Foo Fighters Austin Print By Todd Slater

Todd Slater designed the poster for the Foo Fighters show in Austin last year but there was a little problem with it.

According to Todd "I got a ton of emails about this one when the show happened but there was a minor print error I noticed when unpacking my copies that forced me to shelve them until they were able to be reprinted."

The idea behind the design "My vision for this print was to blend the 'Star Gate' sequence from 2001 with those awesome giant insect Sci-Fi posters from the 50s."

Poster is 18 x 24 inches, 5 screens, artist edition signed and numbered to 100 + 50 on lava foil. Original show date was April 18, 2018 at Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin, TX.

Foo Fighters Kansas City Print By Gary Houston Release

Foo Fighters had legendary poster artist Gary Houston design the print for the recent concert in Kansas City.

The poster is 18” x 26” 5 color silk screen on 80# neenah venus violet cover stock.

115 artist edition

8 foil artist edition and according to Gary they have a slight bend in the top right hand corner. It’s the way the stock was shipped and he was between a rock and a hard place… had to use it, very minor, but he wants to be honest on the condition of them.

Todd Slater Foo Fighters Seattle Poster Release

Todd Slater has released his artist edition poster for the Foo Fighters recent concert in Seattle.

Todd talks about his idea for the poster:

In 2005 the Foo Fighter's released 'In Your Honor' and it's a record that's been on my mind lately.  The band went on the campaign trail with John Kerry in a move I found surprising.  The Foo Fighters aren't an overtly political band and I'm not an overtly political artist.  Listening to that record again and studying the packaging, which features a tiny bison, some ideas for an image started to emerge.  When I think of America two symbols immediately come to mind: an eagle and a bison.  The bison, standing larger than life, represents the people of America.  The eagle is a representation of the ideas that make America what it is.  Lately, I've noticed many people staring the eagle directly in the eyes, questioning the ideas that make America the great country it is, and wondering whether or not those ideas and values are shrinking.  The arrows all point dead center as a reminder that all eyes are on us.

Darin Shock has a new poster and it's another first for him. He designed the Foo Fighters poster for the show in Cuyahoga Falls. It will be going on sale Friday 7-27-18 at 1pm EDT. There will be a regular edition, a lava foil and a rainbow foil. All will be available at www.stateofshockstudios.com

Darin talks about the his idea for the design:

While coming up with a concept, I was listening to and thinking about a few Foo Fighters songs...particularly "Learn to Fly" and "The Sky is a Neighborhood". I was thinking on themes of flight and space exploration and silliness (similar to many of their videos). The poster depicts a paper airplane launch being taken in by a fascinated girl in the foreground. I decided to use my daughter, Zella, for reference and was later convinced that was meant to be when I learned that Dave Grohl put his own daughters in "The Sky is a Neighborhood" video. I also thought it would be interesting to depict the band performing on the top of a shuttle launch station...a la the Beatles on the Apple building in 1969.
