Charles Peterson Pearl Jam Eddie Vedder Boston Bonus Print

No comments:

Charles Peterson and 1xRUN decided to drop a bonus print for the Drop in the Park series and this one features Eddie Vedder at the recent concert in Fenway Park in Boston on September 2.
"Often, it's the seemingly simple that can resonate the most for me. For this 1xRUN bonus from Boston, I was envisioning a wide shot, a classic Who jump shot, solid action, Fenway! But this early (ten minutes in, first show) photograph of Eddie really struck me. Capturing the maturity of an artist, in an image that is both resonant and visually dynamic, in a live setting, is a tough thing to do. I’ll leave any interpretations beyond that to the viewer.

A bit about making the image. For one thing, it's not cropped and is at the long end of a Nikon 80-200mm. Pearl Jam have these enormous black scrims surrounding the stage, which makes it easy to get really clean backgrounds like this. Typically, the first night of any Pearl Jam show there’s a scrum of twenty plus photographers, most right down under Eddies’ nose, there to shoot the first three songs only. I usually avoid that, and head to the far side of the pit or elsewhere, until they’re finished. And that’s how one begins to get a shot like this. Or as I like to say to students: “Bend your knees!” (i.e. find that new perspective).

I also like the arc, the narrative trajectory made from the first image in the 1xRUN series of a young, wild Ed hanging from the scaffolds, to the middle age, dad Ed, still in awe of it all, playing at the legendary ballpark of his youth." - Charles Peterson
This print is a 17 x 12 Inches Archival Pigment Print. Timed Limited Edition that is signed & numbered will be closed on September 12th at 3pm.

This Drop In The Park print series features 8 new timed limited editions from legendary Seattle photographer Charles Peterson! Charles Peterson Eddie Vedder Pearl Jam Monkeywrench Radio Seattle Art Print

No comments:

The next print is 1xRUN's Charles Peterson Pearl Jam Drop in the Park series features Eddie Vedder playing DJ on the Monkeywrench Radio broadcast from Seattle.

"Spin, spin, spin the black circle! Eddie doing just that during one of Pearl Jam’s legendary Monkeywrench radio shows they put on in the mid and late nineties from their Seattle practice space. This photo has never been published or exhibited before and only recently discovered in the archives. My favorite part of the shot? Eddie’s ubiquitous (at the time) Casio calculator watch front and center. I think he’d like that the most too." - Charles Peterson

This print is a 17 x 12 Inches Archival Pigment Print. Timed Limited Edition that is signed & numbered will be closed on September 12th at 3pm.

Charles Peterson Eddie Vedder Drop In The Park Print Release

No comments:

1xRUN is excited to announce Drop In The Park featuring 7 new timed limited editions from legendary Seattle photographer Charles Peterson! To coincide with Pearl Jam's 2018 US tour 1xRUN has partnered up with Charles Peterson to look through his expansive archives for some old favorites, never before seen shots and more surprises for 7 new timed limited editions dropping for each stop of the band's 2018 tour!

To kick things off they've got one of Peterson's most famous shots of Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder hanging from the stage scaffolding at the band's historic Drop In The Park show at Seattle's Magnuson Park back in 1992. Read on for the story behind these iconic photos and check back for daily releases at each stop of Pearl Jam's US Tour.

This print is a 12 x 17 Inches Archival Pigment Print. Timed Limited Edition that is signed & numbered will be closed on September 12th at 3pm.

"These Pearl Jam photos represent over 25 years of working with the band. They make me feel old and young simultaneously. I guess you could say these are part of what I’m now calling “The Grunge Years” which is also the working title of my next book I’m slowly assembling. A lot of this work (in fact most) was self-assigned, and the bands trusted me to do my thing and do well by them. It’s still the agreement we have for post-grunge events like the Pearl Jam Mariners stadium shows I’m shooting this week.

One thing about photographing Pearl Jam is there’s never any flash. They were one of the first bands that made it to the big stages out of the Seattle scene - stupidly I missed out on their club days because I was so focused on Nirvana, Mudhoney and Soundgarden (not a bad thing.) Big stages mean longer lenses, faster film, etc. so it was an opportunity to explore a different style of music photography than I was initially known for. If you like Pearl Jam, and appreciate their history, not to mention owning a part of the legacy that I gifted to the grunge generation, then these are for you." - Charles Peterson

David Welker will have a couple of excellent print releases this week.

Show Edition

Artist Edition

Eddie Vedder is in London tonight at the Hammersmith Apollo for the first of two sold out shows and Brad Klausen designed the poster for the concert. As fan of The Who and Quadrophenia I love this poster.

Invoking the days of the Mods, Eddie looks perfect in his zoot suit cruising on his Lambretta scooter through the streets of London.

The show poster is the black edition and Brad's artist edition is the purple one.

The poster measures 13 x 24 inches and they are both 6 color screen prints.

Brad will have his signed & numbered artist edition posters on sale Wednesday June 7th at 10am PDT at http://artillerydesign.com/

Timothy Pittides Eddie Vedder Amsterdam Poster Release

No comments:

Here is Timothy Pittides first ever poster for Eddie Vedder and the final date in Amsterdam. The poster is a 7 color screenprint measuring 18 x 24 inches on French Speckletone kraft. Show edition features purple tulips while the AE (Artist Edition) has Orange tulips! His AE copies will be a signed and numbered edition of 100 (all 100 will not be available though).

Story from Timothy on the design:
Was a fun one to do and a little backstory involving the guitar... I wanted to portray her as finding the guitar in the field and toying with it. knocking the dirt and tulip leaves away from this lost guitar...She isn't playing it... much like myself. You see, back in the late 90's I was a vocalist in a band, I have 0 musical ability. One day I just picked up my bandmate's bass and started playing Primus's my name is mud... holding the guitar the wrong way. I am right handed but for some reason I felt really comfortable playing it the other way... of course I got shit, and my friend tried to show me how to do the correct way, but it wouldn't work, so then on, any instrument that was lying around I would pickup and just strum the wrong way.
On sale FRIDAY, June 2nd at NOON EDT at www.bottleneckgallery.com.

Songwriter Sues Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder for Changing 'Hard Sun' Lyrics

No comments:

Rocker Eddie Vedder is fighting legal action from a Canadian singer/songwriter for changing the lyrics to a song he recorded for the "Into the Wild" soundtrack. The Pearl Jam star recorded Gordon Peterson's tune "Hard Sun" in 2007 for Sean Penn's hit film, but Peterson, who originally wrote the track in 1987, wasn't happy when he heard the finished version - and realized the rock icon had altered the lyrics.

Peterson is now suing Vedder and has filed papers in New York's Manhattan federal court. The suit states, "Vedder altered certain key lyrics of 'Hard Sun'... eroding the integrity of the composition." Executives at Universal Music are also targeted in the lawsuit after allegedly licensing the track without his permission.

Peterson is demanding all profits from the "acts of infringement". However, Vedder's lawyer Gregory Clarick insists Peterson has no grounds for complaint. He tells the New York Post, "We don't see any basis for a copyright infringement claim."
