Tran Nguyen Miranda & Caliban Art Print PangeaSeed Foundation Release

No comments:

PangeaSeed Foundation is pleased to announce the latest print release in their 2020 print project, "In Peril: A Visual Story of Our Ocean's Greatest Challenges". Featuring original artwork by supporting ARTivist Tran Nguyen (USA), this limited art print edition highlights the importance of ocean stewardship and human connection to the marine environment.

Social and environmental justice are inextricably linked and not separate silos but by and large, the environmental movement has failed Black, Indigenous + POC communities. Historically, and presently, it has been fraught with privilege and it is high time for environmentalists to stand in solidarity and action with BIPOC. Without protecting the most vulnerable and bringing those voices to the table and elevating them, we will never be able to truly protect our home planet. Systems of oppression and environmental racism must be dismantled. To learn more about intersectional environmentalism, and how you can take action as an individual, business, or organization, visit www.intersectionalenvironmentalist.com .

Artist: Tran Nguyen (USA)
Title: "Miranda & Caliban"
Dimensions: 13x18 inches
Details: fine art giclee print on Canson Aquarelle 310gsm paper with one-inch border

Edition size: limited edition of 75 prints signed and numbered by the artist
Pricing: $100 USD

Release date: Thursday, July 30 at 12pm PST via shop.pangeaseed.org

Artist Statement:
"This the painting was originally created as a book cover. It depicts the two characters, Miranda and Caliban, from Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and their life on a remote island, which is symbolized by the seagulls.

I often paint figures enveloped by nature such as birds. I'm interested in the relationship between the two and how they co-exist with one another on the picture plane. The painting parallels our relationship with the environment as well as its impact on it, particularly on sea life. Gulls are scavengers that keep insects and other prey species population down and are essential in dispersing pollen for vegetation growth. Every species play an important role in maintaining their ecosystem and our interference disrupts this rhythm, whether it's due to our contribution to coastal pollution or habitat destruction. If everyone took a step back and minimized their involvement in these disturbances, we can co-exist together on a more sustainable and worthwhile picture plane." - Tran Nguyen

Andrew Alekseev Motley Crue Last Vegas Poster Release

No comments:

Iconic by Collectionzz is releasing its first poster for The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, Mötley Crüe.

Mötley Crüe's short-lived tour opening for Kiss in early 1983 was the band's first real opportunity to play on big stages on the West Coast. Kiss was undoubtedly a tough act to open for, as they had already reached the heights as one of the world's biggest bands and arguably the most spectacular concert attraction to date in rock history.
But Mötley Crüe didn't see it that way, as bassist Nikki Sixx explained. "I guess you could kind of look at it as a young band that was so hungry and so in its zone and we had yet to break, being like a young boxer," he said. "We just wanted to get in the ring with anybody. The ring was getting on that stage, playing in front of anybody's crowd. We didn't care whose it was because we believed in ourselves and we were in that place. We were in that positive place. Everything we were doing was working internally. We were just pushing it out and kicking ass. I guess we were naïve enough not to go 'Woah, they have all this stuff and we really have nothing,' We were just like 'Wow, put us on that stage and cut us loose.'"
The Aladdin Theater in Las Vegas opened on April 1, 1983 (April Fools Day); and the very first concert was Kiss with Mötley Crüe. It was the first time Mötley Crüe performed in Las Vegas. They hit the stage with early anthems "Live Wire", "Take Me To The Top", "Shout At The Devil" and "Looks That Kill".
To complete the circle, the band would be asked back to Aladdin Theater to close the venue on November 25, 1997. Collectionzz thought, what better way to kick off our first limited edition screenprint for the legendary Mötley Crüe than with this classic show, featuring a Vegas-inspired design by Andrew Alekseev.

Shout at the devil TODAY Wednesday at 12pm EDT on iconic.collectionzz.com!

Dave Kloc Sam Cooke A Change is Gonna Come Print

No comments:

Dave Kloc recently drew a portrait of Sam Cooke recording his seminal tune, A Change is Gonna Come, from 1964. He used the beautiful photography of him exhaling smoke in the booth as his source of reference. Dave posted the piece just to show that he was actually alive during the quarantine. The reception was positive to say the least and interest in making these images into prints was expressed.

There are 2 color-ways of the Sam Cooke print.

Prints are $35 each and a portion of the profits will be donated to the ACLU.

Each print is 20"x13" on Breathing Color Archival 300gsm Paper. The prints will have a .5" white margin. The edition size is currently open but each piece will be signed.

N.C. Winters A Moment of Magic Art Print Release

No comments:

N.C. Winters has a new art print dropping this week.
This print has been in the works for months now, an art print version of my Dave Matthews Band gig poster from September of last year. I knew I wanted to release the image on its own at some point as an art print, and in working on it since the original, the world has changed in many ways. It’s made it hard at times to continue certain creative plans made in the past, while properly focusing my creative energies on the right way to move forward. Many have expressed that me continuing to make art and do what I’m doing is still appreciated, and that makes some of it easier. So here we go: a new art print that I’m proud of and that I hope you’ll enjoy.

“A Moment of Magic” is an eight color screenprint, printed by the always stellar crew at Lady Lazarus in Houston. For this art release, I tweaked a couple areas from the previous incarnation as gig poster (sky, shadows, a few other tweaks) and added a transparent flake gloss in a pattern in the border and on the metallic and “shiny” areas of the print for added pop. In the images below, you can see the border pattern as a visual element, but in reality, it’s truly a transparent layer and is only visible from an angle. See pictures below for more clarity. - N.C.
The prints will be available in three colorways: "Main", “Nostalgia” and “Dusk” which echo the original gig poster colorway releases. He’ll also release a very limited (usually 5) hand-embellished versions of each print in the original drop for an added purchase price for those wanting something extra special. As always, these are uniquely hand-embellished, no two exactly alike.

The prints go live in the online shop this coming Saturday, July 11 at a random time after Noon EDT.

Elton John Los Angeles 1975 Poster By Matt Ryan Tobin Release

No comments:

Iconic by Collectionzz is releasing an official poster for Elton John for his historic concert at Dodgers Stadium in October 1975, which was recently featured in the movie “Rocket Man.”

The poster was illustrated by Matt Ryan Tobin, who discussed the poster with them. “I wanted the poster to feel like it could've been used to promote the show in 1975.” Matt researched vintage baseball card designs to create the poster's unique look, fusing that influence with his subject’s distinct aesthetic. “There were bones there to work with that I took note of but at the end of the day the card design needed to be elevated with that Elton style and flare.” Keen observers may notice the reflection of a rocket ship in John’s glasses. The subtle addition was Tobin’s nod to the classic tune “Rocket Man.” "I try to incorporate something subtle in all of my work that you might not see at first glance," the artist admits. "The baseball card composition needed just a little something more. A wink, if you will. Even the flashes of the cameras intentionally bleed into the sky with the stars; the entire feeling is cosmic in nature...which was the direction that was always at the forefront of my mind.”
