Jay Ryan Purring & Drink Coffee Art Prints

No comments:

Jay Ryan has dropped two new prints. One is called Purring, and you have to admit that this print is reasonably accurate. He's had a bunch of requests for more "smaller" prints after his recent "Trees That They Once Lived In / We Now Live In" print (which is still available). Purring is 12.5 by 19 inches, and can depart for your house today.

The other print will be a favorite among coffee lovers. Says Jay "I had lunch with a world-traveling friend recently who told me several intriguing stories about extravagant concoctions he had imbibed in various locations, and he said something along the lines of "I drink all over the place". I took out my reliable Field Notes book and wrote this down, as my brain no longer retains clever ideas for very long, and it was soon adapted into this motto which I can stand behind." Again with the 12.5 by 19 inches. Already hanging in several of his local shops. Available to you.

Arna Miller Yesterday is Gone Print

No comments:

Illustrator Arna Miller has made available her latest poster, a five-color screen print titled “Yesterday is Gone.”

The design of the new poster is reminiscent of a vintage advertisement that shows the product (in this case a camera) and also shows something you might take a photo of with your new camera—perhaps something in nature, like the squirrel featured in the print.

For this design, Miller said she wanted to encourage viewers to be more present (especially when surrounded by nature) and to experience life directly, instead of through a screen.

“The squirrel scolding from a branch is probably something we’ve all seen, and thought ‘What’s his problem?’ It’s one of those magical everyday moments that we may barely notice. As much as you want to grab and keep and share these magical moments with your phone and instagram, you can’t. ‘Put the phone down!’ the squirrel is telling you.”

The 18” x 24” five-color screen print (edition of 55) is available online in her shop www.arnamiller.com/shop/

Half Hazard Press Mandolin Orange Tedeschi Trucks Band and Sublime Posters

No comments:

Half Hazard Press have released 3 new posters.

The first one is a collaboration with Mandolin Orange to translate songs from their latest album "Tides of a Teardrop" for different legs of their winter & spring tours. HHP poster for the stretch of Midwest shows from Ann Arbor, Madison, Minneapolis, & Chicago centers around Lake Michigan, telling a story inspired by their popular new single "Golden Embers". There is foil edition as well.

As the first poster release with the incredibly talented Tedeschi Trucks Band Half Hazard Press were honored to pay tribute to the Legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. This iconic venue has been cultivating gig posters and band artwork for decades as the standard for an excellent music experience. This concept it inspired by the golden years where everyone huddled around the radio every evening to tune into the "Grand Ole Opry". Not to mention being closely tied with Hatch Show Print, a historic print shop that HHP owe a lot of inspiration and credit too. May posters always grace those halls.

Partnering with their local Midwest venues is still one of Half Hazard Press' favorite things to do. Their local music scene is constantly getting better and being able to collaborate with Sublime & Rome while they're cutting up stages on this tour was a killer experience for HHP. This concept was inspired by a newer song of theirs called "Gasoline".

All the posters are on sale now at www.halfhazardpress.com

James Flames Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Mexico Poster Release and Some Pigeons

No comments:

James Flames has a couple of new posters. First is a poster for Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds from their recent show in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and it glows in the dark!

According to James. It's titled "The Songs We Sing About The Moon", and it takes place on the shores of Riviera Maya, on a beautiful star-filled night. Beneath the shoreline there’s a hidden underwater Mayan ruin filled with magic. The people who live there are all musicians who play guitars and when they sing, it creates beautiful golden shapes that float through the water. They sing songs about the moon, but not just the ordinary moon --- they sing about the special moon that lives in the middle of the giant Mayan ruin. They light candles to honor their moon, and these candles magically stay aglow even underwater, and flicker to the rhythm of their songs.

The next poster is James' first time working with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Says James ; I had a lot of fun with this one. The title is "The Visitation", and the story goes like this: an otherworldly being comes down to earth, and the inside of her cloak is a portal to a dimension of floating guitars. She appears in front of two pigeons, presenting to them the inter-galactic symbols of peace: a ping pong ball and a paddle. Her presence is monumental! Her appearance is earth-shattering! Her gesture is historic! And the pigeons... well, they’re a little too preoccupied with a few crumbs on the ground to notice...

He also made two very cool Foil variants for this one: a "Fireworks" HoloFoil and a "Circular Visions" HoloFoil.

Everything will be available Tuesday, February 19 at 2pm Eastern at https://www.jamesflames.com/

Ravi Zupa Medusa and Rangda Art Print

No comments:

This new print by Ravi Zupa print depicts two very similar characters from very different cultures: Greece’s Medusa and Bali’s Rangda. It is available as a 1- or 2-color print.

The words for this print are from a chapter in the Kalevala that is rather harsh. In it, an old woman tells a young bride how her new life with her husband and his family will be painful, lonely and difficult. She gives detailed instructions on how to best perform all her arduous chores despite the thanklessness and cruelty she will receive in return. The old woman then goes on to tell how she did all of this good work and ended up hated, rejected and homeless after doing everything right. It’s a rough go.

Prints are 18 x 24 screenprints with the 1 color having an edition of 200 and the 2 color has an edition of 50. All prints come signed and numbered.

Zoltron Sue Nami Resin Sculpture Release

No comments:

After 6 months of wonderfully tedious work with the exemplary team at Bigshot Toyworks, Zoltron is ready to release "Our Ambiguous and Immaculate Lady of Armageddon & Natural Disaster, Sue Nami."

Sue Nami was first unearthed in 2011, during the tragic Fukushima meltdown, while working on a poster for DEVO. From there, she took on a life of her own and her story continues to evolve. You can read her story here.

This is a very limited edition 9" Polystone Resin statue. Polystone is a compound made up of resin and powdered limestone, which gives it a durable and tangible, heavyweight porcelain-like finish. Each sculpture weighs just under 5 pounds and ships securely, in a laser cut foam insert, sealed inside of a fancy-pants box.

Because Z is insane, each sculpture is composed of 6 individual pieces, hand-cast, hand-assembled, hand-painted and hand-finished... Handy, right? Sue's braids are metal re-enforced. A hand screen-printed felt base helps to prevent surface scratching and secure her footprint.

Each sculpture is individually serial numbered and has a custom UPC code. Sculptures are retail boxed, ship with a fancy holographic sticker and are only available online exclusively at Zoltron.com.

Multiple painting techniques were used to achieve the finish, everything from hand painting, to airbrushing and transparent shadows washes. They used various sheens, matte paints, gloss and semi-gloss finishes.

Sculptures ship with corresponding, and as of yet unreleased, silkscreen Sue Nami & Bigshot Toyworks stickers printed by the heavies at Sticker Robot.

Chengxiang Shang Immortality Art Print

No comments:

ResArt Gallery in New York reached out and thought you fine folks would like this print they released.

Chengxiang Shang latest print release is the painting people have been referring to as the heart vault and is titled "Immortality" named for a song off Pearl Jam's 1994 album, "Vitalogy."

A friend was curious if Shang had ever created a painting as an interpretation of a song and went on to explain how much Immortality means to him, how amazing a Shang piece inspired by the song would be. Shang was thrilled with the concept, and he immediately began to craft this amazing image. The inspiration for this piece comes from the line in the song, "there's a trap door in the sun." While Shang's work is obviously wide open to interpretation, the light appears to shine into the piece from multiple sources, conveying a sense of light that surrounds.

This piece was originally planned to be a limited edition release. However, with the sheer amount of interest shown, Shang decided to make this a timed release! And like he said earlier, Shang has generously offered to gift the Immortality oil on canvas painting to one lucky Friend who orders this print!

They’ll have a few giveaways with this release based on edition size:
100 - 1 print

Foo Fighters Austin Print By Todd Slater

1 comment:

Todd Slater designed the poster for the Foo Fighters show in Austin last year but there was a little problem with it.

According to Todd "I got a ton of emails about this one when the show happened but there was a minor print error I noticed when unpacking my copies that forced me to shelve them until they were able to be reprinted."

The idea behind the design "My vision for this print was to blend the 'Star Gate' sequence from 2001 with those awesome giant insect Sci-Fi posters from the 50s."

Poster is 18 x 24 inches, 5 screens, artist edition signed and numbered to 100 + 50 on lava foil. Original show date was April 18, 2018 at Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin, TX.

On sale now at www.toddslater.net

Artist statement:
My print for PangeaSeed Foundation, “The Diver”, is a celebration of the beauty of the ocean environment and our inter-connected place in it.

We are oxygen breathing animals, and we live on land. “The Diver” is leaving her natural habitat to enter a watery world, where she can not survive long for lack of air; there she is surrounded by the beauty and danger of the seas. She is also surrounded by the essence of her life on land.

“The Diver” plunges into the beautiful ocean surrounded by myriad air bubbles. Our ocean environment plays a crucial role in the generation of the majority of Earth’s life-sustaining air. We could not live on land and breathe fh air without the world’s oceans. 70% of Earth’s oxygen comes from marine plants in our ocean environments. Heat driven loss of ocean oxygen is one of the leading threats to the delicate world biome posed by Climate Change.

It’s clearly time to act. Please be mindful and give your care to the environment. It’s time to do what you can to become a good steward of the environment. I am always happy to contribute my time and energy to PangeaSeed Foundation! Their efforts in helping to save the oceans, thru art and activism, deserve our support and good energies!

I noted in the credit line of my poster: “After Alfred Roller.” The figure of the diver in my print is influenced by a figure in the work of Vienna Secessionist artist Alfred Roller, the brilliant early 20th Century graphic stylist and inventor of the free, flowing typographical fonts that inspired artist Wes Wilson to create psychedelic lettering in the 1960’s.
