Timothy Pittides Eddie Vedder Amsterdam Poster Release

No comments:

Here is Timothy Pittides first ever poster for Eddie Vedder and the final date in Amsterdam. The poster is a 7 color screenprint measuring 18 x 24 inches on French Speckletone kraft. Show edition features purple tulips while the AE (Artist Edition) has Orange tulips! His AE copies will be a signed and numbered edition of 100 (all 100 will not be available though).

Story from Timothy on the design:
Was a fun one to do and a little backstory involving the guitar... I wanted to portray her as finding the guitar in the field and toying with it. knocking the dirt and tulip leaves away from this lost guitar...She isn't playing it... much like myself. You see, back in the late 90's I was a vocalist in a band, I have 0 musical ability. One day I just picked up my bandmate's bass and started playing Primus's my name is mud... holding the guitar the wrong way. I am right handed but for some reason I felt really comfortable playing it the other way... of course I got shit, and my friend tried to show me how to do the correct way, but it wouldn't work, so then on, any instrument that was lying around I would pickup and just strum the wrong way.
On sale FRIDAY, June 2nd at NOON EDT at www.bottleneckgallery.com.

Dig My Chili John Legend Los Angeles Posters

No comments:

You have heard me say in the past sometimes I gasp when I open an email from an artist and see the poster. Well it happened again last night when I got the new ones from Dig My Chili.

Dig My Chilil did these two posters for John Legend's two night gig at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Sunday and Monday. DMC ventured into foil stamping and produced these two pieces. They used gold foil on a Nightshift blue by French Paper. They did a limited edition of 200 for each night and the posters are signed and numbered and measure 26 x 20 inches.

I asked Sergio is there any part that is silk screened and he was like nope it's ALL Gold Foil Stamped. Incredible to say the least.

On sale now in the DMC Shop at DigMyChili.com

Jeff Gillette Disneyland Sign "Dead" Prints On Wood Release

No comments:

Two years ago, Jeff Gillette's work — dystopian shantytowns juxtaposed with cartoonish (often Disney) images — caught the eye of elusive U.K. artist Banksy, who invited the SoCal painter to participate in his 2015 abandoned-theme-park project, Dismaland, in the English coastal town of Weston-super-Mare. "My work was so dreary and miserable that he thought it was a good fit," says Gillette.

Now Prints on Wood brings a little bit that to everyone with this new release.

Disneyland Sign "Dead" by Jeff Gillette

16 x 10 in. (40.64 x 25.4 cm), Fine art wood print on 1/2" sustainable birch wood, bright white finish

Signed and numbered timed release ending Monday, June 12th at midnight PST.

The original piece is featured in "Total Dismay", Jeff Gillette's solo show at the Gregorio Escalante Gallery opening May 27th, closing July 2nd, 2017

Misfits 40th Grave and Crypt Prints By Shepard Fairey Release

No comments:

The Misfits are a punk rock revelation and a band that have mesmerized Shepard Fairey from his first introduction to them in 1985. Being asked to do a Misfits 40th anniversary logo recently was a huge honor for Shepard, and that art is still available as a t-shirt now on the band’s websites – MisfitsOfficialMerch.com and MisfitsRecordsOfficial.com. Shepard is also very excited that the art is going to be dropping next week as two different variations of fine art screen prints. The Misfits art is pure alchemy genius and the best example of remixing marginal subculture imagery into a cohesive cult brand in history.

Eric Clapton Posters By Adam Pobiak

No comments:

Adam Pobiak says being asked to create posters for Eric Clapton was an unbelievable honor. There was a stretch in his life where the Yardbirds were his favorite band, this then turned into a longer stretch when Cream took the top spot, In the last many years it's Blind Faith that usually finds its way into his ears. If you are familiar with posters you will know that a very high percentage of the best/most famous posters from the 60's and 70's are for these 3 bands.

More from Adam on the posters:
"SO it absolutely blew my mind when I was not only able to draw the name Eric Clapton, but could also add Delaney & Bonnie, the Blues Breakers, Derek and the Dominos,  the Yardbirds, Cream, and Blind Faith to the art. BUT This also presented a problem. This was not art for a reunion tour, this is a tour celebrating 50 years of uninterrupted creation of music. If the Grateful Dead ask you make something for their reunion you make something that looks a poster from their hayday. If Black Sabbath asks you for art for their reunion you make something that looks like Sabbath would have done in the 70's. But Clapton has never stopped playing. His solo career has had many facets, and all of his bands have been quite different from one another, so the challenge was to find a constant. What can represent 50 years of drastically different music in one poster? His guitars. His guitars have been the constant across his 50 year and counting career.  So with the guitars as the focus, as much care as possible was taken to represent them as realistically as possible, with every scratch, every dent and every crook of the wood grain. The guitars are also presented at Life size (1 to 1 scale) to make it as clear as possible that this is not just "a guitar" this is Eric Clapton's Martin 00-21, this is not "a guitar" this is Eric Clapton's Gibson ES 335, this is not "a guitar" this is Eric Clapton's Fender Stratocaster called "Blackie."
Here are the details:

Los Angeles

Jeff Soto Potatostamp 15 Years of Posters Gallery Show

No comments:

This Saturday Jeff Soto will be in Austin for Potatostamp: 15 Years of Posters by Jeff Soto, his first ever exhibit of prints! This show is a retrospective of his screenprinted gig posters and fine art prints from the last 15 years, and features over 60 prints on display.
A different frame of mind comes into play when creating gig posters. They are illustrative and serve as merch for the bands but they also have to invoke the spirit of the music. I enjoy the creative freedom given with gig posters and it’s fun to match the band’s music with visuals. I also enjoy the technical aspects of creating screen prints. There are size limitations, and a limited amount of colors and papers to choose from. The layering and trapping of colors, and creating halftone and gradients sometimes feel like an artistic puzzle. These technical challenges make screenprinting interesting and creatively rewarding to me.

Most of the prints will be available for purchase. There’s odd colorways and small edition prints available at the gallery. I teamed up with Volcom and Austin’s Industry Print shop for a show poster and a fine art print! We’ll also be screenprinting my design onto shirts, so bring a T!-Jeff Soto
“Potatostamp- 15 Years of Prints by Jeff Soto"
Exhibition Dates: May 27 - June 18, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 27th 6-11pm

Volcom Gardens is pleased to present Potatostamp: 15 Years of Posters by Jeff Soto in what will be his first ever retrospective of screenprinted posters. In addition, this will be Soto’s first exhibition in Texas. The exhibit consists of over 60 screen printed posters, spanning from 2002 to 2017. Many will be available for purchase, along with show and fine art editions of the “Grim Reaper” Soto’s newest print.

Flint Eye Alert Globe Shepard Fairey Print Release By 1xRun

No comments:

For second release in the 1xRUN Flint Water Crisis Print Suite they are excited to welcome in Shepard Fairey who brings us the Flint Eye Alert Globe. Read on 1xRun to find out more behind Shepard Fairey’s print to help them continue this ongoing series. To donate directly head to the Michigan ACLU here and The Flint Child Health & Development Fund of the Foundation of Flint. Stay tuned as 1xRun will be announcing new prints from some of the contemporary art world’s biggest names, both locally and internationally, in the coming months with more artists joining Robbie Conal, Shepard Fairey, Doze Green and Maya Hayuk as part of this ongoing series…
"This piece is based on a painting I did for my 'Earth Crisis' show in Paris. The entire body of work for that show used these shades of blue/turquoise as a connection to the air and water that is essential to sustaining life on planet Earth. This piece is more specifically about the idea that we need to see what is right in front of us, that we are dependent on nature and I used the blooming flower as a symbol of both beauty and growth. If we keep ruining the air and water, things won't grow, not to mention we'll all get sick." - Shepard Fairey
The Flint Eye Alert Globe print is an 18 x 24 inch 4 color screen print with an edition of 450. This RUN comes signed and numbered by Shepard Fairey and includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity from 1xRUN.

On sale at NOON EDT at 1xRun.com
