Francesco Francavilla Tomb Raider Movie Poster Release By Mondo

No comments:

On Friday Mondo will have an awesome new poster for the new TOMB RAIDER film by one of their favorite artists to work with - Francesco Francavilla! Many of the folks at Mondo are huge fans who grew up adoring the TOMB RAIDER video games, so when the opportunity came up to develop a poster for the new film, they were absolutely stoked.

Francesco’s poster features a stunning rendering of Alicia Vikander as the iconic and titular Tomb Raider, Lara Croft. As usual, Francesco killed every facet of the piece from colors to composition. The arrowhead frame around Lara is an added cherry on top. TOMB RAIDER opens in theaters tomorrow, so be sure to check it out.
"When Mondo asked me to do a poster for the new TOMB RAIDER movie, I got very excited! Not only did I have the chance to draw a modern pop-culture legend (I was very familiar with the games, previous movies, and even comic book incarnations), but I had the chance to draw one of my favorite actresses, Alicia Vikander, as well. I drew her previously in a promotional EX MACHINA poster commissioned by A24. This was one of those win/win situations!" - Francesco Francavilla

Francesco Francavilla And Jay Shaw Get Out Movie Poster Release By Mondo

No comments:

Jordan Peele’s GET OUT is an absolute gut punch of a film. Not only is it one of the best and most important movies to come out so far in 2017, Mondo ranks it among the top movies of the last several years. The film tells the story of an interracial couple, Chris and Rose, as they travel to Rose's family estate to spend a weekend with her parents. Things get increasingly dark as the visit goes on and more sinister discoveries come to light about her family’s past.

Mondo are beyond excited to have two incredible posters available for the film by Francesco Francavilla and Jay Shaw, each rife with rich subtext, themes and imagery, available tomorrow in celebration of the home video release. Francesco’s poster features Chris trapped in the vast expanse of the sunken place, while Jay takes a visceral approach in illustrating themes touched upon in the film.

The fact that GET OUT was Jordan Peele's directorial debut is all the more impressive and they absolutely cannot wait to see what other stories he has to share with the world. GET OUT is available on Blu-Ray/home video Tuesday and they highly recommend picking it up and watching it immediately.

These posters will be available at a random time tomorrow (5/23) on Mondotees.com

Karloff, Lugosi, Lee, Cushing, were all childhood friends of mine so needless to say I was ecstatic when Vice Press asked me to do a Hammer Dracula poster - been wanting to do that for ages. Hail Caesar Posters By Francesco Francavilla & BLT Communications Mondo Release

No comments:

Friday marks the release of the new Coen Brothers film and Mondo cannot be more excited. HAIL, CAESAR! is a comedy/noir film set in the Golden Age of Hollywood and when it came to choosing an artist, one name immediately came to mind: Francesco Francavilla.

Francesco thrives when it comes to giving a property a period authentic and vintage aesthetic. Setting the colorful cast of characters that inhabit - and possibly inhibit - Eddie Mannix's (Josh Brolin) search to rescue legendary screen actor Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) within the larger central image of Whitlock's portrait is a great solution. Francesco's decision to frame the image with Roman flourish that mimic film strip sprockets neatly tie it all together.

Said Francesco: "I've been a huge fan of Coen Brothers movies for a while now, so when Mondo approached me asking to do a poster for their latest film, I replied with a big 'YES!!!!!' People who know me know how much I love the '40s and '50s pulp settings (Black Beetle ;) ), so the movie set in that time period was just the extra cherry on top."

Hail, Caesar! by Francesco Francavilla. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 275.

Mondo will also have a second poster originally created for the film by movie poster agency BLT Communications. Mondo are big fans of BLT and their work here is so clear and striking they thought it would make for an excellent screen printed poster. They're thrilled BLT was on board and beyond stoked to be able to release this one alongside Francesco's tomorrow.

Hail, Caesar! by BLT Communications.18"x24" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 125.

These posters will be on sale February 5th, at a random time at Mondotees.com. Be sure to check out HAIL, CAESAR! in theaters this weekend!

No comments:

TEXAS SUN & BLOOD VARIANT
Grey Matter Art, under license from Vortex Inc, Tobe Hooper, and Kim Henkel is proud to announce their last and final release for the 4 part artist series for the 40th Anniversary of the film, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." This poster is by talented artist, Francesco Francavilla. This is our first collaboration with Francesco, and I think he presented us with a classic take on the film. Below are images and details on the poster release.

Artist: Francesco Francavilla
Size: 24x36
Regular Edition: 225/$50.00
Variant Edition: 150/$65.00

This poster will be going on sale on Thursday, May 21st at a random time between 1-2 PM EDT at http://greymatterart.com/

Grey Matter Art on the Series:
We are so happy to unveil our final poster in this series to everyone that has been waiting so patiently for it to be announced, and I think it was well worth the wait to show this classic representation of the film. It was a pleasure working with Francesco, and I could not be happier with what he gave us, this is the perfect poster to close the series with. This piece is just so gritty looking, especially the variant edition, with the blood spatter with the darker yellow tones to it. It really is sums up the film in a perfect way. I think all of the artists did such a great job in this series and each really brought something a little different to the table. It was a blast working with everyone to make this project come together, and I hope everyone really enjoyed what we have released.

Motel Hell Francesco Francavilla Movie Poster Release World Premiere Exclusive

No comments:

As someone who recently got a meat smoker it is my pleasure to show you exclusively this tasty new treat, Motel Hell Poster by Francesco Francavilla and being released by Skuzzles. Motel Hell is a 1980 horror comedy film directed by Kevin Connor and starring Rory Calhoun as farmer, butcher, and meat entrepreneur Vincent Smith. People come from far and wide to sample Farmer Vincent's distinctively flavored dried, smoked sausages, but one might well ask why there are so few people staying at his nearby motel, named Motel Hello but the neon O in Hello is always flickering out. It seems that the good farmer only uses the highest quality, specially processed human meat in his treats. To prepare the meat, he first harvests healthy tourists from his hotel. Next, he plants them into the ground up to their necks and with a sharp knife carefully slices their vocal chords. He and his portly sister Ida then feed the victims until the meat is tender and well marbled with fat. Afterward they are promptly slaughtered, minced with a few secret herbs, and stuffed into sausage casings, which are then carefully aged in the smokehouse.

I talked to Francesco Francavilla about the poster:

Did Skuzzles give you a choice of movies to choose from to make a poster and if so why Motel Hell?
My first collaboration with SKUZZLES was the cover for the collector edition of JEEPERS CREEPERS dvd/blu-ray. Working on that with Brock was so much fun so when that gig was completed, we wanted to do more and soon. And the chance to do it presented itself almost right away with the MOTEL HELL poster. Brock asked me if I was interested and of course I was! '70s/80s horror? Hell yeah! :)

How did you decide on this design ?
I know usually the original MOTEL HELL posters have the chainsaw, but I wanted to go a different route and play on the fact that in the movie, at that place, they were serving "that" kinda meat. Hence my idea to use the cleaver (with reflected image of the victim). Thankfully both SKUZZLES and MGM loved the idea right off the bat. Of course, since we were planning a variant, we thought making the cleaver as foil for that edition was the right thing to do. Gotta say this was (again) much FUN to work on, so I am definitely looking forward to more SKUZZLES projects in 2015.

Here are the details on the poster

Motel Hell - Regular
8 Color Screen Print
24 x 36 Inches
Edition of 135
$50

Motel Hell - Variant Foil Knife Edition ( The picture above is the actual poster)
8 Color Screen Print

Edition of 45
