Three New Posters by James Flames Activation II, Fine Tuned (The Remix), Lucero

No comments:
James Flames has released three rad new posters. Activation II is the follow up to a print from a series of prints I had James do a while back (Check them out HERE). Activation proved to be a very popular print whenever James did a show like Flatstock. Anyone who had a tattoo shop that saw it was like “I need this in the shop”. James was itching to do a new cool skeleton ink drawing, he loves using the brush to draw those kinds of things. So, lo and behold, he got a new one.

Matt Straub Ain't No Time To Argue! Print On Sale Today GIDDYUP

No comments:

"This print was made from a very large painting by same name. Often I find that paintings are more powerful without text—thus the empty speech bubble. This is not traditional western art. If you appreciate vintage art styles, Pulp novel covers, Golden Age Comics, the romanticizing of the West, POP art, or just like a tough painting of Hell Cats and outlaws my work is for you. This series has some hand embellishments on the top of the print. I have used some Krink and spray paint because these materials are cheap, fast and loud! In my distant past I had a graffiti and street art background." - Matt Straub

Tonight's Primus Poster from Tulsa Oklahoma by Tim Doyle

1 comment:

Tonight's undeniably rad silkscreen poster was created and printed by Mr. Timothy Doyle. Tulsa Oklahoma. #43. Available at The Merch Booth and limited to 100.

Tim Doyle on how he designed the poster:
"I just started drawing a lift of Washington crossing the Delaware, and that's where I ended up. I wanted to make sure to use different comic genres for each figure, and included my cat Pickles in there, but other than that, just some crazy shit I did while listening to Primus."

Tim will have only 50 artist edition copies for sale very soon.

Matt Gordon Fronts Dulcimer Print

No comments:

This piece was finished early in 2012 by Matt Gordon as a part of the recent 323East Exhibition Lyric 2012 curated by Glenn Barr. Each artist was asked to draw inspiration from a lyric or song, so while some artist's pulled directly from a specific song or lyric, Matt Gordon approached his a bit differently.

"I struggled coming up with solid images for a while and finally figured it out when I realized that the music I was trying to paint about will always be cooler and better than one of my paintings. So I stopped trying to make a painting about Bowie's Starman or Iggy's Raw Power -- and I kinda brushed aside the questionable hours spent listening to Steve Miller's Greatest Hits album on repeat (I got busted accidentally singing along while running on the treadmill at the gym. WOO HOO!)

So I stopped listening to music and sought out the nerdiest podcasts I could find. One was about vintage Star Wars figures and one called The Mego Museum (It's about the awesome Barbie doll sized super hero dolls we played with in the 70's and early eighties.) Those became my friends and inspiration for two months as I was reminded how much fun playing and just being a kid was. Those happy memories brought me to success as I believe this to be on of my best finished paintings to date. I still listen to those podcasts today as they are rather enjoyable."- Matt Gordon

The print is 14 x 14 Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper with an edition of 40

This RUN comes signed, numbered and with a Certificate of Authenticity from Matt Gordon and 1xRUN

New Xiu Xiu and M Ward Posters by Doe Eyed Design

No comments:
Doe Eyed Design has released a couple of cool looking new posters.

M Ward Poster
As part of the Sasquatch! Festival poster show, they were asked to create a poster for M. Ward’s performance. They came up with this colorful, summery pinwheel…that upon closer inspection is actually a flock of colorful song birds.

 Xiu Xiu Poster
This poster was created for Xiu Xiu’s recent stop at the Waiting Room in Omaha, Neb. They decided to illustrate a nasty kitty cat based on their lyric “I’ll always be nicer to the cat than I am to you” and wrapped it all up with an 80s pink and black color scheme.
Also available as an artprint.

Matt Leunig's 1986 NES inspired print

No comments:

Matt was asked to create a print for the “In the Garage: Art Celebrating Geek Culture“ show last month. For this show, artists were chosen and given the task of creating a piece that represents nerdom from your past.  The piece he created is a 6-color (18′ x 24′) print entitled, “1986“.

Matt on how he created the print : I spent many a night sitting in the dark w/ the glow of the screen entranced by one NES game or another.  It was a big part of childhood.   My favorite toys were all there.  Looking at current state of geek culture I feel this year in particular had a major effect w/ its toys, games, movies, etc.

His artist proofs that are signed and numbered are on sale now HERE

Alex Pardee New 24 Hour Print Release This FRIDAY!

No comments:

At Zerofriends, they love the number 1, almost as much as the kids with those foam hands, and DEFINTIELY more than that guy that came in second.  In the spirit of the greatest number (not the lonliest number, as some of you may have previously heard) they’re having a Sale on June 1st, for 1 day only!  For those of you who are still learning how to speak binary, here’s the breakdown:

THIS FRIDAY, June1, starting at 12:01AM, they will be re-releasing one of their popular sold-out prints in an all new Limited Edition Colorway, and it will ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE AT ZEROFRIENDS (Both Online & In Their Retail Store) FOR ONLY 24 HOURS! After the 24 hour period, they will NEVER sell this print in this colorway and size again.

At the end of the 24 hour time period, the exact number of prints that they sell will be the exact number of prints released for the edition. So, if only 3 people, one spam email and one armadillo buys them, then the edition will be 5. Cool? They think so!

So yes, on June 1, from 12:01 AM to 11:59 PM and any single minute in between those times, you can purchase this new "HANDFUL: The Baby Grimace Edition" Limited Edition Print (as seen above) either online at ZEROFRIENDS or in person at the Zerofriends Retail Store in Oakland. And if you goto the store bring Alex something to eat.
 Oakland store is located at:
489A 25th St (at Telegraph)
Oakland, CA

Todd Slater Seeing Red Alfred Hitchcock Print On Sale

No comments:
 From Todd:

24 x 18 – 3 color silkscreen – S/N edition of 150 (30 with gold inks) – This print was commissioned for Venice’s Gallery 1988 “Suspense & Gallows Humor: A Tribute to Alfred Hitchcock” show in 2012.  I wanted to combine the three major elements that stand out most to me in Hitchcock films: birds, suspense and voyeurism.  A little known piece of information about Hitchcock is that he himself was a voyeur, so I wanted to include his image in the print as well.

Tom Bagshaw All The Devils Print On Sale Today

No comments:

"I was approached by the group PornSaints to produce a piece and was introduced to a model/performer Lila Night, then I produced the painting from there. I took the line 'Hell is empty and all the devils are here' from Shakepeare's 'The Tempest' and it kinda grew from there." - Tom Bagshaw

For his personal work Tom Bagshaw has developed a highly rendered digital painting style through which he explores themes of fantasy, beauty and mysticism. 'Yokai Dreams' is his first series created for a solo show and it masterfully demonstrates all the key qualities of his work which, while dealing with very imaginative content, aims for a strong level of realism in its presentation.

The darker, creepy elements in Bagshaw's paintings are often balanced out with quirky or humorous details which are charming for the viewer to discover. While feminine beauty plays a large role in his work, the women he depicts are never frail damsels in distress. More often than not they're strong, intriguing characters, with an air of mystery to them.

Though much of his reputation was gained through commercial work it is Yokai Dreams - his first exhibition - that marks his graduation from successful illustrator to highly-skilled, original and intriguing fine artist.

This print is 14 x 20 Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper with an edition of only 30

This RUN comes signed, numbered and with a Certificate of Authenticity from Tom Bagshaw and 1xRUN

On Sale today at 3pm EDT at 1xRun.com
