Ok Deadheads we got a very special Free Friday Poster Giveaway. David Welker was so kind, he is giving one of you the chance to win this dope Grateful Dead poster from their Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago last year. They sold out at the show and David said no to the GD to do a second edition for online sales. This one is a Printers Proof, it is not numbered but there are maybe 30 or so. Not for sale ever.
Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment about what you're favorite Grateful Dead song or album. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the Random Number Generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 PM PDT Saturday February 27 and the winner will be announced on Sunday.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite album, as cliche as it sounds, is definitely American Beauty. Doesn't matter where I am in life or what time of year it is, every time I listen to it I feel like it's summertime and I'm 17 years old again. The beautiful mix of folk, rock and psychedelia is so far up my alley that I don't think there will ever be an album that resonates with me as much as this one does.

ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks Mr. Welker! Aaah, so, if I had to choose a GD favorite, I'd say "Two From the Vault", a live one from 4.23-24.1968 @ the Shrine Auditorium. Absolute gnarly, smokin' hot show featuring an incredible Dark Star->St.Stephen->the Eleven, and on and on and on. New Potato Caboose! It's a beauty from start to finish. The fellas were hungry these nights, and I'm grateful they released it on vinyl, which has enabled me to hear things I've never heard before, i.e.: Bobby making wise cracks in the rest in St. Stephen, etc. Good, good stuff. Kinda like your art work. Anyways, many thanks Mr. Welker for this opportunity and for the amazing work you put out. Many thanks and much respect.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to say Truckin'. I know it's probably considered by many to be a big hit song and therefore cliché but for me it will always remind me of come to the US on a working holiday visa from New Zealand in the mid 90s of spending much of a summer working in a friends back yard in Oregon building a lawn irrigation system. In between listening to Neil Young's Mirror all we'd flip Grateful Dead tunes and this track maybe 2-3 times a day
