Fargo Gabz Poster for Paramount Theatre’s Summer Classic Film Series From Odd City Entertainment

No comments:

Regular

Variant

Odd City Entertainment is excited to announce in conjunction with Paramount Theatre, a limited edition screen print for a screening of Joel and Ethan Coen’s Academy Award winning movie, Fargo, at Stateside at the Paramount on Wed., August 21st in Austin, Texas. The screening is part of Paramount Theatre’s Summer Classic Film Series which features Film Noir 101; classics that recall the history of Noir while taking it in a new direction.

Roman Morales, Odd City CEO and print connoisseur, discussed working with the artist Gabz on his print for this iconic and cult classic movie, “Fargo was the first piece Odd City had fully produced with Gabz. There were a lot of late nights and several weeks of back and forth to make sure this piece was perfect. The versions that had been considered and dismissed could fill a book. There were people with their heads chopped in half, outrageously brilliant colors, and even a landscape version. If there was a book on the prints that Gabz had produced to date, I have to believe there would be an entire chapter dedicated to Fargo alone. Gabz wanted nothing more than perfection. With the cooperation of the cast, the tools were all laid out in front of him. All he had to do was let his imagination run wild. I believe he nailed it.”

Both Regular and Variant prints will have a GID layer with the Variant printed on a pearlescent paper. Posters are 24 x 36 inches and the regular has an edition of 325 and the variant 135

Release and Purchase Information:
The Odd City limited edition movie posters will be sold at the Stateside at Paramount’s screening of Fargo on Wed., August 21st. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the Paramount Box Office on day of show. For more information, visit the Paramount Theatre’s website

Paramount Theatre Film Fans will receive priority when purchasing prints. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Austin Film Society. Any remaining posters will be sold later online.

Godmachine Icon of Sin Doom Print & Jonathan Wayshak Doom Print World Premier Exclusive

Godmachine Icon of Sin Doom Print

Jonathan Wayshak Doom

One of the first video games I played on a computer was DOOM. After wielding the BFG I was hooked, played everyone after that and then Quake.  Bethesda and ID Software set the bar for first person shooter games and now they once again breaking new ground with prints based on their popular video games.

If you follow Godmachine you know that he teased the news recently about a DOOM print. Well here it is the exclusive reveal of Icon of Sin. This will be a screenprint with an edition of 333 measuring 18 x 24 inches.

I have another exclusive reveal as well, this one by Jonathan Wayshak who has done comic book work along with having his art in various gallery shows across the country including Gallery1988. His DOOM print will be a giclee print with an edition of 333 measuring 18 x 24 inches.

Well when can I get these badass prints you ask ? Thursday at Quakcon in Dallas. QuakeCon is a free convention held annually in the Dallas, TX area. Thousands of computer gamers from all over the world make the pilgrimage to play with their friends on a giant gaming network, see the latest cool technology, and compete in world-class tournaments. The 20th anniversary of DOOM is this year, so Treehouse Brands wanted to make a splash and try to do something fun, art-wise, plus it's their first year at Quakecon. They will have 50 of each print to sell at their booth which is #404

You may be asking who is Treehouse Brands, they run the official stores for a number of different big video game properties. They worked with Galley1988 on the American McGees Alice art show back in 2011 and last fall had a series of prints based on the Tomb Raider game as well.

Now for those of us not at QuakeCon they will have online sales of both these prints on Friday August 16 in the Bethesda Store HERE. Yes they do know how to ship prints I asked, they'll be shipped from their office by a video-game-obsessed collector-type they hired expressly to care about thier art shipments, rolled carefully in heavy duty kraft mailing tubes (the extra-sturdy 4inch U-Line ones).

Derek Hess Heavy Heart Print

No comments:

Derek Hess has released a new print titled Heavy Heart.

Derek on the creation of the print

this piece was inspired by a significant loss in my life. heavy heart is about where i was, not how i got there. it's meant to reflect where that was, where words can't describe. my route there was through jose's death, that was my journey. others have different journeys but the destination is the same, it takes you "there". being "there" is a universal feeling everyone has to experience...everyone has been there....or will be, it's part of the human experience.

The print is signed and numbered edition of 300, 22 1/4 x 28", printed on 100# uncoated archival acid free cover paper.

Cronos Mike Mignola Poster & The Devils Backbone Guy Davis Poster Release From Mondo

No comments:
Mike Mignola 18"x24" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 185

Guy Davis 18"x24" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 210.

As a fan since the first issue of the Hellboy comic book came out, I'm pretty excited to see Mike Mignola doing a movie poster for Mondo.  They continue their collaboration with The Criterion Collection by celebrating two releases from Guillermo del Toro. CRONOS (spine #551) features artwork by the legendary Mike Mignola and separations made especially for this screenprint by multiple Eisner award-winning colorist, David Stewart. THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE (spine #666) features all-new artwork by the renowned comic illustrator Guy Davis in a beautiful 9-color screenprint.

About CRONOS:
"Guillermo del Toro made an auspicious and audacious feature debut with CRONOS, a highly unorthodox tale about the seductiveness of the idea of immortality. Kindly antiques dealer Jesús Gris (Federico Luppi) happens upon an ancient golden device in the shape of a scarab, and soon finds himself the possessor and victim of its sinister, addictive powers, as well as the target of a mysterious American named Angel (a delightfully crude and deranged Ron Perlman). Featuring marvelos special makeup effects and the haunting imagery for which del Toro has become world-renowned, CRONOS is a dark, visually rich, and emotionally captivating fantasy."

About THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE:
"One of the most personal films by Guillermo del Toro, THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE is also among his most frightening and emotionally layered. Set during the final week of the Spanish Civil War, it tells the tale of a twelve-year-old boy who, after his freedom-fighting father is killed, is sent to a haunted rural orphanage full of terrible secrets. Del Toro expertly combines gothic ghost story, murder mystery, and historical melodrama in a stylish mélange that, like his later PAN'S LABYRINTH, reminds us the scariest monsters are often the human ones."

The Criterion Collection has stunning Blu-ray and DVD editions of both THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE and CRONOS available now. Please check www.criterion.com for more information.

These posters will be available online at a random time on Wednesday, July 31st at Mondotees.com

JC Richard How Time Slips Away July Print Release

No comments:

JC Richard has debuted the new Nature Guild art print release for July:

"How Time Slips Away", 10x26.5 - 5 color screenprint

Solitary adventures are nice to have every so often, but without a companion to share them with (human or otherwise), sublime moments like this one just don't seem to mean as much...

This scene is dedicated to a friend who has been constantly either underfoot or at my side for 13 years now. He's an old man by canine standards, but still the best pup there ever was..
JC Richard
JC plans the onsale for this one as soon as he gets the Three Voices stuff shipped out this week. I'll update this post with the exact day when he decides on the day.

Scott Scheidly's "The Pinks" Gallery Show at Spoke Art

No comments:

This really looks like a fun show to check out. Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco is pleased to present "The Pinks" a new exhibition of original paintings by Florida, USA-based artist Scott Scheidly.

"The Pinks" explores the cultural and social implications of color and how the predefined notions that accompany these perceptions can alter one's identity and subsequent world view. By incorporating either hyper-masculinized or historically infamous figures, Scheidly further drives the point home, making a mockery of his subjects though biting socio/sexual satire.

Looking beyond the initial shock value, Scheidly further raises questions regarding power and those who wield it. By incorporating notorious individuals such as Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler and Kim Jong Il, alongside religious leaders such as Pope John Paul II and Ayatollah Khomeini, one can't help but wonder about the personal insecurities that power must bring on in these subjects and such insecurities are manifested.

Featuring thirteen acrylic on masonite paintings, Scheidly's debut solo show with the gallery serves as a continuation of his ongoing pink portrait series which first debuted in 2011at a Spoke Art pop up exhibit in New York City. Since then, Scheidly's works have been exhibited (and subsequently sold out) at the Scope Art Fair during Art Basel Miami Beach in 2012 as well as at the 2012 and 2011 ArtPadSF fine art fair in San Francisco.

Please join Spoke Art Thursday, August 1st for the artist's first solo show with the gallery. Complimentary refreshments will be served and the artist will be in attendance.

A brand new limited edition print will also be available for purchase at this event.

"The Pinks" will be on view until Saturday, August 24th.
