Prometheus Poster by Gabz Release From Grey Matter Art

No comments:

Variant

Grey Matter Art is excited to announce it’s next release! In partnership with Acme Archives and Dark Ink, under license from 20th Century Fox, GMA will be revealing a new screen print for the film, “Prometheus” by the very talented artist, Gabz (Grzegorz Domaradzki). GMA have always been huge fans of the Alien franchise, director, Ridley Scott, and H.R. Giger, and they couldn’t be more thrilled with how this print came out. “Prometheus” comes in 2 separate editions, a regular & variant edition.

I'll be honest, when I opened the email from GMA about this, first thing I said was "Wholly Shit"

“Prometheus”
Artist: Gabz
Size: 24x36
Regular Edition: 225/$45.00
Variant Edition: 150/$60.00
Printed By: Lady Lazarus

This is Gabz's artist statement regarding "Prometheus":
'I've been a fan of Alien franchise since the very beginning and always enjoyed terrifying yet mesmerizing worlds created by Sir Ridley Scott, so I couldn’t be happier for having a chance to work on an officially licensed print for Prometheus. The idea for this poster struck me after re-watching it for the third time and I almost instantly started drawing... For me it was a sort of back to basics, because the image was entirely made with pencils on paper, later scanned and digitally enhanced in Adobe Photoshop, and later color separated for screen printing. I’m pleased to say it’s practically a personal work and really wanted to thank Grey Matter Art guys, Acme Archives Limited and Dark Ink Art for letting me do this piece my way. The idea was to depict Architect’s pale and godly profile with a human fetus inside his skull. Attentive viewer should be able to spot at least few references to xenomprph and H.R. Giger’s work that inspired "worlds scariest alien”. The title is “Creator of Men” or simply “Architect” and my intention was to yet again pay homage to Polish Poster School which is very close to my heart not just because of my origin. With this print I also wanted to somehow recollect my earlier years, back when I was an art student and was absolutely obsessed with anatomy and human body in general. Hope fans of the franchise will appreciate my take on the film."
This Poster will be released on Wednesday, March 22nd at 1PM EDT at greymatterart.com

Gabz RoboCop Movie Poster Release From Grey Matter Art

No comments:

Grey Matter Art, under license from MGM Studios is proud to present a New Officially Licensed, Limited Edition Screen Print for the Classic 80's Action Film, "Robocop" by one of their favorite artists around, Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz). This is the 3rd poster Grey Matter Art has produced for this classic property. There are 2 separate editions for this poster, a Regular & Variant Edition. Poster will be released Wednesday

Artist Statement:

“It was a challenge to pay tribute to such a 90’s classic, which on top of that, has been done by so many amazing artists before me. Till this day I remember how shockingly violent and bloody this movie was, back when I saw it for the first time as a teenager
and I thought that my print definitely needs to reflect some of that bloodiness. Opposite to some other takes on the franchise, my Robocop is one tough looking cyborg who “saves the day” and helps few poor thugs to “stay out of trouble”.
I’m happy with the customised title treatment and the whole layout was intended to look like some sort of a fictional OCP flayer."-Gabz-

Artist: Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz)
Size: 24x36
Regular Edition: 225/$45.00 (Hand-Numbered)
Variant Edition: 100/$65.00 (Hand-Numbered)

Gabz Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child Poster Release From Dark Hall Mansion

1 comment:

Dark Hall Mansion is thrilled to reveal their latest officially licensed Jimi Hendrix limited edition prints, "Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child" by leading contemporary artist, Gabz, and on sale this Thursday, September 10th, 2015!

Dark Hall Mansion, under license from Authentic Hendrix and Bravado International, their worldwide licensing agent, will release Gabz's fantastical vision of a peaceful yet creatively unbound Jimi. With a nod to one of Jimi's most extraordinary songs, 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return),' a both gorgeous and ferocious showcasing of Jimi's unequaled talents, Gabz perfectly captures Jimi's perpetually dual nature, both here and of another place, through two masterful pieces that harken to the best of vintage Polish rock poster artwork of the late '60s and early '70s. On that, from the outset we explained our admiration for this period and style to Gabz and he was instantly familiar and at once drawn to its aesthetic, having deep personal experience and background as a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland.

Gabz's vision for his Jimi was a bold evocative rock portrait using strong, rich lines, vibrant colors, and highlights of delicate line work, at once evocative of classic Polish prints of the period as well as referencing the best of black light posters that so dominated the walls and bedrooms of countless rock fans everywhere. His Standard edition perfectly captures Jimi's ethereal nature with seemingly endless creative waves emanating from Jimi's mind, hearing sounds and songs only he could hear, guitar strap hinting at his ready axe. Gabz's Variant edition is an electrified beauty, stripped of all and distilling Jimi to his essence, all the while underscoring Gabz's striking detail and line work throughout Jimi's face, the Variant including a simple strike of Jimi's actual signature to complete a piece that begs for black light showcasing.

"Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child" limited edition prints go on sale THIS THURSDAY, Sept 10th on Dark Hall Mansion's dedicated store page here: http://www.darkhallmansionstore.com/ at 9:30 AM PST.

"Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child" Standard Edition of 280 $65
"Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child" Variant Edition of  50  $100
"Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child" Foil Edition of 10 (based on the Standard edition colorway) $150
"Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child" Foil Edition of 10 (based on the Variant edition colorway)  $150

All editions are screen printed, hand numbered, and measure 24" x 36."

Gabz Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movie Poster Release Details

No comments:

Grey Matter Art is proud to announce their next release for the 4 part artist series for the 40th Anniversary of the film, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Their next poster is by the very talented Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz). This is GMA sixth project collaboration with Gabz, and they are so excited with his idea for the film, and think it works very well as a companion piece to their other Texas Chainsaw Massacre posters in this series.

Regular Edition: 150/$50.00
Variant Edition: 100/$65.00
Foil Variant Edition: 75/$115.00

This poster is going on sale on Thursday, April 30th at a random time between 1-2 PM est in the GMA website shop page.

What Gabz had to say about the project:

“Being a huge fan of what Jason Edmiston and Florian Bertmer did for the same title before me, as hard is it was, I wanted my piece to be something completely different.
I’ve been wanting to work on something more editorial-looking for months, and with a title as long as this one, I felt it’s a perfect opportunity not to be wasted.

Since viewers of this classic horror flick are meant to believe it's based on a true story, custom-designed typo that looks like a front page of some crazy newspaper seemed like a right thing to do.Instead of focusing on just one scene or character, I included several plot points and all the essential characters destined (or not) to end up on Sawyer’s dining table."-Gabz-

I love working on titles that had an impact on me back when I was growing up. First Blood (and Rambo character in general) are definitely among them. I still remember how this great piece of cinema moved me back when I saw it for the first time.
No doubt it was and remains one of the saddest movies from the 80’s. Both me and GMA guys wanted to capture some of that sadness on this image while at the same time keeping it very iconic… almost monumental.
Personally I’m very happy with the outcome. Consider this my final take on one of my biggest “old time heroes”: Sylvester Stallone. Hope I gave you justice John J... -Gabz-
"First Blood" was one of my favorite movies growing up. I loved all of those 80's films, but there were always certain ones that always stood out to me that I would watch over and over again, and this was one of them. Yes, the movie had some great action scenes, but I always thought it was such a sad film. Sylvester played this role of an outcast and an unwanted man when he came back form the war so well. You rooted for him until the last minute. And you can't forget about the music for this movie too. The film's score was composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith, and played so well to the film. This poster by Gabz depicts Rambo as that lonely man, and I am glad he chose to take it this way, instead of the "epic" action movie poster feel that most people think of when they envision the movie. I couldn't have asked for a better turn out from Gabz than this one".- Mike of Grey Matter Art

Top Gun GABZ Movie Poster Release World Premiere Exclusive

No comments:

Hang on to your cup of coffee because I feel the need, the need for speed as we head into the Danger Zone care of GABZ and Odd City Entertainment. It's my please to reveal GABZ's Top Gun poster for the defining 80's film starring Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer and many others.

For all of us who grew up in the 80’s, Paramount’s Top Gun is one of the most seminal action films from our formative years. Despite its machismo, male and female viewers alike love this film.

It was the top grossing film of 1986, made household names out of its stars, and inspired multiple parodies that continue to be produced to this day.

The Top Gun print by Gabz features the popular fighter jets from the film, and is designed to be viewed in two directions.

Gabz discusses the movie and poster he designed
“When you’re an 80’s kid like myself you just had to see and fall in love with Top Gun. Sure it has that testosterone/macho vibe that used to be so popular back in those days. Call me nostalgic, but I consider it a classic action flick, with brilliant aerial sequences, cool characters and an awesome soundtrack. When approached by Odd City for this print I knew I wanted something horizontal this time around. I decided a jet fighter battle recollecting the Cold War era should really work well with this title. I also wanted to step back from the complex multi-character based compositions with this one, and to design the print in a way so it could be viewed upside down as well.” - GABZ
The posters measure 36"x24" inches and are 8 color screen prints on Holographic "FOIL" Paper. There will be two colorways Sunset (orange and red) and Magic Hour (blue and red). Each colorway will be an edition of 100. Each one will cost $100. Fully licensed and Numbered edition

For sale Monday December 15th, 2014 around 11am CST at www.oddcitystore.com All prints will begin shipping the following day - Tuesday Dec 16th. Prints are already printed and in hand. Visit Odd City Entertainment and get on that mailing list.

The Terminator GABZ Movie Poster Release Details

No comments:

Grey Matter Art under license from Studiocanal S.A. is proud to present a New Officially Licensed, Limited Edition, Screen Printed Poster by Artist, Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz) for the iconic film, “The Terminator." This will be the first in a 2 poster set with "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" following the month after by Gabz as well, to form a dyptich. Grey Matter Art is extremely excited to release this poster as Gabz has done a phenomenal job representing both films. Below are details on the poster for "The Terminator."

Title: "The Terminator"
Artist: Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz)
Size: 24x36
Regular Edition: 325/$50.00
Variant Edition: 175/$75.00
Foil Variant: 50/125.00

Here is what GABZ said about the project:
"The Terminator" and "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" are both one of those movies I always wanted to work on, so when Mike Gregory from Grey Matter Art approached me with the offer, it was like a dream come true. I wanted something with strong imagery, action packed, and with a glimpse of the future as seen in both movies. While I'm hoping the artworks will speak for themselves, two things worth pointing out is that the general concept was inspired by an interview with James Cameron I read a while back, in which he stated that he had a dream about a cyborg/robot coming out of the flames, and as we all know the rest is pretty much a cinema history. The other thing I wanted, was to design both posters to form a diptych."-Gabz

Grey Matter Art will be selling this poster on their website shop page on Tuesday, December 16th at a random time between 1:00-2:00PM EST.

Gabz Escape From New York Poster Release Details

No comments:

Grey Matter Art and StudioCanal present a New Limited Edition, Screen Print by artist, Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz) for the iconic film “Escape From New York”. This will be the first official poster for the John Carpenter classic released in 1981, featuring Kurt Russell as hero “Snake” Plissken. Also, this will be Grey Matter Art’s second offering and first collaboration with Gabz, who said this about the project, “When Mike Gregory, co-founder of Grey Matter Art offered me an opportunity to work on John Carpenter’s “Escape from New York,” I didn't hesitate much. My main intention was to deliver something a little bit different from what I’ve been known for until now… something less character based, more focused on the movie’s atmosphere, and true to the original poster artwork. Being a fan of the original and iconic poster, my print also has post-apocalyptic streets of New York City, gang members, and the majestic Statue of Liberty (or what was left from it) dominating the skyline. Except Snake Plissken, in my version is all by himself: tired, hurt, on the run, and fighting against all odds. Perceptive viewers should also notice Snake’s plane crossing the red walls of the New York City prison, and the bottom grid which is intended to be a tribute to visual effects used in the movie”. !

Creative Director Mike Gregory also had this to add “When we had the chance to obtain the rights to “Escape from New York," I was very excited and honored to have a shot at it. This movie, in my eyes is a true 80’s classic, which still holds up to this day. Snake is such an iconic character, and I wanted to have this movie presented in a way that does it justice. Being this is the first authorized art poster based on the film, there was only one artist in my eyes that I wanted to take on this project, and that was Grzegorz Domaradzki (Gabz). Though most collectors are probably used to his multiple character compositions, I think he did a great job that separates this from his other work, focusing mainly on Snake, when he is injured, and at his lowest. Gabz depicted this perfectly, and we are very proud to have such a great poster to release to the public. People have been waiting for this movie to have an official poster for it, and I think this is the one.”!

 Regular Edition: 325/ $50.00!
Variant Edition: 175/$75.00
 24 x 36 inches

Fargo Gabz Poster for Paramount Theatre’s Summer Classic Film Series From Odd City Entertainment

No comments:

Regular

Variant

Odd City Entertainment is excited to announce in conjunction with Paramount Theatre, a limited edition screen print for a screening of Joel and Ethan Coen’s Academy Award winning movie, Fargo, at Stateside at the Paramount on Wed., August 21st in Austin, Texas. The screening is part of Paramount Theatre’s Summer Classic Film Series which features Film Noir 101; classics that recall the history of Noir while taking it in a new direction.

Roman Morales, Odd City CEO and print connoisseur, discussed working with the artist Gabz on his print for this iconic and cult classic movie, “Fargo was the first piece Odd City had fully produced with Gabz. There were a lot of late nights and several weeks of back and forth to make sure this piece was perfect. The versions that had been considered and dismissed could fill a book. There were people with their heads chopped in half, outrageously brilliant colors, and even a landscape version. If there was a book on the prints that Gabz had produced to date, I have to believe there would be an entire chapter dedicated to Fargo alone. Gabz wanted nothing more than perfection. With the cooperation of the cast, the tools were all laid out in front of him. All he had to do was let his imagination run wild. I believe he nailed it.”

Both Regular and Variant prints will have a GID layer with the Variant printed on a pearlescent paper. Posters are 24 x 36 inches and the regular has an edition of 325 and the variant 135

Release and Purchase Information:
The Odd City limited edition movie posters will be sold at the Stateside at Paramount’s screening of Fargo on Wed., August 21st. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the Paramount Box Office on day of show. For more information, visit the Paramount Theatre’s website

Paramount Theatre Film Fans will receive priority when purchasing prints. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Austin Film Society. Any remaining posters will be sold later online.
