Friday marks the release of the new Coen Brothers film and Mondo cannot be more excited. HAIL, CAESAR! is a comedy/noir film set in the Golden Age of Hollywood and when it came to choosing an artist, one name immediately came to mind: Francesco Francavilla.
Francesco thrives when it comes to giving a property a period authentic and vintage aesthetic. Setting the colorful cast of characters that inhabit - and possibly inhibit - Eddie Mannix's (Josh Brolin) search to rescue legendary screen actor Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) within the larger central image of Whitlock's portrait is a great solution. Francesco's decision to frame the image with Roman flourish that mimic film strip sprockets neatly tie it all together.
Said Francesco: "I've been a huge fan of Coen Brothers movies for a while now, so when Mondo approached me asking to do a poster for their latest film, I replied with a big 'YES!!!!!' People who know me know how much I love the '40s and '50s pulp settings (Black Beetle ;) ), so the movie set in that time period was just the extra cherry on top."

Mondo will also have a second poster originally created for the film by movie poster agency BLT Communications. Mondo are big fans of BLT and their work here is so clear and striking they thought it would make for an excellent screen printed poster. They're thrilled BLT was on board and beyond stoked to be able to release this one alongside Francesco's tomorrow.
