage to the Disney character Madame Leota one of Arthur's favorite characters from Disneyland.

"This piece is a tribute to the Madame Leota character inside of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. It was created for the 3rd annual Monstoberfest show at the Rothick Art Hause gallery in Anaheim CA. The words on the banner are from her book of incantations that sits on the table in front of her floating crystal ball. They translate to "Bring to sight, one who is bound in limbo."

The Haunted Mansion has always been my favorite ride at Disneyland ever since I was a child, so I've always wanted to create a piece of art as a tribute to Madame Leota and I figured the annual Monstoberfest show at the Rothick Art Haus gallery would be the perfect opportunity. She is a blend of art nouveau and macabre romance mixed with my own style. I even went as far as to paint in a ghostly version of my signature hummingbird floating behind her. " - Glenn Arthur
