Tran Nguyen Miranda & Caliban Art Print PangeaSeed Foundation Release

No comments:

PangeaSeed Foundation is pleased to announce the latest print release in their 2020 print project, "In Peril: A Visual Story of Our Ocean's Greatest Challenges". Featuring original artwork by supporting ARTivist Tran Nguyen (USA), this limited art print edition highlights the importance of ocean stewardship and human connection to the marine environment.

Social and environmental justice are inextricably linked and not separate silos but by and large, the environmental movement has failed Black, Indigenous + POC communities. Historically, and presently, it has been fraught with privilege and it is high time for environmentalists to stand in solidarity and action with BIPOC. Without protecting the most vulnerable and bringing those voices to the table and elevating them, we will never be able to truly protect our home planet. Systems of oppression and environmental racism must be dismantled. To learn more about intersectional environmentalism, and how you can take action as an individual, business, or organization, visit www.intersectionalenvironmentalist.com .

Artist: Tran Nguyen (USA)
Title: "Miranda & Caliban"
Dimensions: 13x18 inches
Details: fine art giclee print on Canson Aquarelle 310gsm paper with one-inch border

Edition size: limited edition of 75 prints signed and numbered by the artist
Pricing: $100 USD

Release date: Thursday, July 30 at 12pm PST via shop.pangeaseed.org

Artist Statement:
"This the painting was originally created as a book cover. It depicts the two characters, Miranda and Caliban, from Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and their life on a remote island, which is symbolized by the seagulls.

I often paint figures enveloped by nature such as birds. I'm interested in the relationship between the two and how they co-exist with one another on the picture plane. The painting parallels our relationship with the environment as well as its impact on it, particularly on sea life. Gulls are scavengers that keep insects and other prey species population down and are essential in dispersing pollen for vegetation growth. Every species play an important role in maintaining their ecosystem and our interference disrupts this rhythm, whether it's due to our contribution to coastal pollution or habitat destruction. If everyone took a step back and minimized their involvement in these disturbances, we can co-exist together on a more sustainable and worthwhile picture plane." - Tran Nguyen

Eddie Colla Cacophony Laser Cut Acrylic Art

No comments:

This is an amazing piece of art from one of my favorite artists, Eddie Colla and produced by 1xRUN.

This piece measures 18 x 18 x 1.5 Inches. Archival Pigment Print on 3 Tiers of Laser-Cut Acrylic. Signed & Numbered edition of 25.

This RUN comes ready to hang.
"The Goldfish Girl was created almost a decade ago. I often revisit it, and she has been longest continuing character I've created. I often write back stories for these characters to help me create the pieces, but they are generally never shared with the viewer.

The Goldfish Girl was born in mainland China, and raised mostly by a single father. Her mother passed away when she was 18 months old from cancer. She was often very ill as a child, and was eventually diagnosed with a compromised immune system disorder, although a precise diagnosis was never given. This is the reason for always wearing the mask and gloves.

Her father bred Goldfish for a living and taught her that trade as a kid. They worked side by side and rarely had visitors because of her condition.

These images are vignettes of her life in Hong Kong. I've never given the character a name. Sometimes she is pictured with a boombox because music becomes a central companion to her mostly solitary life. In the piece Cacophony I wanted her to literally be surrounded by the city. In some way I think I tried to create a character that embodied a lot of traits I aspire to. To remind myself.” - Eddie Colla

Static Born & Raised Gallery Show In York

No comments:

The Art of Protest Gallery York is proud to bring Scarborough duo STATIC back to the North for their first solo exhibition in their home county. This follows exhibitions in Asia, the U.S and most recently in London.

Street artists Craig Evans and Tom Jackson have been working together under the name STATIC since 2006. Earlier this year, they were part of the UK’s leading mural festival in Bristol, Upfest; as well as joining the artistic protest in Bethlehem, ignited by the opening of the BANKSY hotel. Now for the first time in their long and successful career they have a solo exhibition in their home county of Yorkshire. During their residency in York STATIC will paint a floor mural in The Art of Protest Gallery and a wall mural at Brew York as part of the continuing public art program instigated by The Art of Protest since their opening 2 years ago.

STATIC’s studio work is created using a combination of screen printed and stencil/spray painted techniques. They also produce layered glass artworks which play with space and how a perceived 2D visuals can shift to reveal a 3D picture.

Their very first print - the Chinook Chandelier - quickly became an important motif of their work and has appeared across the world including this year’s UPFEST. They painted a mural using patterns found in their latest body of work and a 5ft stencil of the signature Chinook Chandelier.

Craig Humble, co-founder of The Art of Protest Gallery said “The exhibition, although focusing on new spray and collage work based on Modern Muses & Connexions will also work as a mini retrospective. This way the gallery can show STATIC’s journey and successes down south and around the world over the past 12 years including key signature themes, like the Chinook Chandelier which have had so much coverage in Bethlehem and Bristol.”

Jeff Clarke, the other partner of The Art of Protest Gallery, added “We love the way STATIC react to the ephemera of our everyday environments. The Connections pieces in the show started as a commission project with Network Rail where the guys have described the journey between York and Kings Cross through patches of pattern and design encountered on a specific journey.”

STATIC said: “The Chinook Chandelier has been our logo since we started working as STATIC back in 2006. It came about from us bouncing simple images and ideas back and forth between us and has appeared in many guises down the years.

“There’s two parts to it and individually they have their own meanings but when combined those associations are altered and flipped on their head. We think it’s a positive message and have always received a good response from members of the public who have seen us painting or pasting them up and we’ve always enjoyed reinventing it and reinterpreting it depending on what style or direction we’re working in.”

STATIC are also the Co-founders of a community street art project called Wood Street Walls, which uses street art to drive awareness & funding for community schemes and projects involving children and education.

While in town they will be painting 2 murals and preparing some surprises for you in the space, so stay tuned to keep up to date! Show opens Friday with preview on Thursday. Contact Craig or Jeff to RSVP for the Private View on Thursday 18th October! jeff@artofprotestgallery.com craig@artofprotestgallery.com

No comments:

PangeaSeed is pleased to announce the latest print release of their ongoing Sea of Change: The Year of Living Dangerously - Vol. 4 print suite by guest artist Ricky Lee Gordon (South Africa). The highlighted marine species of this edition is the endangered whale shark.

Artist: Ricky Lee Gordon
Title: "THROW A DROP OF WATER INTO THE OCEAN TO PREVENT IT FROM DRYING UP"

Edition size: 25 plus 5 APs signed and numbered by the artist
Paper: Italian cold press water color paper with hand deckle edges
Each print is hand finished with French ink wash and graphite by the artist making the edition incredibly unique.

On sale now via shop.pangeaseed.co

Artist statement:

My art allows me to explore my understanding of non duality, how we are in-separate from anything and everything. We are nature.I am you and you are me.

Yet we are disillusioned by a sense of self and because of this we cause harm to the environment and therefore to ourselves. Our natural world is dying around us and the solution lies in an awakening to this universal force of interconnection. My grandparents traveled the world diving and my grandmother would come home with stories of beauty and mystery from the depth of the oceans so when I was old enough I started diving myself and because of the travels that my art blesses me with I have been lucky to also now dive around the world.

The most awe inspiring and magical moment was when I got to swim alongside a Whale shark off the raw coast of Madagascar. Watching it dive into the deep blue abyss and reemerge through the suns lights rays is an image that is imprinted in my mind and heart.

No comments:

James Jean's new print, Max Pipe is a signed and numbered time-limited edition of giclée prints. The image is an homage to the painting Attirement of the Bride (La Toilette de la mariée) by Max Ernst. True to this age of decadent surrealism, this print features an elaborate sculpted die that accentuates each detail in the peacock and pipe, along with foil stamping in multiple colors throughout. Additionally, transparent holographic foil gives the body of the peacock an otherworldly iridescent sheen. The number of enhancements and dies required for Max Pipe makes this his most complex and lavishly produced print to date. It will be made available for 24 hours starting at 8:00 AM PST on Tuesday, November 14th and ending at 7:59 AM PST on Wednesday, November 15th. The edition will be limited by the number of prints sold during those 24 hours and never reprinted.

Saber Indivisible HPM Art Print

No comments:

Saber has released a new Hand Embellished print titled Indivisible.

Details from the graffiti legend: This print was an experiment from start to finish. This is a multi-dimensional mixed media print in the sense that the original image was created as a conceptual digital-video piece. From this video experiment I was able to capture the final image to be translated into the print format. This was tricky breaking the American Flag that was printed on glass and capturing the right moments as it shattered but as this process evolved and so did the outcome. I really went all out on these prints with the hand touching. Within the printed layers are raw spraypaint tags buried under multi-colored split fountains. I also penciled and spraypainted on top of the prints weaving these colors and gestures through the image. Now multiply each one of these hand done whips and bits times 128. This large multi-media print was definitely a challenge, but with this came some amazing results.

Standard Edition: 68 (60 available)
Size: Roughly 71 cm x 102.5 cm
Signed In Pencil and Numbered In Bottom Left Corner
Seriopress Chop In Right Corner
Hand Deckled Edges
Each Print Has Spraypaint And Pencil Embellishments
Signed COA
Each Print Is Unique From The Next

There are also black and white variants as well.

Rain Over Me Foilz HPM On Rain Drop Foil Release

No comments:

As many of you know The Who and specifically Keith Moon made the RAF roundel a part of the Mod culture of England back in the 60's and all in the name of style and pop-art. But where did it come from originally ?

During the First World War, the French used a tricolor cockade symbol to distinguish their planes from enemy aircraft. Initially the British painted the Union Jack under the wings and on the sides of their planes, however, from a distance, this marking was easily confused with the German Iron Cross. From 11 December 1914, the British followed the example of the French and, by reversing the colors of the target, created their own roundel and the new standard marking for the RAF.

After seeing this paper, with my love for The Who, Quadrophenia and Pearl Jam the idea came together.

Rain Over Me is a 12 x 12 inch HPM with Montana Gold spray paint and 2 stencils. The Rain Drop Foil paper is amazing in person. If you catch the light at the right angle it really looks like you are looking into a pool of water. Each one is unique and hand made. This has an edition of only 19.

There will also be a random GIVEAWAY of 3 test HPM's. The first one on Lava Foil is Fan Test. Yes I put the paper on a window fan turned it on and let the paint fly, only made 1. Next is Red Stickman on Rainbow foil, once again edition of only 1. The last one is White/Glow in the Dark Stickman on Rainbow Foil edition of 1. These will be randomly inserted into orders.

Handbill HPM's you can also order the Stickman on Lava Foil handbill that measures 5x7 inches. Or the Skull King on Lava Foil measuring 5x7 inches he was done with fluorescent paint and looks great under a black light.  You can only order these if you order Rain Over Me.

Rain Over Me goes on sale at 2PM EDT Wednesday on the FOILZ Page in the store HERE

Join the Resistance Foilz Hand Painted Multiples HPM Art Release

No comments:

Truth, Justice and the American Way was first heard in autumn 1942 by the fans of the Superman radio show. Yes people used to listen to the radio for entertainment. This great nation was started on the resistance movement from the King of England and for 241 years the men and women of the military and private sector have fought for America.

But now this administration wants our country to no longer be a leader in the world, no longer a beacon of hope those around the world wanting a better life. He would rather play golf, lie, threaten journalist who call him out on his bullshit, deny certain peoples civil rights and try to impose his dictator like policy's in order to enrich his family.

On this Independence Day do not accept anything this presidential administration does as normal. Question everything and never give up the fight for the truth and what is right. My disgust with the current situation bore this to serve as a constant reminder to not accept what is happening.  There is a red edition of 5 and a black edition of 5 both on Lava Foil paper measuring 12 x 12 inches. They were created with Montana Gold Spray paint.  On sale now at https://insidetheposter.com/collections/exclusive-prints-and-original-art/products/chef-join-the-resistance-foilz-hand-painted-multiples-art-hpm-2017
