Jon Smith Eric Church Posters, Mini Prints & Slice Shirt Release

No comments:

Jon Smith has a bunch of new work on sale right now. He added 13 mini prints, 6"x 8" giclees of sold out posters and art prints. These are basically the sold out prints that Jon gets emailed about at random and instead of saying "no dice" he can at least say "you can have a little bite sized version for cheap" these are giclee's not screen print so people who were actually at the show or whatever can have something.

Plus there are 3 new Eric Church posters for Seattle, Raleigh and Vancouver which is my favorite just because it's a killer design and I love me some hockey. Each poster is 18 x 24 screen print with an Artist Proof Edition of only 20.

Then there is the SLICE! shirts, pretty self explanatory. Jon is stoked about the Slice shirts cuz he came up with that design over a year ago and it was always supposed to be a shirt and now his dreams have come true.

Jon Smith Slaughtered Lamb American Werewolf In London English Pub Signs

No comments:

You maybe wondering what Jon Smith has been up too recently. He has been making some incredible pieces of art.

Here’s Jon's take on the pub sign from An American Werewolf In London for Gallery 1988’s Crazy 4 Cult. He challenged himself to make something more complicated and a  bigger pain in the ass to produce than the Dr. Rockso coke mirrors and.. He succeeded!

These signs, a signed and numbered edition of just 50 pieces measure 17″ x 23″, screen printed(6 colors including metallic silver and gold) on both sides(at Broken Press) on half inch plywood, Jon drilled and carved and sanded out the notches himself and painted the edges as well as drilling the holes for the hanging hooks..in an extremely cramped work shed at his parents house while he was home for Thanksgiving last year.

The concept was simple Jon wanted to make a pub sign like the one in the film but with the werewolf  illustration matching the actual werewolf in the film which the sign in the film does not.

Cannibal The Musical Poster by Cody Schibi & a Jon Smith Print from Nakatomi

No comments:

Nakatomi has a couple of new things for sale.

Produced for the NORTH DOOR’s screening of Cannibal the Musical in Austin, this 18×24 hand-printed silkscreen poster is signed and numbered by the artist, Cody Schibi in an edition of 100!

From the artist-
“The sky is blue & all the leaves are green…”
Some of you may recognize those lyrics right off the bat-
Those instantly catchy words are from South Park Creator, Trey Parker’s first film & debut into the entertainment world: CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL.

This hilarious film tells the VERY REAL tale of Alfred Packer (played by Trey Parker) who was convicted of murdering & eating his traveling companions. He defends himself & states the “true” side of the story as he waits for death by hanging. The movie was picked up by TROMA ENTERTAINMENT(the same maniacs that brought you the Toxic Avenger) & fast forward to present day, the bad asses at Austin’s The North Door & Trailer Space Records are coming together to present ‘TROMA Night’ each month, kicking it off with this flesh-eating gem! The curators contacted local screen print guru Nakatomi Inc. to create limited edition posters for the event & I was lucky enough to design the screen print for them.”- Cody Schibi

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Seattle Poster by Jon Smith

No comments:

Nothing like a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds tour to bring out some incredible posters and Jon Smith has created a smoking hot one for the show in Seattle this Wednesday. Jon put it on sale early and you get five dollars off normal price to get a jump on everyone being busy/out of town for the 4th of July at the end of the week..in America anyway so jump on it!!

The poster is a four color screen print for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and special guest Mark Lanegan at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle. 18"x24" signed and numbered edition of 100.

Here is what Jon said about the poster:
I love me some Nick Cave as I’m a sucker for cinematic lyrics. There were a lot of lyrics to work from on the latest album Push The Sky Away, I keyed in on the lyrics from two songs in particular for this poster: We No Who U R and Higgs Boson Blues.

Lyrics from the opening track We No Who UR:
“The trees will stand like pleading hands…The trees will burn blackened hands”

and from Higgs Boson Blues on the second half of the album:
“..Flame trees line the streets…But I’m driving my car down to Geneva”
On sale right now and get $5 for the next 48 hours in Jon Smith's Store

Jon Smith Super Libre 4 Superhero Print Set World Premiere Exclusive

No comments:

Jon Smith has gone loco with his new prints, SUPER LIBRE: A reinterpretation of superheroes through the prism of vintage lucha libre mask illustrations.

Super Libre is a set of four 9″ x 12″ screen prints in an edition of 200 and a small edition of 20, 18″x24″ uncut sheets. It’s an interpretation of superheroes through the prism of traditional lucha libre wrestling masks, hence the name.

Jon Smith on how it all happened:
I think the idea grew out of living here in southeast Austin and seeing  a lot of superhero pinatas and such, janky looking bounce houses with random superhero heads slapped on them that don’t really belong together. That and lucha libre masks are cool and have always fascinated me as well as those old Santo and Blue Demon movies where wrestlers are bizarro superheroes getting into adventures with zombies and classic movie monsters.
They’re up in his STORE now.

Jon Smith Fire Walk With Me, Easy Rider and Shining Prints

2 comments:

Jon Smith did a second edition of his "Fire Walk With Me" print because a friend of Ray Wise wants it as a gift for Ray and Jon completely out. That is a reasonable excuse to print another edition plus he threw in a glow in the dark variant that he had been wanting to do.

He also has a print in “BEAUTY OF THE BEAST” a group show all about motorcycles at Galerie F in Chicago, curated by John Otterbacher. “Easy Riders’ is 24″x 18″, 5 colors, in an edition of 100.

He also has his  “Room 237″ a print inspired by the Shining and the documentary Room 237 on sale as well.
