No comments:

Bottleneck Gallery have got a new neighbor: David Welker! David recently relocated his art studio to Brooklyn, and they’d like to welcome him, and all of you, to the neighborhood with a brand new Open House!

Despite the big move, David’s been pouring his time into a multitude of new pieces, and he’s incredibly excited to share them with all of his fans. The new studio is filled to the brim with David’s work, both old and new, and they’re excited for everybody to take a look around!

Here are the details for the event--all times listed below are in EDT:

Doors to Welker Studios, located at 60 Broadway, will open Saturday (6/1) @ 2PM. The show will run until 6PM.

Due to the new location, camping is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. To make it fair for all attending, they’ll be implementing the following process:

They will have a sign-in sheet on Friday (5/31) from 12PM to 6PM; and on Saturday (6/1) from 8AM until doors open.

For people arriving on Friday 12PM ET, they will hold a lottery at 12:30PM EDT to determine your position for making a purchase at show’s opening. Please be advised that you will have to return at 1PM EDT on Saturday (6/1) to join the entry line. Orders will be taken in sequential number order! If you are not present when your number is called, you will forfeit your place in line and must go to the back of the line in order to purchase anything.

Each person will receive a ticket after signing in. ONE ticket per person, and you CANNOT sign in other people.

David Welker will be in attendance throughout the event.

Refreshments will be served!

There will be several new originals and the main gallery space will be hung salon style with dozens of pieces from his three decade long career. David will be debuting close to twenty new limited edition prints including techniques from deep impression letterpress to screen print to special ultra violet cured varnished giclees and foils! There will also be two show cards specially made for the opening.

David will be in attendance greeting visitors and hand remarking prints all day, so please don't be shy.

Moving forward the gallery will have public hours and they will continue to have special openings as new work emerges. Says David "As an artist this is truly a dream scenario to have an ongoing public venue for my work in such a cool place, hosted by a crew of visionary professionals with a worldwide reputation of excellence, the best customer service in the business and who continually treat artists and collectors with respect and dignity."

Ravi Zupa It's Time To Pull Off The Impossible Print Release

No comments:

Ravi Zupa has released the third of five posters in the monthly series, Marvelous Adventures. In Hinduism, Hanuman represents perfect self control, strength, stamina and devotion.

Ravi on the inspiration for this print:
There are many other monkey heroes and trickster characters in mythologies throughout Asia and many of those stories are related to Hanuman.

The story depicted here is one of his most famous adventures. During a battle, his comrade Lakshmana was injured and the only remedy came from a specific medicinal plant which grew on a mountain in the Himalayas. Being the strongest and fastest in the group, Hanuman was charged with the task of traveling thousands of miles to this mountain to retrieve it.

When he arrived, he discovered that many different plants grew there and not knowing which was the right plant, he lifted the entire mountain and carried it all the way across India to the place where Lakshmana was dying.

I love this story. My wife and our team often say “Let’s pull off the impossible” when we take on big art projects and ambitious goals and I think of this story at those times.
TITLE: It's Time To Pull Off The Impossible
SIZE: 24 x 36 Inches

The Specials Oakland Print By Zoltron Relase

No comments:

Not often you see a poster for a ska band now add in some Zoltron magic, oh yeah those horns are rockin.

Z on the poster:
I've always loved The Specials. I used to steal my sister's album and lock my door play 'A Message to Rudy' over and over and over... And now all these years later, I was somehow invited to do a poster for one of their shows.

Naturally, all I could think of was Black and White, Rude Boy, Checkers. I think all that goes without saying, but it sort of transformed from there and became what it is... Friends Emek and Shepard Fairey each made amazing posters as well for various shows.

Poster measures 24” X 18”
Screen Print Mezzos 'n Metallics
Signed/numbered edition of 160
Printed at Monolith Press in Oakland

Artist Release Weds 5/29 at 11am (PST) at the Zoltron Store

Darin on the poster:
This is intended to represent a vintage boxing promo poster. It was quite a different approach for me in that I drew very little, to keep it as authentic and realistic as possible. I wanted to depict Seth, Scott and Bob with serious game faces, juxtaposed next to Joe's big smile. Anyway, hope you dig it and good luck if interested in grabbing one!

Anonymous Ink & Idea Rodrigo Y Gabriela Hollywood Poster Release

No comments:

Anonymous Ink & Idea has a released a new old poster.

Details from AII:
I had a wonderful time immersing myself in Rodrigo Y Gabriela's music last summer, meticulously laying down thousands of tiny dots to the intricate rhythms and melodies of their discography. The poster was masterfully printed by my partners over at Lady Lazarus and shipped off to the Hollywood Bowl to a sold out audience. However, my life sort of fell apart that same week, and I never released my copies. They've just been sitting in my flat files this whole time.

So... I am officially releasing them today, and I'm also raffling off a hand drawn original for all orders placed between now and midnight, May 23. The winner will be selected on Friday May 24. See my Instagram (@anonymousii) for details and process video on the hand-drawn original.

Artist Statement:
“In illustrating corals, I realized how much the forms and colors are reminiscent of the human circulatory system. It is easy to neglect taking notice of our heart's health when we are young and feeling invincible. It is only when we get older that we start to feel the effects of the things we have taken into our bodies throughout the years. We only decide to be proactive in taking better care of ourselves once it is too late. For the sake of our hearts and the oceans, the next generation is learning from past mistakes and starting to live consciously and with intention.”

Eddie Colla Cacophony Laser Cut Acrylic Art

No comments:

This is an amazing piece of art from one of my favorite artists, Eddie Colla and produced by 1xRUN.

This piece measures 18 x 18 x 1.5 Inches. Archival Pigment Print on 3 Tiers of Laser-Cut Acrylic. Signed & Numbered edition of 25.

This RUN comes ready to hang.
"The Goldfish Girl was created almost a decade ago. I often revisit it, and she has been longest continuing character I've created. I often write back stories for these characters to help me create the pieces, but they are generally never shared with the viewer.

The Goldfish Girl was born in mainland China, and raised mostly by a single father. Her mother passed away when she was 18 months old from cancer. She was often very ill as a child, and was eventually diagnosed with a compromised immune system disorder, although a precise diagnosis was never given. This is the reason for always wearing the mask and gloves.

Her father bred Goldfish for a living and taught her that trade as a kid. They worked side by side and rarely had visitors because of her condition.

These images are vignettes of her life in Hong Kong. I've never given the character a name. Sometimes she is pictured with a boombox because music becomes a central companion to her mostly solitary life. In the piece Cacophony I wanted her to literally be surrounded by the city. In some way I think I tried to create a character that embodied a lot of traits I aspire to. To remind myself.” - Eddie Colla

Guy Burwell Posies Rockville & My Morning Jacket Posters

No comments:

Guy Burwell has 3 new posters he released recently.

Late last year, My Morning Jacket requested a small limited edition of an Archived Print to be reproduced as a sort of anniversary of sorts. It was Guy's print from the 2005 Portland show with Saul Williams and it was offered online through mymorningjacket.com. Guy has a few left of his small artist edition available. The Original archived art files were used for this print, reprinted with modern inks with an updated tagline so as not to confused between new and old edition as is only fair. S/N, doodled edition.

Guy loves Power Pop music and loves Smart Lyrics. Put those together and mixed into the tip top of the creamy froth is The Posies. He was thrilled to be asked to do a small edition of prints for Ken and Jon as they made their way across the "United" States on this electro-acoustic duo tour.

This year, he will have two Festival Prints. Welcome to Rockville, Jacksonville, FL, 2019, featuring the first stop on TOOL's anticipated 2019 return to touring, as well as kool stuff like Rob Zombie and Korn and a who is who of the world of art shock and darkternative groove blisters (which you can buy now). The other being the Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, OH, featuring FOO FIGHTERS and System of a Down, Joan Jett / Blackhearts, The Cult, The Hives and many more this weekend. But you will have to wait to see the Sonic Temple one until next week.

Gregg Gordon Jerry Garcia Bicycle Day Print Release

No comments:

For Gregg Gordon of Gigart it was an honor to be asked by the Jerry Garcia Estate to create this psychedelic art print for Bicycle Day 2019.

Garcia Family Provisions celebrated Bicycle Day, Dr. Albert Hoffman’s famous wide-eyed ride on April 19th, with a limited edition print designed by Gregg Gordon at GIGART. They sold out of their signed and numbered edition of 500, and all of their Foil Variants of editions of 25 each.

GIGART has a limited edition of 30 Artist Prints of the Main Poster. GIGART also has 5 copies of each Foil Variant (sparkle, lava, rainbow and gold mirror) to be made available. Plus a few Blotter Art Paper versions too!
"When I was asked to create this Bicycle Day print, I knew that I wanted to make something psychedelic, colorful and strong. I wanted to juxtapose different images that would relate to Jerry, Bicycle Day, and LSD. I illustrated Jerry as the main focal point surrounded by elements such as a bicycle, stripe patterns from his Cats Under The Stars album, the shapes created by the mind bending liquid light shows, a tiger in reference to his main guitar which is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year, roses and more. One last detail was that I imagined Jerry having an out of body experience on LSD, so I drew him up in the corner watching himself in the moment." - Gregg Gordon / GIGART.

Jim Evans Kaaboo Festival Poster & Johnny Rotten Print

No comments:

Jim Evans aka TAZ worked with the Kaaboo Festival to create a unique one-of-a-kind piece for this weekends epic show at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas. TAZ is a big fan of Texas, and slapped his logo on a silhouette of the state, along with the Dallas Cowboys star and a tattooed longhorn steer. A little different than his normal work, the design is bathed in blended psychedelic colors to accommodate the unique Kaaboo logo. Printed at Kelly Graval’s legendary Risk Rock Studio (they are neighbors), the poster will be available starting tomorrow and going through the weekend at Kaaboo. Risk and TAZ also did 10 hand embellished pieces that will get snapped up on a first come first served basis. Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd, back to back, in Texas? That is worth it alone.

Urban rubble and an empire in tatters are imbued with an updated color palette based on the artistic engagement between TAZ and Dennis, revealing a psychedelic multi-layered print. Ravi Zupa It Is Inexhaustible Art Print

No comments:

As winter fades away and the natural world begins to wake, Ravi Zupa is ushering in spring with the release of the fourth print in the Tattoo Gratitude series. This one depicts a dragon, a cat who has caught a snake, and a peacock.

This fourth piece in the Gratitude tattoo series depicts a dragon, a cat who has caught a snake and a peacock. The words for this print are chapter 35 of the Tao Te Ching, reminding us that we have tools to center ourselves and stay clean-minded regardless of what happens outside of us. Good advice for such a time. Ravi likes this chapter because it describes this kind of clarity as utterly boring and ordinary.

Stay alert, stay ready and always draw from the well of calm inside you. That well cannot run dry. It’s inexhaustible.

There is a single color and 2 color print to choose from.
