Marc O'Brien (Doras) The Figurehead Art Print Release

No comments:

PangeaSeed Foundation are so excited to announce the latest print release for their 2020 print project, In Peril: A Visual Story of Our Ocean's Greatest Challenges
"The Figurehead" by supporting ARTivist Marc Obrien - Doras (Canada), this limited art print edition highlights the impacts of over fishing. Unfortunately, fisheries and aquaculture are wreaking havoc on the world's oceans. On a global scale, we have enough fishing capacity to cover at least four Earth-like planets.

In just over half a century, humans have managed to wipe out 90 percent of the ocean’s top predators. These are animals like sharks, bluefin tuna, swordfish, marlin, and king mackerel.

Artist: Doras (Canada)
Title: “The Figurehead”
Dimensions: 18 x 24 inches
Pricing: $75 USD
Edition size: 50 plus 5 APs
Printed on Canson Aquarelle 310gsm archival paper with one-inch border numbered by the artist
Printed by the good people of Static Medium (USA)

Release date: Thursday, September 17 at 12pm PST via shop.pangeaseed.org

Artist Statement:
"With “The Figurehead”, I wanted to illustrate some of the driving forces behind the destructive practices in the commercial fishing industry, particularly over consumption and over fishing. Soon after taking on this print design challenge with PangeaSeed Foundation, an image of this beast of a fishing vessel, trawling through the ocean like an opulent colonial ship, forced its way into my sketches. This is the kind of ship that historically brought with it a similar entitlement to, and reckless depletion of, precious resources.

Of course at the head of any serious vessel was the figurehead, a sculptural embodiment of the ship’s purpose. In this sense, although a real solution to the problem of over fishing will require the help of international policymakers, we as consumers are the ones strapped to the prow. We wield the collective symbolic power that is embedded in our consumption choices. We need to try our best not to disassociate from the source of our food, like the indifferent maiden at the front of this vessel, and be especially conscious that if at all, we are eating seafood that is non-threatened or sustainably farmed or harvested.

A huge thank you to the PangeaSeed Foundation team for the trust and encouragement and to the wizards at Static Medium for such a gorgeous job on the print!" - Doras

Sebastian Bentler Orgasmique Art Print Release

No comments:

Sebastian Bentler has new print available titled Orgasmique.

It is a four color Screenprint on 315gsm Innova Soft Textured Natural White handpulled by the artist.
Sheet size: 42x59cm (17x23″)
Edition of 10.
Signed, stamped and numbered.

This print obviously saves worthy women from the apocalypse, tsunamis and the like.
Walking through the waves as if in a bathtub. Actually the only work on Earth worth doing - saving those souls is the only true pleasure. But no one knows that of course. Was close to be called ‚What She Wants‘ but the title was too obvious and who is she anyway? But yes, back to the topic, suitable in times like these, close to the "climax".-Seb

The Notorious B.I.G. Print by Paul Jackson Release

No comments:

Iconic by Collectionzz is dropping it’s official fine art print for The Notorious B.I.G. by Paul Jackson! Collectionzz worked directly with Biggie’s estate to commemorate the 26th anniversary of his debut album Ready to Die, which is considered by many to be the best rap album ever made.
"It was a huge honor to be asked to create a poster for Notorious B.I.G. on the 26th anniversary of Ready to Die. I remember hearing the record for the first time in the mid-90's and being blown away by it. It was a new wave of hip hop for me and I was hooked straight away. Biggie's vocals are second to none and thats why he remains the king! This poster was trying to reflect some of the grittiness of Brooklyn and NYC at the time, and reflect his song titles within that world. Biggie always stood strong so the pose is supposed to reflect that. I like the image being simple yet somewhat direct and confrontational - much like his music." - Paul Jackson
Main Edition - $150.00 each
Officially licensed
Artist: Paul Jackson
Size: 24" x 36"
Edition Size: 200 Hand numbered, signed and custom RTD emboss
8 Color Screenprint on Cotton Rag Paper

8 Color Screenprint on Cotton Rag Paper
Holographic sticker on back of print for authenticity

Purchasers of the Main and/or Variant Edition can add a two color, 8.5" x 11" screenprint of the iconic Ready to Die baby. This isn't a photograph, it is a hand drawn rendering by Paul Jackson. Each will be signed with Collectionzz’s holographic sticker on the back of the print. All proceeds go directly to the Christopher Wallace Foundation.

Amok Island Endangered Marine Species of the World Poster Release

No comments:

PangeaSeed Foundation is pleased to announce the latest print release in their 2020 print project, "In Peril: A Visual Story of Our Ocean's Greatest Challenges". Featuring original artwork by supporting ARTivist Amok Island (Netherlands), this stunning limited art print edition highlights the mass extinction of endangered marine species.

We are amidst the largest period of species extinction in the last 60 million years. Normally, between one and five species will go extinct annually. However, scientists estimate that we are now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the normal rate, with multiple extinctions daily. Multiple species will disappear before we learn about them or the benefits they bring to our planet.

Artist: Amok Island (Netherlands)
Title: “Endangered Marine Species of the World”
Dimensions: A2 - 420 x 594mm
Details: 7 color screenprint on 100lb French cover paper.
Limited edition of 75 signed and numbered by the artist.
Pricing: $100 USD
Printed by the good people of VGKids (USA)

Featured marine species:
Hawaiian Monk Seal
Sea otter
Saw Fish
Bluefin Tuna
Manatee
Albatros
Green sea turtle
Blue Whale
Staghorn coral
Yellow-eyed penguin
Nassau Grouper
Great Hammerhead

Artist statement:
"Scientists estimate that we are currently losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the normal rate of extinction. Habitat destruction, exploitation, and climate change are driving the loss of half of the world’s wild animal population. We rarely see what's beneath the waves and the incredibly unique and important species that are responsible for balancing the delicate ocean ecosystem. I chose to highlight a selection of endangered marine species that I personally admire and want to help spotlight. If we can all see these animals with fresh eyes and understand their importance, we might have a chance to save them. I feel my art can help give these voiceless species a creative voice, and in turn, inspire and educate others to be better stewards of our oceans and planet." - Amok Island

Chadwick Boseman Charity Print Release From Grey Matter Art

No comments:

Greetings. This past Friday, the world was hit by the unsettling news on the passing of American actor, Chadwick Boseman. Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago and passed at the age of 43. He starred in many of the movies everyone knows and love during his battle with this illness, which truly shows his strong will and determination. Chadwick had quite a prominent film career, that left a lasting impression but some would say his most iconic and important role was as T'Challa, African leader and King of Wakanda. This had a strong cultural impact on the world and paved the way to bring in more diverse roles in movies that we so badly needed.

His family said this in a statement.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and several more - all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
So with that, Grey Matter Art want to thank Chadwick Boseman for his heart, soul, and inspiration that not only extended to the big screen but to the world.

GMA wanted to find a way to honor Chadwick and at the same time, do some good for those battling this terrible illness. So, it pleases them to feature their next upcoming release where we see 2 pieces of beautiful concept art from his most iconic role, Black Panther. The first print shows T’Challa in the Ancestral Plane which conveys beautifully imagery by the very talented concept artist and illustrator, Vance Kovacs. Vance helped create much of the concept art that gave the movie it's unique look. The next piece shows our Wakandan King against a gorgeous vast backdrop of Wakanda by Head of Visual Development at Marvel Studios, Ryan Meinerding. GMA hopes that Chadwick would appreciate these 2 pieces that were chosen to represent him in the film.

Jay Ryan Wear A Mask Print & More

No comments:

Jay Ryan has released four new art prints and by far my favorite is the "Wear A Mask" one.
Says Jay
"Generally I try to keep my public service announcement prints kind of positive and optimistic, but these are indeed weird times.

Some people apparently have a hard time understanding that we still have to wear masks because the virus is spreading because people aren't wearing masks. No one wants to wear masks, but if this minor inconvenience is what saves the lives of other people, aren't you smart enough to be a team player? Of course I'm not directing this at anyone who's receiving this email, but I expect we've all seen ignorant folks being willfully ignorant. Hope they can get their stuff together before more folks die.

I hope you are all healthy."- Jay
