Oliver Barrett First Blood RAMBO Movie Poster Release

No comments:

Mondo have a new poster in their partnership with their friends over at Nautilus Art Prints for one of the greatest action films ever: FIRST BLOOD by Oliver Barrett.

Based on the novel by David Morrell, the 1982 film introduced much of the world to one of Stallone's other iconic characters: John Rambo. They're particularly fond of how Oliver nailed that stone-cold gaze as Rambo wages a one-man war through the lush Pacific Northwest.

Regular edition is a hand numbered edition of 300 and the variant is an edition of 82. Both are 24 x 36 inch screenprints.

Mondo excited to offer the Regular Version of the poster right now at The Drop.

The Variant Version will be available at 1 pm EDT over at Nautilus Art Prints.

Todd Slater Dark Crystal Movie Poster

No comments:

Todd Slater is back with a good one today. Last year at Mondocon they debuted his Dark Crystal print and now you can get one.

It's a big one at 18x36 inches and features lots of pretty under printing and painterly textures.

Todd on the design
Dark Crystal was one of the first children's movies to really scare me. There's something about the puppetry and the terror of the Skeksis that felt palpable, visceral and real. For me, Henson's imagination is unparalleled and his films (Labyrinth and Dark Crystal) have stood the test of time as my favorites from childhood along with Star Wars and Neverending Story. The art took about a month and half to draw over January and February of 2019. It's difficult to photograph but I'm really starting to push the boundaries of under printing and painterly textures in the color separations.
On sale now at www.toddslater.net

Lee Bermejo Gangs of New York Movie Poster Release By Mondo

No comments:

Mondo are excited to have a new poster by the great Lee Bermejo for Martin Scorsese's GANGS OF NEW YORK. Set in the Five Points district of 1863 New York, the film focuses on Irish immigrant Amsterdam Vallon as he seeks revenge against his father's killer - William Cutting, aka "Bill the Butcher." Scorsese's American epic is grandiose and full of gorgeously detailed mid-19th century production design as well as great performances, including a particularly magnetic Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill. Lee Bermejo is one of our favorite artists and his bottomless talents prove a beautiful match for Marty's grimy and brutal epic.
"GANGS might be my favorite Scorsese movie. Yeah, I know he made TAXI DRIVER, GOODFELLAS, and RAGING BULL. All amazing, all in my top 10, but none of them have Bill the Butcher. C'mon Marty...crossover opportunity." -Lee Bermejo
This poster will be available on Thursday August 2 at a random time from mondotees.com.

Oliver Barrett Uncle Drew Movie Poster Release By Mondo

No comments:

Mondo are very, very excited about their poster release this week. A lot of them at Mondo are big basketball fans, so as soon as UNCLE DREW was announced as a full-length feature film, they knew they had to do something for it, and the art was to be handled by none other than the mighty Oliver Barrett. Oliver's poster is about as perfect as you could hope for, paying homage and pulling inspiration from iconic basketball trading cards of yesteryear.

Matthew Woodson Solaris Movie Poster Duel Release

No comments:

On Thursday Mondo will have the next release in their partnership with the fine folks at Black Dragon Press - a gorgeous poster for SOLARIS (Andrei Tarkovsky’s mesmerising sci-fi masterpiece) by Matthew Woodson. In addition to SOLARIS, they'll have a poster by Leslie Herman for one of their favorite films to release in 2017, THE DEATH OF STALIN. The film is a biting political satire/slightly exaggerated true story that focuses on the immediate aftermath of Joseph Stalin’s death as his colleagues fumble around to determine who will assume the now vacant seat of power. Leslie’s art is striking, bold and - like the film - very funny. If you haven’t seen the film, do your best to seek it out and settle in for a hilarious ride.

The SOLARIS (US Version) and THE DEATH OF STALIN will be available Thursday (6/21) at a random time via mondotees.com. SOLARIS UK Versions (two gold variants, one with the title in English and one in Cyrillic) will available at 5PM UK time via Black Dragon Press.

Claire Hummel Jurassic Park Movie Poster Release

No comments:

It's dinosaur week at Mondo as they celebrate the opening of the latest chapter in the iconic JURASSIC PARK franchise!

In addition to Michael Giacchino's excellent soundtrack for the new film, they'll have a gorgeous new poster by Claire Hummel for the one that started it all - JURASSIC PARK! Steven Spielberg's seminal classic is a film that truly stands the test of time, inspiring as much magic, awe and wonder today as it did 25 years ago. Claire's approach, choosing to focus on man's meddling with science, is incredibly smart and one of their favorite posters for the film yet. Mondo couldn't be more proud of how this one turned out. The poster is 18"x24" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 300

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM opens in theaters this Friday. The film is a big dose of summer fun and they definitely encourage getting out to see it big and loud.

This poster will be available Wednesday (6/20) at NOON (CT) via mondotees.com.

HEREDITARY by Randy Ortiz & A GHOST STORY by Sam Wolfe Connelly Posters Release From Mondo

No comments:

This week Mondo will have a couple of posters for a pair of incredible films from their friends at A24. First up is a new poster for their latest release, HEREDITARY. Not only one of the scariest horror films to come out in some time, this is one of the best films of 2018. Period. They hit up Randy Ortiz to create a poster for the film and the end result is an image worthy of the film’s nightmarish imagery and themes. To say anymore would possibly ruin some surprises, so all they’ll say is they urge you to get to the theater to see this film as soon as you can.

In addition to HEREDITARY, Mondo will also have a poster for A GHOST STORY by Sam Wolfe Connelly. This was a really special film and one of their favorites to come out in 2017. Sam Wolfe Connelly's sullen, moody poster perfectly references the emotional complexity of the film.

Both of these posters will be on sale on Friday (6/8) at a random time via mondotees.com.

Fábio Moon How To Talk To Girls At Parties Poster Release From Mondo

No comments:

On Friday Mondo will have a stunning new poster by Fábio Moon for A24's latest film, HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES. Adapted from a short story by Neil Gaiman and directed by John Cameron Mitchell, the story is set in 1970s London and follows Enn and his friends, John and Vic, as they find themselves at a "party" that is actually a gathering of visiting aliens. The film is a ton of fun and features stellar performances, particularly from Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman as a basement-punk "low" priestess. Mondo are huge fans of Fábio Moon and are crazy excited to partner up with him for duties on this poster. He and his brother Gabriel Bá were the artists on the original short story and they knew instantly they had to ask if he'd be interested in creating art for the film adaptation. Be sure to check out the film in theaters this weekend!

"There's something about the connection of the main characters (who are a couple) that's very intimate, very quiet, and at the same time transmits the explosive effect of falling in love. I wanted to put that sense of intimacy in the poster as well as capture the energetic punk aesthetics of the film." - Fábio Moon

This poster will be available Friday at a random time on mondotees.com.

Jay Gordon Murders in the Rue Morgue Posters Dual Release

No comments:

Mondo and Black Dragon Press are very excited to release a brand new poster for Edgar Allan Poe’s thrilling mystery tale ‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue’ by South African illustrator Jay Gordon. Widely recognized as the first modern detective story, ‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue’ changed the history of world literature, with the character of Dupin becoming the prototype for many future fictional detectives, including Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot. Jay’s epic nine colour poster gives a modern twist to this timeless classic and they’re absolutely delighted to put it out into the world.
“This was one of the first stories I read of Poe’s and I remember being both as terrified as I was intrigued. I had a few shots in my head of where I thought the viewer could be placed, but this one I think told the story best. Although Dupin is the hero of this story with his deductive prowess, I wanted to focus on the horror and tragedy of the murder, where the central figure in this story is a wild animal filled with rage and confusion due to his capture and ill treatment. The viewpoint suggests the eyes of the sailor as he looks through the French apartment window upon the ruin and degradation that he has caused, and the three victims within.” - Jay Gordon
US Variant
18" x 24" hand-pulled screen print
270gsm Mohawk Superfine Ultrawhite paper
Hand numbered. Gallery stamp on the reverse
Limited edition of 60

UK Variant
18" x 24" hand-pulled screen print

Limited edition of 60

‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue’ by Jay Gordon will go on sale this Thursday 24 May at 5pm UK time in the Black Dragon Press Store and at a random time from the MONDO website for their North American friends.

Marc Aspinall A Wrinkle In Time Movie Poster Release From Mondo

No comments:

On Thursday in partnership with their friends at Cyclops Print Works, Mondo will have a gorgeous new poster for A WRINKLE IN TIME by Marc Aspinall! Ava DuVernay's re-telling of this iconic children's book is truly a visual feast. Marc's composition beautifully combines the quiet stillness of Meg's bedroom with the lush and vivid landscapes that await their adventure to rescue their father. The folks at Mondo were blown away by his use of color and ability to capture the magic of imagination.

24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 300.

"I remember having wallpaper in my bedroom that was adorned with characters and clouds, and it inspired the dual composition. The wallpaper is coming to life, exploding around Meg and her siblings. Much like how time is manipulated in the film, I'm doing similarly with space and perception. I really wanted to bring that feeling of color, immediacy, larger-than-life landscapes juxtaposed with the quiet contemplative middle portion, hinting at two contrasting realms that somehow meet in the middle." -Marc Aspinall

This poster will be available Thursday (5/10) at a random time at mondotees.com.

Edward Scissorhands & RoboCop Movie Posters Release By Mondo

No comments:

Thursday Mondo are celebrating two of their favorite films centered around the theme of cybernetic human alteration! First up, they have a gorgeous new poster for EDWARD SCISSORHANDS by Shan Jiang. Tim Burton's beautiful 1990 fairy tale is a modern classic and they're very excited to team up with Shan on their first poster for the film. The movie tells the story of Edward, a kindly figure whose inventor (the legendary Vincent Price) dies before he's able to complete his creation, leaving him with scissors for hands. Very much a modern FRANKENSTEIN, Shan's approach to his poster beautifully captures Edward as a solitary tragic figure who is a kind and endlessly creative soul with a monstrous appearance. Shan's work on the sculptures flanking Edward is amazingly rendered and beautifully detailed.

In addition to EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, they'll have an awesome poster for ROBOCOP by Josan Gonzalez! Presenting a gritty slice-of-life take on decadent and crime-ridden Detroit, Josan's approach to ROBOCOP is suitably full of grime and packed with amazing detail. They've been excited to collaborate with Josan on a poster for a while and couldn't be more stoked on the final result. There is a variant as well.

These posters will be available Thursday at a random time via mondotees.com.

Francesco Francavilla Tomb Raider Movie Poster Release By Mondo

No comments:

On Friday Mondo will have an awesome new poster for the new TOMB RAIDER film by one of their favorite artists to work with - Francesco Francavilla! Many of the folks at Mondo are huge fans who grew up adoring the TOMB RAIDER video games, so when the opportunity came up to develop a poster for the new film, they were absolutely stoked.

Francesco’s poster features a stunning rendering of Alicia Vikander as the iconic and titular Tomb Raider, Lara Croft. As usual, Francesco killed every facet of the piece from colors to composition. The arrowhead frame around Lara is an added cherry on top. TOMB RAIDER opens in theaters tomorrow, so be sure to check it out.
"When Mondo asked me to do a poster for the new TOMB RAIDER movie, I got very excited! Not only did I have the chance to draw a modern pop-culture legend (I was very familiar with the games, previous movies, and even comic book incarnations), but I had the chance to draw one of my favorite actresses, Alicia Vikander, as well. I drew her previously in a promotional EX MACHINA poster commissioned by A24. This was one of those win/win situations!" - Francesco Francavilla
